Chapter 13 I'm Sorry, Only One Can Live
I knew only one can live. I saw Maya. She was so frail and fragile, but I had to kill someone. I didn't see Luke anywhere. So she would have to die. She saw me and loaded her bow. I had my dirk ready to fight. Tears were bursting in my eyes. But I had to do it for Kailey.
I charged. She shot the arrow at me and it struck my leg. I tried to stay up but I slipped and my dirk went flying out of my hand. I heard a scream and a thud.
I got up and saw Maya lying on the ground, tears dripping from her eyes. Tears welled up in my eyes. We had made friends and now that friendship will end.
"Bryn?" Maya cried. I walked to her and sat by her dying body, holding her hand. "Maya?" I said. "Take my necklace," said Maya. I pulled off her necklace. She said, "Take this to my mom if you survive, please Bryn. I said "Yes I will and I'm sorry, only one can live."
She smiled at me and said "I forgive you, keep my promise." "I will," I said in tears. Her emerald eyes faded and her hand went limp. The cannon sounded.
I ran until I smashed into Luke then there was a message: Go to the volcano. I saw the volcano and started running. I got to the top and the message "Jump in" appeared. I jumped in.
I saw Luke and he saw me. An announcement echoed throughout the cave. "Fight or we will release a bomb to kill you both. You have four minutes." A timer appeared 4:00. Bryn and Luke will meet the end of the games but only one comes out.
