Murphy
Murphy + Lexi
Lexi stood on the edge of a rocky hill, throwing small stones over it and watching them fall into the treetops below her. She had left camp a few hours previous, tired of all the arguing and worrying about possible Grounder threats- the outcome was to build a defensive wall around them to have some kind of protection against an ambush.
She didn't really care about contributing to it but after the long hours it began to take a toll on her. So deciding she wanted to get some space she went for a walk, knowing how stupid it was seeing as she could get kidnapped or killed by the Grounders.
It was getting dark out and she was debating whether or not to start walking back, she had a blade she had made so she wasn't completely useless against attackers if she were to run into any. With the last stone she had, she throw it as far as she could get it and watched it soar through the air before she couldn't focus on it anymore.
"Shouldn't you be in camp?" She let out a surprised yelp as she spun on her heel, losing her footing as she did. A gasp escaped her lips as she squeezed her eyes shut as she starting to fall. Her breathing hitched as she felt two arms wrap around her waist and roughly pull her back making the pair of them fall forward so they were away from the ledge.
Slowly opening her eyes she realised how close they were, she was literally face to face with John Murphy. They were both breathing heavily and didn't make a move, both still skittish over her possible death.
"Holy shit." She stammered, her head falling against his shoulder as if all her energy had been drained over the ordeal. "Your welcome." He grunted, his voice rough and husky as his hands still lingered on her waist.
"Thank you, granted you scared me half to death." She retaliated, a small pout on her lips as she tried to focus her mind again.
"Lex- could you move an inch or two, you're crushing my-" He groaned as she shifted her weight to the left of him, finally relieving his ache. "I am so sorry!" She apologized with a squeak, blushing red making him offer a half smile. "T-Thanks."
Recovering, he sat up and looked to a still slightly red Lexi. "What're you doing out of camp anyway? A Grounder could've attacked you." She looked away to the view off of the cliff, the darkness now folding in, "I wanted to get away from camp for a bit, it's a nice view out here- I've left a couple times to come here actually."
He raised an eyebrow at the ash-brown haired girl, watching as she slowly got up to her feet and offering him a hand- which he took with a chuckle. "How about we head back, it's already nightfall and the Grounders could be anywhere right now." Murphy suggested, his voice wavering at the slight worry he felt. He didn't want the Grounders finding them, he didn't want Lexi getting hurt.
"Yeah, alright that sounds good." Lexi smiled, quickly taking Murphy's hand and pulling him through the trees, an action that shocked him but instead of pulling away, he tightened his grip on hers and they both jogged through the forest until their camp came into view. Each heading off to their sleeping grounds after saying a quiet goodnight to each other.
Both of them failed at fighting off the happy grin that played on their faces until they both fell into a peaceful slumber.
