Brenda Long's P.O.V. (D7)

Mason and I finally stop walking and start to set up our campsite in a clearing. We've probably walked the whole way around the island, but that's not saying much. The cornucopia island is pretty small compared to the size the other two islands were. It's small enough that we were able to hear the screaming of other tributes from the other side of the island. Two canons fired also, but the second one was a little while after the first one. I guess we'll find out who they belong to shortly.

Mason tells me to go look for firewood, so I start walking into the woods. It's weird that he can actually have me get the firewood now. These glasses have really changed a lot. I bend down and pick up a stick, and another, until my arms are packed with sticks.

When I'm on my way back to the campsite, the sky turns bright and music starts to play. I run the rest of the way back to the clearing, just as the faces start to appear. Mason is already staring up at the sky when I reach his side. It's nice that I can see who the dead tributes are now, but I still need Mason to tell me some of their names, because I don't know what most of them look like.

The first face to appear belongs to Brendan Hankson, from District Two. I guess he and Liam went hunting. It's such a stupid thing that Careers do. I wonder if Liam joined him.

I guess not, because Tai Hosman's face comes up next. I look down, remembering that I was the one that ended his life.

The anthem fades and the sky goes dark after one last face is projected. Vance Blue, the twin from District Five.

"That leaves five of us left," Mason says aloud, but I was already thinking it.

So that's it. Three other tributes left to kill, and then it's just me and Mason. Cally and Nathan are still allies, I think. So that means that Liam is on his own now. I wonder if he'll still be at the cornucopia. I open my mouth to say something, but then I realize that Mason is already saying it.

"We should go to the cornucopia."
