Plant Aquarium

Prompt: PLANTS ARE TAKING OVER THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's what I came up with:

~*~

I was excited to go to the Aquarium. We sat down in the car. My six year old brother, who was two years younger than me, was just as ecstatic as I was.

We swam with dolphins, and we watched a sea lion show. We also went to see the turtles, the wales, everything.

We had payed for the night in the shark tank, so when night fell, we lay on the ground of the glass tunnel. It was fascinating to watch the sharks swim around us. They were huge, and there were different types of them, too. My favorites were the hammerheads. I eventually drifted off to sleep, but only after watching them swim for a very long time.

I awoke to the sound of something screeching, followed by a series of loud banging. The water was tinted pink around pieces of dead shark. What had happened? I was shocked. Was this a dream? The banging continued, and I turned my head to see long, thick, green vines in the water. A few wrapped around the tunnel, and squeezed. A thin, white line ran along the tunnel, and a few drips of water fell down the side of the glass.

"Wake up, Matt!" I shook my brother's shoulder.

    "Why?" he grumbled.

"We need to go." I woke my parents up, too, and we slowly inched our way to the opening of the tunnel, hoping that the creature wouldn't notice us.

Matt whimpered in fear, and there was another loud screech, and more pounding. There were more cracks now, and we burst into a sprint. More screeching. The vines pounded on the glass, and my heart pounded in my chest. We had reached the end of the tunnel; we heard a shatter. We ran harder. The water was rushing into the hallway! When we were outside, I noticed that there were only three of us.

    "Mom?" Matt yelled.

"Martha!" my father cried out. "We need to keep going. We need to get far away from here!"

We ran toward the parking lot, along with many other people, past the gift shop, past the food trucks.

We were almost to the car, when, suddenly, a vine burst out of the ground in front of us, and grabbed Matt's ankle. The plant gave another scream, which we echoed. I reached for Matt's hand, but he was already gone.

That was also a sad one. I'll try to lighten up these stories in the future.
