Last year, midnight 2016-17 was SUPER important. I had been obsessing over Adam for a whole year before that, and now was my chance to find out his feelings on this topic. It turns out, it worked out great, because look at us now! I glance up from my journal and up at Adam, reading as always with one eye forever trained on me. He looks up at me and I smile. I don't know what he's trying tonight, but I know what I'm doing! I know this part is super important, and you people who are reading this story and/or my journal (by the way, that's really creepy) are dying to know, but you'll just have to wait and see! I would keep writing, but the pattering noise of feet makes me look up. Dawn, followed closely on her heels by Rafael, and Jojo a few steps behind him, are making their ways up to get their midnight injections. Just great. I HATE this part. While I sit there, shuddering and refusing to get up, I find a hand on my shoulder. It's Adam. I smile, knowing that Adam can make me calm in every situation, and will never force me into anything I don't want to. I really do want to do this, so I follow Adam up to the front of the room. While Adam prepares my injection, I take a deep breath and try to think about anything BUT the needles. The first thing in the room that catches my eye is Rafael sitting in a chair a couple feet away. I know it may seem like he's just relaxing and getting ready for his ten minutes of freedom, but I can read people well enough to see his eyes, very carefully and subtly, are trained ever so slightly on Dawn, who is carefully taking mind notes on everyone in the room. She's also completely oblivious to the fact that Rafael really likes her, and is actually staring back while she, not so obliviously, watches him. I may be the only one who knows this, besides Rodney and Tasha who know him well enough to be able to tell everything about him. I'm smiling to myself when I suddenly become aware of the world around me. Adam is softly counting down the last 20 seconds till midnight. I was thinking for that long? I position myself in a chair next to Adam and close my eyes. 3... 2... 1...

I wake up in a room bustling with noise. I immediately know it's homeroom. Why homeroom, though? I rush to find Adam in this impenetrable force also known as school at 8:45 AM and finally locate him waiting patiently in front of my locker. I know it's not appropriate during school, but it's no consequences midnight, and I only have ten minutes! I catch him by the shirt, swivel him around, and full-fledge kiss him. Even though every kid in school may have turned around to stare by now, we don't care. And this is why everything matters.

I wake up in a gym. Huh? The last thing I remember is injecting myself for 11:55... oh! This is my world! I push myself up from the floor and brush myself off, making myself look as presentable as possible for just been on the dirty gym floor. Where's Lila? I run wildly through the halls, looking for Lila, hopefully alone. I finally find her after successfully wasting the first whole 5 minutes! Better work fast! I catch my daily Lila and pull her into a quiet corner. "Um, hi." I wipe my sweaty palms on my pants, trying not to seem like a total idiot (even though I probably already do). Luckily, she smiles back. "Hey, Juan." I try not to blush or notice how she put a little extra effort in her looks today. I am on strict business right now. "Um, so-" "Juan," She smiles, cutting me off. "I like you too. Yes." Is she a fortune teller or something? I do a snoopy happy dance in my head as I smile, taking her hand. Ah, perfect. Who would have known it would have been so perfect?
