Day Seven (Morning)

Cally Blue's P.O.V. (D5)

I wake up to a beautiful blue sky. The storm has finally cleared. Vance is still asleep beside me, but his breathing sounds a little funny and he's pretty sweaty. His leg is wrapped in tight bandages and has a make-shift splint in it to keep the bone straight. I'm so happy Nathan was able to figure out how to set it correctly. Apparently, his aunt is a doctor and she taught him a lot of the stuff she knows. I guess it's a good thing I found Nathan.

Just then, Nathan wakes up also. He looks at Vance and a look of concern crosses his face. He comes over and puts his hand on Vance's forehead.

"He's burning up with a fever," Nathan says as he rocks back on his heels, rubbing his chin, "It must've been the rain."

"But he'll be alright, right?" I ask.

Nathan stretches his hand out, "Give me the pack with the medical supplies in it."

I immediately hand over the white-and-red pack we stole from the cornucopia when we killed Iona. He opens it up and starts digging through the contents, searching for something.

"What are you looking for?" I ask.

"Medicine," he answers as he finds a small tube of purple-colored liquid. He reads the label and says, "This should do the trick."

He screws the lid off and throws it away. Then he reaches over and gently nudges Vance until he wakes up. He gives the tube to Vance and tells him to drink up. When Vance finishes it, he lays back down and groans.

"I feel terrible. What did you just give me?"

"Just try to go back to sleep," Nathan replies, "That was something that will lower your fever a bit."

"Hmm, whatever," Vance mumbles as he goes back to sleep.

Tai Hosman's P.O.V. (D4)

Delinia and I walk along the edge of the cornucopia island, trying our best to avoid going to the cornucopia. Delinia's leg is a bit better than it was yesterday. At least she can walk without having to lean against me. Not that I mind.

Suddenly there is a burst of static throughout the arena, causing us to cover our ears. Then the voice of Gladius Glemming booms, "Congratulations, tributes, on surviving the first seven days of the Games. I'm sure you would all be happy to hear that a feast will take place at the cornucopia this afternoon! Everyone is welcome, and I urge you to attend. Oh, I might want to add that there will be a special gift at the feast for Brenda Long. It will have your District number on it, but I'll let you find out what it is for yourself. As for everyone else, good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor!"

I look at Delinia, "So, are we going?"

She nods, "We might as well. Let's make things entertaining for the Capitol, shall we?"

Brenda Long's P.O.V. (D7)

"What could the special gift be for me?" I ask out loud when the broadcast ends.

I hear Mason pacing back and forth, "I don't know, but I'm getting it for you."

I reach out for his arm, "No, please don't go. It's probably just a trick to get more tributes to come."

"It must be something that only you can put to use, or else they wouldn't have made it for you. But the question is...what could that something be?" Mason muses.

"It doesn't matter what it is, Mason, you're not going. End of story."

Mason stops pacing and he snaps his fingers, "I have an idea of what it might be! Brenda, you're gonna love it if it's what I think it is! I'm getting it for you. It shouldn't be a problem, I just have to get this."

I sigh. He seems quite set on getting this thing, whatever it is, for me. I don't think I can talk him out of it.

"Are you sure you'll be alright?" I ask, dropping my head.

"Yes, you just stay put and wait for me please," he says before he plants a kiss on my cheek, "I promise I'll be back as soon as possible."

Then I hear his steady footsteps retreating from me, towards the cornucopia.

Brendan Hankson's P.O.V. (D2)

Liam and I sit on the grass outside the cornucopia, keeping our weapons close at hand. We decided to wait outside for the feast to start. You never know, maybe some tributes will decide to come a little earlier. They'll be in for a rude awakening if they do.

"Do you think everyone will come?" Liam speaks up.

I shrug, "It depends on if they are in the condition to come. Brenda, for example. She's blind! Some of the other tributes could be wounded."

"I almost won't be surprised if nobody shows. So far as I know, everyone has weapons and packs. Not to mention, a few tributes have already stolen things from the cornucopia."

"Maybe some of them will just come anyways. Mason will definitely come for Brenda's thing, so that's one person we know will be here. Delinia and Tai might come, but they already came to the cornucopia. Who knows where Nathan is. And that leaves the twins, which I don't think we'll be seeing them, since we haven't even seen them since the Bloodbath," I predict.

Liam nods with a playful smile, "That's quite a prediction! Can you tell me if there will be more rain today?"

I play along with him and look up at the sky. There isn't a dark cloud in sight. It looks the clearest it's ever been, other than a green cloud here and there. I shield my eyes with the back of my hand as I look at the beaming sun.

"I don't know, Liam," I frown and shake my head, "I'm afraid that a horrible storm is coming! There will be hailstones the size of cats, and rain that comes down in sheets so thick, you wouldn't even be able to walk outside without getting flattened to the ground! The storm will then grow into a hurricane that will destroy the whole island!"

Liam looks unimpressed. He pats me on the shoulder, "One day you'll come up with better stories, Brendan."
