Training Day Two

Ace Dawford's P.O.V. (D2)

Elsa and I throw some knives at targets while Gwen trains with a spear. Kara tried throwing knives with us, but Elsa and I didn't allow her.

"Did you see her reaction when we told her to leave?" Elsa chuckles as she swings her arm back to throw another knife, "She's so pathetic. I can't wait to kill her."

"She'll probably get killed by the biggest wimp in the arena before you get the chance," I say, "I don't understand what drove her to volunteer since she obviously can't even lift an axe."

I point over to the axe station where Kara is attempting to lift an axe. She only lifts it a few inches off the ground before she drops it again. Elsa and I hold in laughs.

"Like I said," Elsa repeats, "Pathetic."

We turn away and continue messing around with the knives. I glance over at Gwen a few times. She's doing excellent with the spears over there. I saw her with a mace earlier too. She's got some strength.

I nod in her direction, "What's your thoughts on her?"

Elsa glances up, "Who, Gwen? She's alright."

"I think we made a wise choice with her," I say.

"If you say so, Ace, but I wouldn't put all of your trust in her. I don't trust anybody here, except you."

"Well that's nice to know."

"So what are we doing next?" Elsa changes the subject.

I sigh, "I guess we should look at the survival stations. I mean, we've been at all of the fighting stations already today and we spent all day yesterday doing the same thing."

"Okay, survival stations it is then."

Sabrina Lopez's P.O.V. (D12)

I walk around the room, trying to find Wesley, Dylan, or Emma, but none of them are in sight. The last time I was with them, they were walking over to the medicine and poison sections, but I wanted to try out the archery station.

As I walk past a camouflaging station, I hear somebody whisper my name playfully, "Sabrina..."

I stop dead in my tracks, "Who's there?"

My eyes scan the camouflaging station. There are two boulders, several trees and stumps, as well as some leaf-piles and logs scattered around. I jump back and scream a little when one of the trees moves.

"What the-"

Laughter comes from the station as I look around with wide and confused eyes. Then a figure emerges from beside the tree I thought moved. The person is wearing some sort of camo-shirt and pants. Paint is covering their face and arms, giving them a bark-like look to them.

I raise an eyebrow in confusion as the person comes closer, "Wesley?"

Wesley bursts out in laughter, "You should've seen your face! We totally had you!"

"We?"

Two more figures emerge from the station. It's Dylan and Emma. They are laughing just as hard as Wesley as I frown, unamused. Emma was camouflaged to look like one of the leaf piles while Dylan disguised himself to blend in with the log and ground.

"Haha, very funny," I say, but they continue giggling and pointing at me.

"I hope you guys don't laugh like this when someone that isn't quite as friendly as me walks by in the arena. You'll all be toast."

They seem to laugh more at that. I roll my eyes and smile.

"Okay, so did you guys learn anything useful in the medicine and poison section?" I ask as their laughter dies down.

"We've graduated from Med-school with honors!" Wesley remarks sarcastically.

I roll my eyes again and sigh, "Good to know."

"How did archery go for you?" Emma asks.

  I smile, "Very well."

Scarlett Salasi's P.O.V. (D7)

Fynn and I have practiced fighting with each other with multiple weapons, but it's still been difficult for me to find one that works for me. Fynn, as I predicted, can use a sword, daggers, a mace, and basically any other close-range weapon.

"Fynn, I don't think this one is working for me either," I say as I toss an axe on the ground.

"Well what else have we not tried yet? There has to be something," Fynn says as he picks up the axe I dropped and places it on its rack.

I shrug my shoulders, "I don't know..."

Then I hear a thud as Myx Averice hits a target with a throwing-knife in the station beside the one we're in. I watch her with great interest while Fynn rambles on about something. All I can hear is the pleasant whizzing sound when Myx releases the knife and sends it soaring across the room, followed by the satisfying thud it makes when it hits the target. I start walking over to the rack of knives, intrigued by them.

"Uh, Scar?" Fynn asks, following me curiously, "What are you doing?"

"I want to give these a try," I say as I select a knife.

"Are you sure? I tried them earlier and it's pretty difficult," Fynn says.

"Yeah," I confirm, taking a position beside Myx.

I can feel her and Fynn watching me as I pull my arm back with the knife in my hand. I can feel the cool metal of the blade as I set my eyes on the target. I calculate the force and direction I should through the knife. Then I swing my arm forward, taking a step forward and planting my foot in front of me as I release the knife. I watch it like it's in slow-motion as it spins through the air with force and speed. My chest tingles with excitement and surprise when I realize it has planted itself in the bullseye. Fynn is cheering behind me as I smile with accomplishment. I just did that!

"That was amazing, Scar! It's like you've been doing it your whole life!" Fynn praises as Myx walks over with wide eyes.

"H-how? I've been working at this all day, and I've only managed to hit the edge of the target. And I certainly don't have the perfect form you do when you do it!"

I shrug my shoulders, "I guess it's my natural thing."

"I'll say!" Fynn says, "I'm surprised you didn't try this earlier with me."

"I didn't think it would be this easy before."

"Well I guess we know what you'll be going for at the bloodbath."

Cole Winston's P.O.V. (D6)

When I finish building some fires with my allies, Jeff and Wendy, we head over to the lunch area to get a bite to eat. We meet Myx when we get there.

"You guys, you wouldn't believe what I just saw," she says when we sit down at a table with her.

"What?" I ask.

"I was practicing throwing-knives, when Scarlett Salasi from District Seven saunters over and hits a bullseye with her first try! I had been doing that all day and didn't even get close to the bullseye."

I frown, "Sounds dangerous. I guess we're going to have to look out for those two. I've seen her brother practicing with swords, maces, axes, clubs, you name it, and he's pretty inpressive. I'm honestly surprised he's not with the Careers. They should've asked him instead of the joke from One. I don't know how they thought they'd get anywhere by asking her to join."

"Yeah...I tried asking them to be allies, but Fynn wouldn't allow it. He's very protective and doesn't trust anyone. Like that matters though. With both of their skills, I doubt they'll need any allies for the arena," Myx says.

"Speaking of the arena," Wendy speaks up, "When are we going to formulate our Game plan?"

"I don't think we should bother going into the bloodbath. It's too risky for us since our alliance is the majority of the younger tributes," I suggest.

"Agreed. I say we make a break for it the second the gong goes off," Myx offers.

"We'll meet at the nearest water source I guess?" Wendy asks.

"I guess."
