The Library

"Sama, I would recommend you going somewhere else than the libr-"

"Shut up," I growled.

Already, eight days had passed since I had come into this world from my math class. As I had figured out pretty quickly, the voice in my headphones, who I decided to call Koe to nentō (声と念頭, Voice and Mind), or Koe for short, wasn't very useful. First of all, Koe had a wonderful insight to take only me and nothing else, which has proved very troublesome, since I usually have little money on me at school. Second, my Japanese comprehension isn't very high, due to my failure to finish my online course in time before I got reeled away into this world. And Finally: since Koe is inside can only be heard by myself, I sometimes will reply back to her (that was what I decided Koe was) without thinking and the Japanese would look at me like I was crazy.

Now, getting back to the current situation, Koe was trying her best to dissuade me from going to the public library, which I had found had a TON of books, (thankfully, they had books that were Japanese to English) and was a great way to pass time. Also, it gave me a great distraction since I had gone through my money about three days ago, and I haven't eaten anything in a while.

"Sama, I truly believe that you should not go to the library today. I have the belief that something will happen if you go today," said Koe.

I scoffed. "You are worried about me when you took me from math class, plopped me into Japan bearly any money or a warning?" I say as I turned down the main street that the library was on.

"Also, where else would I go anyway? It's not like I have a house anywhere in this world." as I said that, I was walking up the steps and pulling my headphones off, which effectively mutes Koe.

(So for the next few parts, everything is in Japanese, but I don't want to write all that Japanese on the computer, so please use your Imagination! :) )

As I walked into the library, I was greeted by one of the volunteers, Sana-san.

"Konnichiwa, Avid-san!" she said when she saw me "The book that you wanted just came in today, would you like to check it out?"

I nodded and replied with a wave.

"Oh, it is? Yes, I would like to do that, thank you very much, Sana-san."

Sana-san was a middle-aged woman that also worked part-time at the McDonalds down the street. She has a shy personality at first, but when you get to know her, she is very outgoing. She is also kind and was very helpful to me when I first started coming to the library, pointing me to the language section and helping me pick a good English-Japanese book. Another good thing about her is she isn't very nosy and has excellent English skills.

After I had handed her my library card and started across to the manga section, I suddenly had that feeling on the back of my neck-the one that you usually get when someone is watching you- but when I glanced around, everyone that was there was reading books or just staying to themselves, so I just dismissed it and went on looking at the new volumes of Edens Zero.

At that point, Koe decided to start throwing a fit, which in her case meant making my headphones vibrate around my neck.

"What do you want?" I said as I put the headphones on "I'm already here so you can't talk me out of going."

Koe never got the opportunity to answer.

Because that's when the screaming started.

Thank you for all the reads! I was super surprised when I saw that I had over 100 views and was ranked #16 in Slime. I really like reading the comments that you guys have written (even though they are few they make my day) and I hope that you will keep on looking forward to reading my story!

Random picture I took of my uncle and the Rimuru plushy I made him for Christmas :)
