The Finalist Interviews (Part Two)

Julius Flickerman's P.O.V.

I bow to the applauding audience as I announce the next set of tributes, "Please welcome to the stage, Delinia Spokes, Tai Hosman, Vance Blue, Cally Blue, Sara Higgins and Mason Paits!"

The six tributes walk happily onto the stage and make their way over to the long, black-leather sofa near me. Once seated, I start the interview with Delinia.

"Delinia, congratulations on making the last kill of round one. You and your allies really made that last part intense. Grace was in the pit, Crimson was attacking you, she broke your hand, she broke Sage's nose, you killed her...wow!"

Delinia giggles, "I'm glad you liked it. And I agree, it was intense. I was relieved when it was over. Also, I don't know why Crimson would attack us, especially when we outnumbered her five to one."

"Maybe she just wanted to kill one of you and get it over with. She was probably following you guys and saw an opening to attack when you were busy helping Grace and Brenda out of the pit," I suggest.

"That's gotta be it."

"So, what surprised you the most in the Games?"

"I would have to say when Grace and Kaya ambushed us. I thought for sure that Sage was a goner, until Grace stopped Kaya from killing her," she replies.

I nod as I recall the scene, "Yes, that was quite surprising. So what made you think you could trust Grace and Kaya? You seemed to agree to let them join the alliance right away."

"Well, I thought that if we didn't let them into the alliance, they would've killed Sage. They became quite helpful anyways."

"Yes. Alright, I'll move on to Tai now."

"Okay," Delinia says as she looks at Tai beside her.

"Tai, are you happy you made it to the final round with Delinia?"

"Why wouldn't I be? Of course I'm happy!" he says.

"Good. So are you still with the Careers for the next Games, or did you split?"

"I left them, because they probably wouldn't let Delinia in the alliance. Besides, they joined Jean and Clarice. I also didn't get along very well with Brendan anyways."

I nod, "Yes. I was expecting you two to start fighting at one point."

"Nah. Damon stopped that from happening. I was just so annoyed with Brendan after the Bloodbath because he kept pushing us to go back, even though Liam had a broken arm and I practically had a concussion at the time. Ugh, he was so pushy."

"Hm. Well, I'm sure he was happy when you ended up getting the cornucopia back."

"Yep. I don't even think he cared that Damon had died."

"Well at least Don also died during that fight. That kid was tough."

"Yeah. Wasn't he the one who was saying that he was going to be the Victor? And that all his allies were only there to help him win?"

"That's the one. So, since they are no longer your allies, who is now?"

"Delinia and Grace Price," he replies.

"Oh, nice pick with Grace. Dean and Kaya made a big mistake by ditching that girl. She has some tricks up her sleeve."

"I know. I hope she proves her worth tomorrow."

I turn to Cally Blue and smile, "I think it's Cally's turn now. Thanks for the talk, Tai."

"No problem."

"So, Cally, are you still with Sara for the next Games?"

She nods, "Definitely. Vance also, of course."

"Of course," I repeat, "And are you going to the cornucopia at the Bloodbath?"

She frowns, "Not sure. Maybe if we see something we know we can get, but otherwise, probably not."

"Understandable. There are some really tough tributes this year that I'm sure you wouldn't want to get in the way of."

"I know, right? Why did there have to be so many big tributes this year? The only year I am in the Games," Cally says.

"Well, it certainly makes the Quell more exciting. So what do you think the new arena will be like?"

"I'm not sure. Well, nobody is sure, but whatever it is, it must be interesting. That's what I keep hearing, anyways," she replies.

I nod, "I can't wait. So, are you happy that your brother is going into the next Games with you?"

"No, I'm still mad at him for volunteering," she says as she gives Vance a sideways glance.

"Oh, I thought you would be ecstatic."

She shakes her head, "I'm still mad that he volunteered."

"Well, I'm sure Vance saw this coming. What would you have done if he died in the last Games?"

"I would've resurrected him and killed him myself!" she replies, receiving some laughs from the audience.

"Alright, well I should move on to Vance now. He's been waiting," I inform Cally as I turn to her brother.

"Vance, you almost ate the nightlock!"

He smiles and rolls his eyes, "I can't stop thinking about how stupid I was for not seeing that they were nightlock berries."

"Thank goodness Nathan stopped you from eating it, right?"

"Yeah, I wish he would've told me beforehand that they were poisonous."

"Maybe he didn't notice what they were until you had already started picking them. He was pretty concentrated on that turkey he caught."

Vance shrugs, "I guess."

"What was the most frightening moment in the arena for you?"

"The Bloodbath. Nothing else really happened to my alliance. We weren't attacked at all. Only one tribute found us, but he kept walking."

I nod, "Right, Eric Polt, wasn't it?"

"That's the one."

"Were you surprised that he died?" I ask.

"Not really. He didn't have an alliance, and there were some pretty big tributes he was going after."

"Yes, he was the last death. Tai actually killed him," I say as I nod towards Tai.

"Well, I'm just glad nobody from my alliance died. Most of the people in my alliance volunteered to be in the Games."

"Except Nathan," I point out, then I turn to the final tribute, "I think Mason should get his turn now, Vance, it was nice talking with you."

"Thanks," Vance says.

"Mason, I heard you got some new allies?"

"Yes, Brenda Long and Sage Salereno," he replies.

"Do you think they will be good allies?"

Mason shrugs, "Not sure, really. We never got to see Brenda's skills, and Sage is good I guess."

"Well, I'm glad you are happy with them. So, what do you think of the Games so far this year?"

"Well, it sure is different, it being a Quell and all. I wasn't really impressed with the arena for the second Games though," he replies.

"Why not?"

"It was just so...I don't know, cluttered."

I raise an eyebrow, "Well, we wanted it to be like that."

"Well I'm just glad that the next arena won't be like that."

I smile, "Yes, the next arena. As I've been telling everyone, it's going to be an interesting one."

"I'm sure it will. This year is a Quell, after all."

"So how does it feel, being one of the survivors who made the most kills?"

Mason shrugs, "Like nothing, really. I'm just a piece in these Games, and every piece plays it's own part in it. And that usually means that people need to die."

"Good answer. So you are determined to win this?"

"As best I can, yes," he replies.

Suddenly the buzzer goes off and everyone on the stage stands up.

"Thank you for coming to have one last interview with me! I hope to see one of you become the Victor very soon!" I shout happily to the six tributes as they leave the stage.

Then I turn back to the audience, "That was the second interview for today, everyone. Please stay seated for the next set of tributes who will be coming into the stage at any moment!"
