Iona Flourisha's P.O.V. (D11)

Jarus and I are perched high in one of the trees that surround the cornucopia. We learned earlier today, that there are two other islands: a jungle one and a forest one. We decided to stay on the cornucopia island for the time being, just in case any tributes come by. Our tree is positioned near the bridge to the forest island.

Suddenly, there was a strange shifting feeling all around us. I look down at Jarus, who is sitting a few branches lower than I am. He wears an expression that matches my own.

"What was that?" he calls up.

"I don't know," I call back.

Just then, we notice the bridge starting to tilt upwards and the forest island is higher in the sky than our island now. It continues to rise higher and higher above the cornucopia island. So does the jungle island, until the bridges are nearly vertical. Nobody would be able to cross the bridges at this point. They are too steep. Finally, the islands halt.

I look back down at Jarus and he looks up at me, "What was that all about?"

I shake my head, "No clue."

Suddenly the sky becomes bright with the Capitol seal and the anthem starts playing. I push a branch aside to see the faces of the dead tributes.

The first unlucky face to appear is Luke Wiley's, from my District.

I saw Jean kill him earlier. He was the first to die in this Games.

Next up is Sage Salereno, from District Eight.

Whatever. She was easy to get. Anybody could've killed her. She wasn't any better than that girl Jarus and I killed earlier. Sara, I think it was.

James Oxford shows up next. He was from District Ten.

Poor kid. I saw Liam take him out. But once again, easy meat.

I wonder if that stupid blind girl made it. Apparently, she did, because the last face to show up is Sara Higgins's.

I smile smugly and I reach down to give Jarus a high-five.

The sky goes back to its dark color and the anthem plays out.

I position myself in the tree to fall asleep and tell Jarus to take first watch. Not even a minute passed after I leaned back against the bark of the tree before I fell alseep.
