The Finalist Interview (Part Four)
Julius Flickerman's P.O.V.
"Give it up for the final six tributes, Iona Flourisha, Jarus Palmer, Grace Price, Jason Wolfe, Kaya Willow and Dean Willow, everybody!" I scream over the roaring crowd.
The six tributes calmly enter the stage and approach me. Once everyone is seated and the audience grows quiet once more, I start the interview.
"Iona, congratulations on making so many kills in the Games!"
Her cheeks grow red when the crowd screams her name, "Thank you. I'm looking forward to getting in the next arena."
"We can't wait to see you there. I hope to see some more action from you and Jarus," I nod towards Jarus.
"Yes, I'm sure you're all wondering why I left the Careers. I left those losers because I don't need them and neither does Jarus, so we teamed up. We'll make it farther than them easily."
"Well, well, well, I can already tell this is going to be one of the greatest Games in history. Do you feel lucky to be a part of it and possibly the Victor?" I ask.
"Anyone should feel lucky to be in these Games. And I would be absolutely honored and so proud if I was crowned Victor of this Quell," she replies confidently.
"So, back to the first round, were you planning on leaving the Careers then?"
"At first, I wasn't. But then, I realized that they had barely made any kills and were just bossing everyone else around. Especially Jean. I didn't want to be around them anymore towards the end of the Games. They were lucky the Games ended when it did, because I was planning on turning on them at that point."
"Very interesting, but I should move on to Jarus now," I say sadly.
"Alright."
"Jarus, is there a reason Mason isn't your ally anymore?"
"Not really. Although, I have a feeling that if he did stay as my ally, Iona would kill him," he says and Iona nods.
"So how come you didn't kill anyone? You had many chances to."
He shrugs, "I tried to make some kills at the Bloodbath, when we attacked Luke and his allies, and when the 'Careers' attacked us, but somehow they always managed to escape my grip."
"Are you angry that you didn't kill anyone?"
"Not really, but it would've been nice if I did."
"It's a shame you and Mason didn't get the chance to attack Nathan's group, am I right? That would've been good."
"It's a good thing we didn't, because we didn't have any weapons, and they were fully equipped."
"Hmmm, I see your point there. I have to move on to the next tribute now, but it was nice talking with you again, Jarus."
"Likewise."
"Grace, how are you feeling since the Games?"
"Umm...normal, I guess. I was a bit confused when I realized I had made it out though."
"Oh, right. I had almost forgotten that you fell into the pit and passed out. You probably didn't wake up until you were safely in the Capitol, right?"
Grace nods, "Yep. Delinia had to tell me what happened. She said that Crimson attacked them and they dropped the rope accidentally. She also said that she was the one that killed Crimson."
"She was. It was very intense," I comment, "So I heard you became Tai and Delinia's ally for the final round."
"That's right. Everyone else in my alliance split up, so Delinia said I could join them."
"Cool. I'm very interested in the new alliances. It is going to be a good Games indeed."
"It will..."
"Alright, I can tell Jason is waiting for his turn. Best not keep him waiting, Grace. Pleasure seeing you again."
"Same."
"So Jason, how did it feel to make a kill?"
Jason stares at me and blinks a few times before he asks, "Um...I wasn't aware that I killed anyone. Or were you just kidding?"
"Of course I wasn't kidding. Remember Brad?" I remind him.
His face shows that he recognizes the name, but he still looks confused.
"The Gamemakers say that you technically killed Brad because it was you that threw him onto the ground, which made him stab himself accidentally," I explain, "In the end, it was that wound that killed him."
Jason looks around in bewilderment, "I didn't kill him!" he denies, "I was just trying to get him away from James!"
"Yes, but he wouldn't have stabbed himself if you didn't throw him."
Jason takes a moment to register what I'm saying, "That was his own fault, not mine. I never had the intention of killing him."
"Then why did you chase after him and Conner in the first place?"
"Because they were running away from us and I thought they had more allies. I thought they were going to bring their allies back to kill James and I. I just reacted!" Jason defends.
"Alright, alright," I raise my hands, "I'm sorry I said anything about it. Would you like me to continue your interview? Or should I move on?"
"Sure," he says as he crosses his arms over his chest.
I don't know if he meant 'sure' as in 'move on to someone else', or 'sure' as in 'continue'. I decided not to take any chances and just moved on to Kaya Willow.
"Kaya, are you happy that you are in the next round with your brother?"
"I'm glad Dean is here, but I don't want to go into the next round."
"Why ever not? You're the first person to say that to me."
"That's because I truly don't want to. All of the tributes for the next round are tougher and older."
"Not all of them," I correct, "Think of Sara Higgins and the twins. In fact, Sara is the youngest person who will be in the Games and she is alright with that."
"Yeah, but she is in a bigger alliance. It's just gonna be me and Dean," she points out.
"I see. Let's move on to another question. If you could pick anyone from your Games that died, and bring them back to life, who would it be and why?"
"First of all, I would never do that because that person would just have to die all over again. But if I was to choose someone, it would have to be Amira Senn or Bella Rosewood, because it would be so wonderful to bring that beautiful friendship back that those girls had with Kierra and Flora."
"That's a really good answer. I wish you good luck for the upcoming Games, but I must move on to your brother now. I hope to see you afterwards."
"Yeah..."
"Dean, here we are again! It's good to see that you made it out alive."
He sighs, "Yes, it feels good to be out of the arena, even though I'm going right back into another one tomorrow..."
"How's your leg doing?"
"Much better. In fact, it's like nothing ever happened to it. The medicine here really works miracles."
"Many tributes have said that over the years. And it's true. We need to have good doctors and medicine for the Victors. They usually come out of the arena pretty beat up. Some of them are practically dead when they come out."
"Yeah."
"So, since it will only be you and Kaya, are you not going into the Bloodbath?"
"I will be, but Kaya isn't," he replies. I notice Kaya give him a look that shows that she doesn't approve.
"Does Kaya agree with this plan?"
"Not really," Dean admits, "But we won't make it far without some supplies. I can do it."
"I believe you can too. Kaya doesn't have a thing to worry about. Do you have any plans for the rest of the Games?"
"If we make it past the Bloodbath? Not really. Just the typical run, hide, stay away from other tributes kind of plan."
Buzz!!!
The last six tributes stand up and start walking to the exit as the crowd also stands up and cries their names. I stand up and clap for them, shouting, "Good luck!"
