Day One (Afternoon)

Autumn Winters's P.O.V. (D2)

I sit down near the cornucopia with my allies. The Bloodbath has finally ended and as usual, we Careers have taken over the cornucopia.

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!

I didn't kill anyone, which I'm glad about.

I looked around. Now that I'm not concentrating on the Bloodbath anymore, I can take in my surroundings.

The arena looks like a mountain theme. The cornucopia rests on a flat plain of grass though. There's an occasional bush or tree on the plain, but the trees turn into more of a forest towards the base of the mountains. Mountains seem to be surrounding the whole field we're in.

"Let's eat, and then go hunting," Clarice speaks up.

Sonya rips open a package of crackers and dried fruit. Then she opens another that's full of beef jerky.

"So why are we going hunting if we already have all this food?" I ask.

Jean grins, "Not hunting for food, hunting for tributes. Duh."

"Oh. Yeah, I knew that..." I say, trying to sound excited.

"So how many kills did you make?" Iona asks us.

"Only one. But you could say that I technically killed two," Jean says, "I was going to kill Amira until her ally did it for me."

"I got two," Iona says, "Riley Holtz from Twelve and Rayla Knight from Six."

Sonya told everyone that she got two, Lydia York and Fiona Chase.

Everyone turns to me, expecting me to say how many I killed.

"Umm I maybe hurt one of them badly," was my only reply.

I had managed to throw one of my knives at Flora, but it only scraped her arm.

"Whatever, if you're all done, we should go," Jean says as she wipes her sword on the grass.

Crimson Grey's P.O.V. (D8)

I sprint through the forest as fast as I can, my breath becoming heavy. I'm glad that I got out of there in time. I managed to get two throwing axes and a pack.

I finally stop to take a breather. I sit down on a rock near a small spring. Now would be a good time to look through my pack, I guess.

I pull it off my back and unzip it. Inside, there is a water bottle (empty), a thin blanket, some string, a package of dried peaches, and some gloves.

I take the water bottle and fill it in the spring. Now, I expect the Careers to go on a tribute hunt soon, so I have a little plan for them.

I took out my blanket and began to tear it into little pieces. I took one of the pieces and tied it onto the branch of a nearby tree. Hopefully, they'll see these and follow them.

As I walk through the woods, I continue to tie more and more of the scraps to branches until I run out.

I climb the tree that the last piece is attached to. Then, I wait.

I grin as I think over my plan. If they split up, like I'm hoping they do, one of them might find my little breadcrumb trail and follow it. Once they reach my position, I'll ambush them. I am really hoping only one of them shows up though.

Sonya Sander's P.O.V. (D2)

"Alright, let's split up," Clarice says, "We can cover more ground that way, and possibly find more tributes."

"Possibly? I'm not coming back to the cornucopia until at least one of us kills someone," Jean says, before walking off towards the forest.

I shrug and pick a different section of the forest and walk to it.

After a solid twenty minutes of walking, I finally reach the forest. I walk in, my sword held tightly in my hand.

I search through the woods as quietly as possible, hoping nobody heard me. I stop to take a break near a spring.

It's so peaceful. I almost wanted to fall asleep to the soft rippling sound of the spring and the occasional chirp of a bird.

I hear a crack behind me and I turn around. All I see is a little rabbit digging in the leaves though.

I breathe out a relieved sigh. Then I see something on the tree behind me, it looks like a piece of cloth.

I walk up to it and pull it off the branch. It is a piece of cloth.

"Someone's shirt must've been snagged on this," I say to myself.

I look at the jacket I'm wearing. All the other tributes are wearing the same thing. The fabric of the cloth and the fabric of my jacket felt a lot different.

I looked around and quickly found another piece attached to another tree.

"Maybe a tribute got lost and couldn't find their way back to their alliance, so they left this trail for them," I smile, "Well, they're gonna find something very different."

I follow the trail, picking the scraps off the branches as I go, to keep anyone else from following.

Eventually, I couldn't find anymore.

"I guess this is where they ran out of cloth pieces."

I look around, but there are no tributes to be seen.

Suddenly, something heavy falls on my shoulders and I collapse to the ground and scream.

When I finally stand back up, I realize that it was Crimson Grey that had landed on me.

She grins at me and holds up her axes.

"I thought you didn't have an alliance, so what was the trail for?" I ask, also pointing my weapon at her.

"For some idiot to follow," she replies as she lunges at me with one of her axes.

I sidestep her attack and swing my sword at her. It grazes her side just barely.

She looks at the tear in her jacket, "Is that the best you can do?"

I don't reply. Instead, I step forward and swing my sword at her again. It arched through the air and landed right on her shoulder, making a deep gash.

She screams and pulls the sword out of her shoulder, wincing as she does it.

I act quickly. While she was pulling out the sword, she had dropped her axes. I bent down to grab them, but that's when I felt it, a searing pain in my back. I fell to the ground and I felt my back quickly becoming wet with my blood.

I can hear her laughing as she pulls the sword slowly out of my back, and wipes it clean on my jacket.

"Thanks for the sword," Crimson smiles menacingly as she walks away.

I find it becoming harder and harder to breathe, until I finally give up.

BOOM!

Grace Price's P.O.V. (D11)

"I wonder who that was..." Kaya peeps from behind me.

I turn to her, "Could've been anyone."

At the moment I'm kinda frustrated. Most of our alliance is dead. They died in the Bloodbath. I told them not to. Only Lydia was supposed to go some of the way to the cornucopia. Whatever. It's just me and Kaya now.

Right now, we are heading to the mountain top. It's better to have the higher ground. Plus, some tributes might not want to go there because of the temperature. Fortunately, we have a lot of blankets in our packs, so we're set.

I hear a rock fall behind us as we start to scale a cliff.

"Shh!" I whisper as quietly as possible to Kaya. She ducks behind a rock on the ledge, while I go down to investigate.

All I have with me is an axe, but it'll do. I don't really have a special weapon of choice.

Another sound of a rock falling comes from the direction I'm heading. Then I hear a cough.

I jump over a boulder and right behind the person, or persons.

It turns out to be none other than Sapphire Lyn and Mandy Woodsworth.

They somehow didn't notice me. Well, I guess my years of being a cat burglar have paid off.

I watch them struggle to climb the cliff side.

I wonder how long it'll take them to notice me. Why not have fun with these two?

I finally decide to follow them closely as if I was someone in their own alliance.

After they make it up to the ledge, I climb up right behind them. When I'm up there too, I spot them starting to walk around a boulder. I catch up to them and actually walk right beside Mandy, who is behind Sapphire.

I can barely hold in laughing as they still keep walking.

When we started to get pretty far from Kaya, I thought I should just leave them. But first, I at least want to let them know I'm here.

"Well, it's been a pleasure walking with you two, but I'm afraid I can't leave my ally behind, so I regret to say that I should be going," I announce loudly.

Both of them jump and grab their weapons, and point them directly at me.

"Ok ok, jeez. If you didn't want me to leave that badly, why didn't you just say something?"

"How long were you standing there?" Sapphire snarls.

"Long enough," I reply with a grin.

"Long enough for what?"

"Long enough to... I'm sorry, I don't know why I said that. I'm getting caught up in the moment."

"Where are your allies?"

"Allies? What allies?" I say, trying to act confused.

Sapphire sighs in annoyance, "Kaya, Riley, Lydia."

"Oh, them. Well, I'm sorry to say that dear Riley and Lydia didn't make it very far," I say, trying to sound sad, "And neither will you."

I take my axe and swing it at Mandy. She screams as it barely misses her.

Sapphire growls and throws her spear at me, but it misses terribly and falls down the cliff side, rendering her weapon less.

Mandy falls to the ground as I kick her in the shin.

Suddenly I collapse as well as she pulls my legs out from under me.

As soon as she stands up, I kick her as hard as I can, sending her flying over the cliff.

"Mandy!" Sapphire screams, looking over the ledge.

BOOM!

"Sorry, some of us gotta make it out of here," I say when I get to my feet.

She screams some colorful curse words at me before she takes off sprinting in a random direction.

I raise my eyebrows, "Well! Someone needs to learn some manners."
