[3] Dog to Host
Ryuuki's View
Haruhi and I were sent to get some coffee for the guests that would supposedly be arriving soon. Haruhi decided on taking me to a convenience store to get some instant coffee. From what he told me when I asked, instant coffee was a commoner's coffee. It was instant though, which made it sound very appealing to me. I've personally never tried it. Mother and Father prefer their high class coffee, in which I have to say, is bitter and just disgusting. Hopefully this isn't too bad.
As we walked back into the so-called abandoned music room, the tall blonde, whose name we found out to be Tamaki, walked over to us. "Thanks for shopping for us, piglets." Tamaki chirped, waving at us in a thanking manner. "Did you get everything?"
We both ignored his second question. "Piglet?" We uttered out.
I sighed and grabbed the bag from Haruhi, handing it to Tamaki.
He looked into the bag and took out the instant coffee, staring at it in confusion. "So, what's this?" He asked up, peering down at the instant coffee in his hand.
"Exactly what it looks like: coffee." Haruhi said.
Tamaki furrowed his eyebrows together. "I've never seen this brand before. Is this the kind that's already ground?" He asked us.
"It's called instant coffee." I corrected him.
"Yeah." Haruhi agreed.
Tamaki frowned, but a knowing look quickly overcame his face. "Oh, commoners coffee, where you only need to add water to it, right?" Tamaki stated.
I shrugged my shoulders, "I guess so."
"Commoners do have their wisdom." Glasses guy, also known as Kyoya, added.
The twins, Hikaru and Kaoru, walked over and examined the coffee. "It says 100g costs about 300 yen." Kaoru said.
Hikaru nodded, "That's an incredible price drop." He pointed out in awe.
I nodded in agreement with them. My parents spent about 2,000 yen just on coffee that isn't even good, well, in my opinion at least.
"I'll go but something else then. Excuse me for not buying the expensive beans that you're all used to." Haruhi grumbled out.
"I'll go back with you---" I started.
"No--- Wait!" Tamaki shouted, catching the attention of everyone in the room. "I will drink this!"
Everyone gasped. The girls around him stared at him in horror with their mouths wide open. Then, they started to clap, cheering Tamaki for his bravery on waiting to try commoner's coffee. I sighed and shook my head. Sometimes being rich was a real embarrassment.
"Haruhi, Ryuuki, come over here and make this coffee." Tamaki ordered suddenly.
I blinked, "Huh? I mean, I don't really know how to, but if you say so." I muttered, walking alongside Haruhi.
"Oh, Tamaki-sama. You carry the joke too far." A girl laughed, "There's no way that such a lowly persons drink will be to your taste."
Haruhi frowned, "Huh?"
I glanced over at the girl who spoke, eyebrows raised. "I'm sorry, what was that?" I asked.
She shook her head. "Forgive me. I was talking to myself." She apologized with a closed eye smile.
I pursed my lips together and decided to brush what she said off. I guess she was just being weird. Who knew?
"Haruhi! Ryuuki!" Tamaki called.
"Coming..." Haruhi groaned as we both walked over to the table where Tamaki was standing.
Haruhi told me to grab some cups and I did. I set the cups on the table, while Haruhi put some of the instant coffee into each cup. Haruhi told me to grab some hot water. I poured some of the hot water into each and every cup. After I was finished, I placed the jug holding the hot water elsewhere.
"There's you go." Haruhi said.
Tamaki stuck a sudden pose, scaring me slightly. "Let the tasting begin!" He announced dramatically.
A lot of the girls that were swarmed around Tamaki started to panic and worry about what their families would think of them for drinking commoner's coffee. I noticed Haruhi roll his eyes ever so slightly. I smirked. 'I'm with you there, Haruhi-kun.'
I decided to take this chance to explore the room a bit. From what the guys called it, this was a Host Club. I'm guessing they served and like treated all the girls that came flooding in here. Each one of the guys had their own table or area with guests around it. My eyes wandered over to the twins.
The twins were pretty interesting. I couldn't really tell if what they were doing was for show, or if it was a true act. Hikaru was pulling Kaoru closer to his face, staring into his brother's eyes. Hikaru had a smirk on his face, while Kaoru looked a little flustered from the closeness.
"You were just so cute when it happened. I couldn't help myself..." Hikaru muttered out to his brother.
Kaoru blushed, "Hikaru." He whispered, continuing to stare deeply into his brother's eyes.
I admit that their scene made me blush a bit. I coughed and shook my head to clear my mind at what I was witnessing.
I nudged Haruhi, who happened to be near me. "Do you think it's an act?" I asked him.
Haruhi looked over at them, eyes widening slightly, but quickly going back to normal. "I'd assume so." He said.
I nodded and hummed to myself. As I was scanning the room, as I seemed to be doing to pass time, a loud and high-pitched voice echoed throughout the room.
"Sorry I'm late!"
I looked over at Honey-senpai, the smaller boy that was holding the bear earlier, yawn and rub at his eyes. The stoic expression one, Mori, placed Honey-senpai down. It turned out that Honey-senpai was actually one of the older one in this Host Club. At first, I really thought he was a first year, but turns out I was wrong.
As for Mori, he seemed to be really close to Honey-senpai. It was like he was the knight in shining armor protecting the princess, or prince in this case. I smiled a bit and shook my head. I can't believe I'm actually learning about some people who technically blackmailed me into being their dog.
"Ryuuki, would you come here?" Kyoya asked.
I nodded and jogged over to him. "You needed me?" I asked him.
He nodded, "Yes. Would you please attend to the guests and serve them any sort of drinks or desserts they would like when asked?" He asked me in a stern tone.
I nodded. "Whatever you want, boss." I muttered out and walked away, heading towards the kitchen to get some snacks and such.
×*×*×
"Thank you!" A girl thanked me as I handed her a cup of warm green tea.
I bowed a bit. "It's my pleasure." I mused.
She smiled and nodded at me. I smiled back and took my leave. I walked around, serving person after person with what they asked for. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was actually enjoying this more than I thought I would.
As I was enjoying my team serving the guests, I heard Tamaki scream. I raised an eyebrow and turned around, looking towards the direction of his scream.
"Kyoya, contact the hair designer!" Tamaki ordered.
Kyoya sighed and pushed his glasses up his nose. I was really curious now. Was one of the guests having a wardrobe malfunction? Or was it Tamaki who was having that problem?
"Mori, go to the eye doctor to arrange for some contact lenses!" He shouted another order.
Mori nodded and made his way out. A hair designer and some contact lenses? Either someone was having a real bad wardrobe malfunction, or I was getting the wrong idea from all of this.
Honey-senpai stood up, "What can I do?" He gleamed.
Tamaki pointed at him. "Honey-senpai, go have some cake!" He shouted.
Honey-senpai frowned and sat back down, eating his cake sadly. I sighed and chuckled a bit. For an older classmen, he sure was really childish. I decided to go look at what Tamaki was doing. I walked over to him and saw him standing in front of a curtain. I blinked.
"Tamaki, what are you doing?" I asked him.
"Sh! You shall see very soon!" He exclaimed. "Haruhi? Are you done yet?"
Haruhi moved the curtain out the way, "Senpai... Can I really keep this uniform?" He asked, walking out.
I did a double take. Haruhi was wearing the school uniform that he couldn't afford, and let me tell you he looked pretty damn good in it. I blushed and looked away.
"How do I look?" He asked us.
Tamaki stuck a pose, "Adorable!"
I glanced at Haruhi one more time and blushed harder. "You look g-good. Haruhi-kun." I blurted out.
Haruhi blushed, "Thanks, Ryuuki." He said.
Tamaki clapped and caught our attention. He quickly pointed his finger at Haruhi once more. "The errand boy has graduated! Starting today, you are an official member of the Host Club." Tamaki proclaimed. My eyes widened at this. "I will train you to be a first-rate Host! If you can get 100 customers to request you, we will forgive you 8 million yen debt!"
My eye widened even more. Would he really do that for a measly 200 customers? I grinned madly.
"You got this, Haruhi-kun!" I exclaimed, laughing in joy.
Tamaki then started to stare at me like I was fresh meat. "How would you like to join Haruhi as a new Host?" He asked.
I shook my head, "I would have to decline. I'm actually enjoying my time being a server--- er, I mean dog." I corrected myself.
He eyed me. "But wouldn't you like to help Haruhi with this debt the both of you created?" He asked me once again.
I bit my lip. 'He did that purposely. What a jerk.' I sighed and scratched the back of my neck.
"Can't I help with serving food?" I asked, hoping he'd budge.
"If you become a Host and help Haruhi gets guests, you'd cut down the amount of time it'd take by 2/3." Kyoya stated.
I clicked my tongue. "You guys really don't give me a choice here. Fine, I'll help him and become a Host as well. Happy?" I seethed out in annoyance.
Tamaki clapped, "Great! You two are now promoted. Congrats! You went from being measly dogs to honorable Hosts!" He laughed.
I sighed and slumped over in defeat. I glanced over at Haruhi and he didn't seem to really mind the fact that he would be a Host. I guess he was okay with it if it meant he would pay off the debt. I shook my head and placed my silver platter down. I can't believe this happened on my first day at this new school.
"Isn't this going to be a fun and pleasant high school life," I muttered out, smiling widely.
I wonder what this Host Club is going to hold for me in the future.
