24.) Cultural Festival
It's now getting to the end of October, and outside is beginning to get colder.
"We have a cultural festival," Aizawa speaks up.
"Sensei, have you been to Eri-chan's today?" Tsu asks.
"Ahh, let's table that matter," Aizawa tells her.
After the whole past and future thing, Aizawa and Kivi have been visiting Eri for the past couple days. They even brought Akiba after the second day so Eri could have a friend close to her age. He's decided to call her his sister. The two have gotten really close.
They eventually get to the topic to what they should do.
"Please allow me, Class 1-A president Iida Tenya, to facilitate some progress!" Iida shouts, over doing it as usual. "I will try my best to narrow down ideas smoothly." Momo grins next to him. "First, let us pick some possible themes! Those with suggestions, raise your hands!"
Immediately the class explodes with suggestions. Kaminari is chosen first.
"Let's do a maid cafe!"
"That's too tame, Kaminari!!! A titty bar!" Mineta screams.
He's immediately thrown in a bag and tied up, hanging from the ceiling with a rope held by Tsu.
(🤣🤣 I love how they wrote down titty bar anyway!!!)
"I'm going to erase all of the ones that are inappropriate or unrealistic and the ones that I don't really understand," Momo says.
Mineta, Yuga, Fumikage, and Katsu's all get voted out immediately. As does Iida's local history thing and Momo's study hall. Momo combines all the food together which people complained the food would clash. A big class argument ensues. Kivi keeps to herself, really not wanting to do this dumb festival.
The bell rings.
"It was a pointless meeting in the end, huh?" Aizawa sighs annoyed. "Make a decision by tomorrow morning. In the event that you cannot decide... we'll have a public lecture."
At that the class groans.
~~~
Everyone groups in the common room to make a final decision and it ends up being a live performance and dance with party space.
...
This day, Mirio and Izuku were joining Aizawa, Kivi, and Akiba to the hospital to see Eri. Eri requested to see the two. This is the first time she's asked for anything since being hospitalized.
Aizawa, Kivi, and Aki stay near the doorway as Eri talks to Izuku and Mirio.
"We're sorry we couldn't come see you earlier," Izuku tells her.
Mirio lifts up a basket of fruits. "It's an assortment of fruits! If you like them, then eat them up! Do you have a favorite fruit? Can I guess? It's peaches, isn't it? You're kinda peachy after all!"
"It's apples," Eri says.
"Just like I thought!" Mirio exclaims.
Kivi rolls her eyes.
The apple in the basket is sliced for Eri and put on a plate on the table beside the bed. They get some chairs for Mirio and Izuku to sit beside her bed.
"This whole time, even when I had a fever, I-I was thinking that, even while I was being s-saved... I didn't know your name," she tells Izuku. "I only knew Lemillion-san and nee-san's, and I wanted to know."
"It's Midoriya Izuku, and my hero name is Deku," Izuku proudly tells her. "Um... Deku is shorter, so it'll probably be easier to remember. Deku it is! My name is Deku!"
"Deku-san, Lemillion-san, and nee-san... everyone... got really hurt, all because of me..." Eri mumbles. "I'm sorry you all had to experience such painful things all because of me."
"Erichan. Nobody thinks you caused them painful things. Everyone's thinking something more like this: 'It's great that Erichan is safe'! It's no use apologizing to people that aren't there! Let's take it easy. Everyone fought because they wanted to see your smiling face!"
Eri tries to smile, even going so far as to push her mouth up with her fingers. She sniffles. "I'm sorry... how do you smile again?"
It's silent for a bit before Izuku perks up. "Aizawa sensei, can't Erichan go out for even one single day?"
"It's probably not impossible, however... how should I put it? Where she'll be transferred to..."
"Then can Erichan come too, to the cultural festival?! Can Erichan come too?"
Mirio explains to her what that is and becomes totally interested at the part where he mentioned candied apples.
"Let's talk it over with the principal," Aizawa says, already typing on his phone.
"Well then, Erichan... what do you think?" Izuku asks.
"I-I've been thinking ever since I was being saved... About the people who saved me... Nee-san and everyone else, I want to get to know them more!" Eri says.
"I'll tell you about us until you can't take it anymore!" Mirio exclaims. "Let's start working to get the go ahead from the principal! I currently have off for a few days of rest, so I can be on a constantly supervised date with Erichan, right?!"
"Date?" Eri tilts her head confused.
"A honeymoon couple's outing!"
"Honeymoon couple's outing?" Eri questions again.
"Senpai, what are you saying?" Izuku asks exasperated.
Kivi walks over with a smile. "Imouto."
"Nee-san!" Eri says excitedly. "Otouto!"
Kivi moves onto the bed and sits next to her. Aki climbs up onto her other side.
"That's who you meant by nee-san," Izuku mutters.
...
Class 1-A is gathered in the common room of the dorms, deciding on how they're going to do this cultural festival. Akiba sits next to Bakugo on the couch, much to the older boy's annoyance. Akiba has decided that he likes Bakugo the most, much to the confusion of everyone. He says the reason he likes him the most is because he reminds him of Kivi. He's even going so far as to call him nii-san.
The reason he's with Bakugo is because Kivi, being as she's involved with the whole Eri thing, is interning alongside Mirio and Izuku with Sir Nighteye now. So, all the intern students are currently on their way back from supplementary classes.
They arrive in the middle of decisions about the festival.
Ochaco immediately involves herself with the conversation. "Huh? Jiro, you're not singing?"
So that's her name, Kivi thinks.
"Oh no, we still haven't–" she begins but is cut off.
"If it's vocals, let us handle it! We'll be a hit!" Mineta says.
"In addition to being the disco ball, I can sing," Yuga says.
"Disco ball?" Kivi murmurs confused.
"Alright! I can't play any instrument, but if it's singing, I'm confident!" Kirishima supplies.
Akiba makes his way through to Kivi as the three boys show off their horrible singing. "I think big sis should sing! She really good!" He's picked up by Kivi and lets out a tired yawn.
Everyone turns to her in surprise.
"Yeah, I'm not gonna sing," Kivi deadpans. "I don't want any part in this stupid festival."
"Well, I also think it should be Jirochan!" invisible girl perks up. "'Cause earlier when she was teaching me in her room, her singing was AMAZING!"
"Hey... don't make things more complicated," Jiro stutters nervously.
"It's fine, it's fine," invisible says, pulling the microphone over to her.
Jiro sighs and begins to nervously sing very well, blowing everyone away especially the three boys.
They continue to choose roles until one in the morning.
Bakugo was already chosen for drums, Kaminari gets a guitar, as does Fumikage, Jiro on vocals, and Momo ends up playing the piano aka keyboard. That's the band team.
The staging team ends up being Shoto, Sero, Yuga, Kirishima, and Koda.
Finally, the dance team ends up being everyone else. Even Hades and Lucifer are decided to be put in it.
Everyone turns to Kivi.
"You're the only one who doesn't have a role," Iida says.
"Good, let's keep it that way. I'd rather watch you all horribly fail," Kivi replies.
"You have to have a role!" Iida huffs.
Akiba pouts with his puppy dog eyes, looking up at her in annoyance. "Sing!"
Kivi turns to him with a light annoyed glare, quickly looking away from his puppy dog eyes that she can never seem to resist. The class looks on in fascination, curious to see if this will work.
Akiba begins to fakingly sniffle.
"I know you're faking it," Kivi replies, keeping her eyes closed with her arms crossed. "I'm not gonna sing."
"Pwetty pwease!" he sniffles.
"No."
Mina and Ochaco decide to kneel down beside him and make the same face. "Pwease!" all three call out.
"No."
Kirishima decides to join in along with Kaminari. "Pwease!"
"No."
"Just do it, blueberry," Bakugo huffs. "You gotta do something."
"I'll play a tree during the play."
"There's not gonna be any trees!" they complain.
"Then you're outta luck."
"Pwease sing!" the group calls again.
Kivi gets a glance of her brother and sighs. "Fuck, fine. I'll be the other singer, happy?"
They all make a collective thought, Can't believe that worked!
"Not until we know how you sound!" Kirishima voices.
"Do I have to?"
"Yes!" they all cry out.
Mina pushes the mic in front of her.
Kivi sighs and decides just to sing a range. Scales and Arpeggios in French. Akiba smiles happily and sings the boy part. Kivi smiles down proudly at him for remembering the words.
The whole class looks at her in awe at her smile and her singing. One thought again, wow...
Kivi and Akiba finish together. She sighs, resting bitch face returning. "There, happy now?"
"Kivi-san! You're so good!" Ochaco squeals, leaping towards her for a hug.
Kivi easily evades her. "Whatever. Can I go now? It's way past Aki's bedtime and I still need to take Hades and Lucifer for a walk."
...
It's Saturday, and the school decided to let the hero course students off to their festival ideas. Kivi, Aizawa, Akiba, and Mirio went to pick up Eri from the hospital to bring her to U.A. Principal Nezu decided that Eri would likely be overwhelmed with all the people at the official festival and decided that she should come beforehand to get used to more people than she's used to.
"And here we are!" Mirio exclaims. "It's okay!! Everyone's nice here," Mirio says, looking at Eri's nervous but awed face. "Welcome to U.A!"
"Well, everyone but Bakugo, but don't take his words to heart he doesn't mean them... usually."
They make their way towards the 1-A dorms where the dance team is practicing out front. Mirio pulls everyone to hide behind a bush.
"Doesn't seem like anyone's noticed yet..." Mirio mumbles.
"Why are we hiding?" Aizawa asks.
"Hmm... what sort of sudden entrance will get a laugh out of them...?" Mirio mumbles.
Izuku notices him peeking from around the bush. "Ah! Togata-senpai!"
Mirio doesn't say anything, trying to figure out how to make everyone laugh still.
Kivi walks out and Eri follows with her hand in Kivi's. Ochaco, Tsu, and Izuku look at Eri in surprise. Mirio finally decides and sticks his butt through the bush, but no one is paying attention to him at this point.
"Deku-san," Eri voices.
"What!!? Wait, wait, is that senpai's kid...!?" Mashi and big lips shout. The two never even question Aizawa, guessing he would never have a kid.
Kivi rolls her eyes.
"What a gweat wittle outfit," Tsu smiles.
"Sooo cuteee!" Ochaco cheers.
Mirio bends down in sadness as no one gives him attention, concerning Eri.
"We got permission from the principal," Aizawa speaks up. "Just to make sure she doesn't get shocked or panic, we're bringing her beforehand to get used to the place."
Eri slightly hides behind Kivi.
"Eri-chan... Oh, the child from the internship! I'm Iida! Nice to meet you!"
"I'm looking forward to meeting you again in ten years! I'm Mineta."
Kivi surrounds him in a bubble and flings him as far as she possibly can.
"You're Tereya-san, right?" Mirio asks Iida.
"Tereya-san, you say?" Iida questions, looking to Eri now completely hiding behind Kivi.
"In any case, we're planning on walking around U.A. with Erichan now. Midoriya-kun, how 'bout you come with!?" Mirio asks.
The front doors to the dorm are suddenly slammed open. "Heyyy, dance team! We want to talk about... Huh? Erichan!!?" Kirishima shouts, rushing up to Eri. "Hey, hey! Do you not know who I am?"
"Well then, let's take a break! Tea time!" Mina calls out to the dance group.
Aizawa leaves Eri in Kivi's care. Mirio, Izuku, Eri, Kivi, and Akiba head off along school grounds. Mirio decides to lead them where his year is working on their festival preparations. Eri has one hand in Mirio's and the other in Akiba's who's other hand is in Kivi's.
A few students notice them.
"Well, if it isn't Togata!" one calls out.
They both take notice to the two kids and their eyes drag along each connected arm.
"What did you do during your break...!? Don't tell me you have a wife and kids!?"
Kivi turns to them in a ticked off glare as Mirio gives them a tired looking smile.
"Hey, say something...! I guess it must be true then!!" the first boy says.
"It's called siblings, retards," Kivi scoffs.
"Okay, okay, putting jokes aside, this year's class A is killing it. You better come too!" the first boy says.
Suddenly a big dragon face is in their faces, scaring Izuku.
"'Scuse me... Wait, it's Midoriya from Class A and that new transfer girl!" Tetsutetsu shouts.
"Wait, wait, wait, wha?! Chit-chatting in a place like this? You got that much time on your hands!?" Monoma scoffs with a condescending tone.
Kivi is watching as Izuku talks to Eri.
"Erichan, are you okay!!?" Izuku asks.
"I thought it was the falling lady," Eri says, talking about Ryukyu.
"Oi, oi! You ignorin' me!? You think that's okay!!?" Monoma fusses. "You guys are putting on some kind of live performance, I hear!? I wonder how that'll go! This time I'll tell you straight up: We of class B are gonna be better than you!" He grins and points. "'Romeo, Juliet, and the Prisoner of Azkaban: The Return of the Kings' class B's completely original super special fantasy play!"
"Sounds familiar and stupid," Kivi comments with an eye roll.
"Better get ready! We're gonna shame you to tears! I'll have a handkerchief for when it happens!!" he continues with a crazed laugh.
One of his classmates with a bandana comes up behind him with a plank of wood. He smacks the back of Monoma's head to knock him out of his rant.
"He has more to say every time he speaks...!" Izuku says.
"Sorry, class A, Kendo's not here, so he went unchecked," the boy with the plank sighs.
Izuku turns back trying to spot something. "There was this image of Monoma-kun on a set..."
The boy lifts Monoma up. "This time, it's different. He's running for Miss Con, though he's being forced against his will."
"Miss Con?" Kivi voices confused. "Monoma may be girly, but I didn't think he's actually a girl."
His classmate snickers. "Oh, he's definitely a boy. He's just being extra as per usual."
"Sensei didn't say a single word to us about Miss Con," Izuku says.
"Kivi, you should join the beauty pageant!" Aki exclaims.
"Yeah, you already got me singing. I sure as shit am not gonna do that," Kivi says, earning a pout of annoyance from the boy.
Mirio apologizes to Eri about seeing the school's bad side then mentions that Nejire is also in Miss Con. They then go visit her along with Tamaki and some other of their classmates. She talks about the Miss Con pageant to them. After that, they visit the support department room. They quickly leave after one of Hatsume's inventions blows up. They end up in the cafeteria where Eri decides that she would like to go to the festival to see how everything turns out.
~~~
Eri leaves with Aizawa back to the hospital and the four UA students return to their classes to get ready for the festival.
~~~
Night falls and Kivi heads out with her three wild cats for their nightly walk. Shinso is spotted on the bench as usual.
"Hitochan!" Kivi shouts out, knowing it annoys the boy.
"Just when I was starting to enjoy the quiet," he sarcastically groans.
"I know you love me," Kivi retorts, sitting next to him. "So, what are you doing for the cultural festival?"
"A haunted house maze."
"Ooh fun."
"I heard you're doing some play concert thing."
"Yeah, I'm singing."
"Really? Didn't take you as a singer."
"I'm not. I was forced to do it," she sighs.
"Well, I'll be sure to come watch and make fun of you."
"Thanks." She rolls her eyes in amusement.
...
It's been a month. The day of the festival has finally arrived. Class 1-A's play begins at 10am. Izuku slides in around five minutes before it starts. Kivi gives him an annoyed look at his injuries. She quickly heals him, telling him she'll ask questions later. He gets changed and freshened up quickly.
To say the play was a success would be an understatement. Kivi will admit she actually had a lot of fun just not to anyone else.
And all the fun did make Eri give the biggest smile anyone has ever seen. Her dark confinement was completely released. Mirio cried as he got the full view of her smile as he was holding her above the crowd on one shoulder along with Akiba on his other with a smile just as big.
After the concert, they all begin to clean up and all see from a distance as Izuku gets scolded by All Might then shouted at by Hound Dog, the school's counselor.
Mirio along with the two kids walk up to them.
"Yoo! Nice job back there!" Mirio greets Izuku and Kivi as she walks up from noticing her brother coming towards them.
Eri begins to talk excitingly. "At first,"
"I said 'waaaah' too!" Eri says happily. "And, nee-san's voice was pretty too!"
Izuku tears up as Kivi smiles at her smile.
"I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself!" Izuku exclaims, wiping his tears.
After that, they all go to the beauty pageant and enjoy the rest of the festival together.
The end of the festival eventually comes and it's time for Eri to go back. Eri, Akiba, Kivi, Mirio, Izuku, and Aizawa stand at the gate to the front. Snipe is standing from afar by the gate, still on patrol for the festival.
Eri once again looks sad, having to say goodbye. Izuku cheers her up with a candy apple.
He pulls the apple from behind his back, presenting it in front of Eri. "Surprise!"
"A candy apple! Were they selling those?! I looked everywhere!" Mirio exclaims.
Izuku explains that he made them himself.
"Well, don't worry. You'll meet again soon enough," Aizawa says.
Eri takes a small bite of the apple and giggles. "It's even sweeter."
Akiba gives Eri a hug goodbye before Mirio, Aizawa, and Eri leave. The three remaining behind wave them goodbye till they can no longer see them.
...
November is officially over and December has started. It's the day after the festival. U.A. is now in charge of Eri or more specifically Aizawa is. She's gonna be staying with Akiba and Kivi on her floor, so one of the two quirk cancellers can get to her quickly if there's a problem. Cementoss has created a third room in Kivi's floor while school was in session. Turns out Eri doesn't have any relatives that are worthwhile. Her horn, the source of her power, has grown just a tiny bit. It's another reason she's staying at U.A. and not a foster home.
"Everyone go back to their dorms. 1-A, has visitors coming," Aizawa says after his little talk to the interns.
Everyone leaves but Kivi. "Soo?"
"What?"
"When am I gonna officially be a big sister of a little sister, dad?" Kivi asks with a shit eating grin.
"I'm disowning you."
"Oh, come on. You're totally going to adopt her, aren't you?"
"I'm not ready for a kid."
"You already have two," Kivi says. "Three if you include Hitochan."
"Hitochan?"
"Hitoshi," Kivi says. "He told me that you've been training him."
"Didn't know you talked."
"Every night usually. He's typically out when I walk my big cats."
"Speaking of cats, we should get going," Aizawa says and heads back into the dorms.
A few minutes later, the special guests arrive and reveal themselves to be the Wild Wild Pussycats.
"Kota-kun! Long time no see!!" Izuku greets.
Kivi moves beside him. "Hey, Kotachan."
Izuku happily shakes his hand as Kota turns away embarrassed. "Thanks for the letter! I've been treasuring it!"
"It's... whatever."
"Midoriya-kun, Kivi-kun, look," his aunt points out his shoes and hat.
"Huh?"
"H-Hey, stop it!" Kota complains.
"He picked the shoes out himself saying that they had to be red," she giggles. "He even wanted to replace his previous hat with this one saying it had to be blue."
"H-Hey... that's not true..." Kota mumbles embarrassed.
"Looks like we match now!" Izuku says, earning a shy smile from Kota.
Kota notices Eri and Aki hiding behind Kivi's legs.
Kivi pushes the two in front of her to Kota. "Kota, this is my younger brother, Akiba, and new sister, Eri. Hopefully you three will become good friends."
Akiba smiles. "Hi, Kota! I'm Akiba! Let's be friends!"
The three kids move off to talk and play.
The reason for the Pussy Cats being here is for the billboard chart. The hero rankers figured it's time to redo it since it's been a few months since All Might retired. The Pussy Cats leave, leaving Kota to stay behind.
"What are we, a babysitting service?" Bakugo scoffs.
Kivi plops herself between him and Kirishima on the couch. "Not like you actually care." She leans against him and props her legs into Kirishima's lap.
Bakugo shoves her, but she doesn't budge. "Get off me."
"Make me, pommi. Wanna know something I learned?"
"No."
"Too bad. Anyway, pommi is Finnish for bomb."
"Seriously?!" Kirishima asks.
"Yep, so it's a perfect name for both your quirk and your hair," Kivi nods.
The tv in the common room is turned on to the channel where the billboard chart is being presented.
From tenth to first: Ryukyu, Yoroimusha, Wash, Kamui Woods, Crust, Miruko, Edgeshot, Best Jeanist, Hawks, and in first is Endeavor.
...~~~...
Just wanted to point out that image with Bakugo and Kiri snuggling is edited. This is the actual manga. It's not canon. But Momo tickling Kaminari totally is canon.
