Kierra Garten's P.O.V. (D3)

My allies and I, after walking all day through the woods, found a tree that was big enough and climbed it. Then we settled ourselves in for a good nights sleep.

"I'll take first watch," I volunteer.

Nobody argues about going next, they just find a good branch and get out their sleeping bags.

Suddenly the Capitol seal appears in the sky with the anthem accompanying it.

I move a branch out of the way so I can see the death toll for today.

The first face to appear is Hayley Summers, District Ten.

Then Fiona Chase, as well as her district partner, Rayla Knight appear.

Amira's face materializes next. Her eyes seem to be staring right into my own. I feel my eyes grow wet. I also notice Flora turn her face away, not in grief, but in guilt.

Next is Lydia York, also from Ten. I saw her die at the Bloodbath at the hands of Sonya.

Speaking of Sonya, her face comes up next. This surprises me because of her being a Career and all. I wonder who did it.

The next face to appear is Riley Holtz from Twelve. That leaves only two people in Grace's alliance.

The final image belongs to Mandy Woodsworth.

That makes a total of eight deaths today. Which means only four more have to die in order for us to make it through to the final Games.

The anthem finishes and the seal disappears, leaving the arena in darkness.

I sigh. I wish more of the Careers were gone, but it's only day one. Who knows what could happen in the next couple of days.
