Freddy

The next day when Freddy saw Foxy, he had no idea how to feel.

When Foxy walked through the door, he had an eyepatch covering one of the eyes that Freddy had previously punched. He limped forward with every step he took and had a very blank look in his eye. Freddy knew that he had hurt him, but he didn't know he had hurt him that bad.

In the lunchroom before school, Chica had some very interesting news.

"Did you touch the painting?" she asked.

Freddy was shocked. Did she really know about the painting? He slowly nodded, and to his own dismay, Bonnie had nodded too.

"What happened in your simulations?" Chica asked, but more insistently this time.

Freddy croaked out, still shocked by when she talked about the painting before, "Um, in mine you guys were in a beautiful meadow place. Then you guys were encouraging each other to . . . um . . . kill yourselves." He almost felt his eyes seeping tears. "Then, you guys were really angry at me for trying to save you as the entire area was getting destroyed. Then, you blamed me for it all being destroyed and . . ." Soon a tear slipped down his cheek. He put his arms over his head and kept his arms over his head, not showing Bonnie or Chica his sadness.

"Was that it?" Chica asked as soft as a bird.

Freddy nodded, not wanting to speak anymore. Maybe that was why he was being so rude to everyone. Maybe that was why he spread those mean rumors about Foxy. He knew they weren't true, but he just wanted to get back at him for . . . not doing anything. His heart swelled and he hung his head low.

Chica asked Bonnie about her simulation. Bonnie shivered and started, "I was in this huge city, on top of a tall building. The ground started shaking and when I didn't know what to do, I jumped off of the building because . . . I don't know. I wasn't thinking. . . ."

Freddy had a sob stuck in his throat. He was reminded of when Bonnie tried to jump into the crevice, swinging back and forth and trying to get him in, too. He didn't even want to listen to her simulation, but he couldn't help but let a little bit of it in."

" . . . then a giant ball smashed into the building and carried me with it. I jumped off before a building almost smashed into me, but I hit the ground and everything just . . . exploded. Then I was back in the painting room."

Chica nodded, looking at her like a psychologist would look at a patient. "Interesting . . ." she mused. "Wanna hear about mine?"

Freddy was reluctant to answer, but curiosity won the war. "Yes," he said with a nod.

Chica nodded and shivered slightly. "I actually had two. In the first one, after I touched the orb-"

"The orb?" Bonnie interrupted. "You touched it too?"

"You guys had the orb too?" Chica asked, nodding to Bonnie.

Freddy nodded, not wanting to speak. He already had too much on his mind right now.

Chica looked down, continuing with her story. "I touched the orb and was sent back to the room with the painting. You guys were there-including Foxy. Then I asked to leave the room, but Freddy . . ." Her Adams Apple bobbed. ". . . disintegrated when I touched him. Then Bonnie and Foxy came at with me with knives. I tried to stop them, but I destroyed Foxy in the process. I didn't want to hurt Bonnie, so when everything around me started to disintegrated when I touched it and then I had to touch my chest to keep from destroying anything else." Tears listened brightly on her cheeks as she buried her hands into her face.

Bonnie's face suddenly lit up. "I have an idea."

"What?" Freddy asked.

"We all have to go in a simulation together. Doesn't it make sense?"

Chica looked at her quizzically. "I don't think so."

Bonnie laughed. "We all need to go together. We all seem to die in our simulations. What if we went together? Maybe we could live to the end?"

Freddy mused. It sounded like a good idea. He looked at her and nodded. "We just need to get Foxy." He looked outside and sighed. Foxy was out there talking to a bunch of people who were asking about the eyepatch. He turned back around. "You guys get him on board. I can't do it."

When Chica brought the news that Foxy was coming with them, Freddy still didn't know how to feel. When the girls brought them over to Room 13, him and Foxy never spoke a word to each other. He opened the door for the group and helped them in, but everyone else worked on getting the B1 passageway open. They got in and into the painting room. Freddy could hear them all sigh. He sighed himself.

"How will we all get into the painting?" Freddy mumbled, walking toward the painting. Everyone else followed quietly as they stared at the painting of the man. Why did he seem so familiar to Freddy? He didn't know who he was, but it was on the tip of his tongue. And the color . . .

Freddy thought for a moment. If touching the painting meant going into the simulation, what would happen if four people touched it at the same time? Would that work?

Freddy voiced his idea and there were murmurs of agreement. Everyone walked up to the painting and Freddy stared at the texture, which was a beautiful bumpiness. Freddy looked to everyone and breathed, "On the count of three, we all touch it at the same time. Okay?"

Everyone nodded, including Foxy. Freddy turned back and raised his hand inches from the painting, shivering. "One . . ." he mumbled. "Two . . ." Was it a good idea? Was it really worth it?

Freddy closed his eyes and said slowly, "Three."

Everything exploded into light as they were back in the same room with the orb. But what took all of their breath away was what they saw different.

The walls, the ceiling, everything, was crashed down to the ground, as though some sort of earthquake had ripped through it.

"What . . . happened?" Bonnie asked slowly.

Freddy's eyes were wide with fear. "How did this happen?" he asked.

"I don't know," Chica croaked. "But the orb is still in the air! Look!" She pointed her finger across the damage.

Freddy grinned. "Let's go and touch it at the same time!" he insisted.

Everyone started forward and stumbled through the rubble, which was quite a ways. Once they had made it through and made it to the orb, looking at it with shock. Instead of the usual blue it usually shone or the simple monochromatic traits it had, it was alternating between brown, purple, yellow, red, and purple. It seemed mad as it vibrated and spun, out of control.

"What's happening?" Chica asked with power.

"I don't know!" Foxy squealed frantically. "We have to touch it now! I think something bad will happen if we don't!"

Freddy took a deep breath, determined. "Alright, on the count of three again, alright? One, two, three!" Freddy stretched out his hand and made contact with the orb, as everyone else did. Everything instantly changed.

They were standing in a giant field of long golden rods of grain. The sunlight was startled as it danced off of everything.

They were all standing in a big square. Freddy looked around and didn't find anything suspicious. All there was was an expansive field and bright blue skies. That was all there was.

Suddenly, a man whose clothes were the same color as the guy in the painting appears in the center of the square, smiling devilishly. "You can't win. Not with the plan I have set."

"What will happen?" Foxy asked. Freddy was shocked that he was already speaking up.

"What will happen? Oh, nothing really. I would just love to see what happens when you are thrown into a situation like . . . THIS!" The man suddenly split off into many clones of himself, too many to count. Instantly, they all started running toward Freddy, Foxy, Bonnie, and Chica, laughing menacingly.

The two that charged toward Freddy grabbed his arms and threw him to the ground. His breath was knocked out of him as he struggled against their grips, thrashing fiercely. When he realized that his legs were free, he swung each of them up, catching each man by the groin. Each fell right off of Freddy as he rolled out, springing up and exploding into a mad run in the other direction.

"Freddy!" a girl shouted. "Help me!"

Freddy turned around and saw both Chica and Bonnie being attacked by the clones of the men. Freddy sprinted back as fast as he could, ignoring the yells of the men behind him.

Two men were on top of Chica, wrestling her intensely. Freddy charged forward and slammed each of them, barreling into the golden reeds of grass.

One punched Freddy in the stomach when he was on the ground. Freddy yelled in pain, but fought them off as best as he could.

The deep and profound sound of ground cracking filled Freddy's ears. With a long kick, he launched the two guys off of him, Chica screaming, "The ground! It's tearing apart!"

Freddy scrambled to his feet and looked across the long field, hoping that a man wouldn't tackle him.

The ground was ripping and breaking apart like glaciers, floating and going up and down like waves. They started to drift apart, and it soon looked like the ocean with gold grass littering the top.

A man slammed into Freddy from the side. He yelped and fell to the ground as the man tried to get his fingers around Freddy's throat. Soon, he succeeded and Freddy could no longer breathe, making squealing noises.

That was when a dark shape darted across Freddy's fuzzy vision. It took the man off of Freddy, leaving him spiraling into a mad coughing fit. He got on his hands and knees, looking over to see Foxy attacking the man with the same mad eyes that he had attacked Freddy with.

He knew exactly how to feel.

Proud.

Freddy got up onto his hands and knees, seeing that he was now standing on a grassy chunk in the middle of an expanse of purple lava. Around him, his friends were with many clones of the man, attacking viciously. Freddy looked up drearily.

When he saw a man flying toward him with a wide grin, Freddy was horrified as he was forced down to the ground, his head inches from the purple lava. He looked up at the man in top of him. Freddy just knew that this was the real one.

"You . . . will not . . . pass this test," the man said, panting heavily with his hand in Freddy's neck, pushing him closer and closer to the lava. He couldn't do anything but wait for his head to be sizzled in the lava.

"Yes . . . I will," Freddy seethed. He grunted and twisted to the side, the man suddenly starting to roll off. Finally, Freddy kicked the man as hard as he could. He yelled as he rolled to the side. Unfortunately, he had rolled too far. He rolled right off of the side, screaming as he fell into the purple lava.

Freddy scrambled up and stood on the wobbling piece of ground he stood on. He wanted hard, looking around at all of his friends. He laughed when he found that there were no more clones of the man. He waved to his friends, yelling, "We did it!"

Everyone whooped and clapped as the environment around them switched back to the painting room. They found themselves laughing and talking about what had happened. Freddy looked up, and his smile completely failed.

The same man stood in front of them, the same on Freddy had tossed into the lava. He looked well, smiling and with his arms crossed. He laughed. "You really thought it was over?"

Suddenly, all of the kids felt themselves being pulled toward the man as he laughed hard. Freddy could feel it in his heart as the man pulled them all toward him. Everyone screamed and tried to hold onto something, only finding nothing.

When they were in arms length of the man, gravity switched back to normal as he grabbed Bonnie and Chica and Foxy. Freddy was narrowly missed by the man's greedy hands as he reached out for everyone to come with him. Freddy ran to the wall and turned around, watching as the man carried everyone toward the door.

Freddy had to stop him. With a grunt, he charged forward and sprinted toward the man, but within a few paces, Freddy flew back from some unnamed force, landing in a heap on the ground.

Before the man disappeared out the door, he smirked at Freddy and said, "Oh, by the way, wanna know what my name is?"

Freddy looked up at him angrily, but still nodded.

"Jonathan." And then he was gone with Freddy's friends.
