Chapter Fifeteen

 Susanna's POV

I'm an odd mix of excited and sad, right now. Never mind that, though. Today is when Max is going to propose to Madison. It's not going to be a big fancy thing like it might be in the eyes of some, but I know that it will be one that Madison will adore. I have to admit that one of the hardest parts of this is keeping my lips zipped and not spilling the proposal beans everywhere.

Right now I'm hiding in the bookstore, behind a huge display of books, trying my best to look like just another normal customer. I'm probably not succeeding, but oh well. I hear the door bell ding, and peek around the books. Yes!! It's Madison. I talked her into letting me do her hair fancy for her this morning and she looks stunning. I have to cover my mouth to stop the giggle inside me from escaping when I see Max' s face. He's practically floored.

I smiled as I watched the bookstore owner regain his thoughts. He grinned as he hugged her, "You'll never guess what I found, Madi." He very carefully pulled out a very old book.

I heard Madison's gasp. "Oh wow, Max. Is that an original printed copy of Pride and Prejudice?" Max just answered with a nod and carefully handed the book to his girlfriend. "Wow, this is my favorite book! This is amazing." She was caressing the cover, when she noticed something sticking out. "Look, someone left a bookmark in here."

I knew the second Madison read the slip of paper. Her eyes grew wide and she was speechless. Max pulled out a DVD case which happened to be of a copy of the 2005 film version, which also happened to be signed by Keira Knightley. He opened it and held it up towards her, the ring taped in the case. "Madi, will you be my wife? You're the girl God made for me."

Madison was crying now, "Y...Yes, M...Max. I will marry you!" It was so sweet to watch the now engaged couple together and I smiled as I was putting my hiding book away. I heard light footsteps behind me and turned to find Brycie Powell.

Brycie smiled at me and in a soft voice says, "That was a sweet engagement you set up for those two." She must have read the puzzled look on my face, because she added, "Alan told me about it." I could tell she had more to say.

"What brings you here, Brycie? Getting some books for the little ones?" I asked, fiddling with my purse strap.

"No. Not today anyways. I came to find you. Alan and I have been talking about what happened. The whole misunderstanding thing. Will you come with me?" Brycie said calmly.

"Sure." I said simply. We left and at first I was wondering where we were going, until we reached a building I'd never been in. "Where are we?"

"The band is filming a music video today. You and I are going to watch. And none of the guys, but Alan will know. Inside there's a room where none of the other men know about. Managers, agents, and the like will sit in that room and they can watch whoever is in the filming room, without the ones in the filming room having any knowledge of it." Brycie smiled, and led me to the mentioned room.

We sat in silence for several minutes, waiting for Anthem Lights to show up. They came in, dressed for the video shoot. I didn't pay any attention to the crew, and my eyes were searching for Joey. He was sitting over in a chair with a fallen face, and his eyes looked so sad that I wanted to cry. I turned to Brycie to ask her why, but before I could open my mouth, Alan clapped his hands together. "Let's get this started. Here goes, Love You Like The Movies." The music started but Joey was still sitting staring at his phone. Alan turned, "Come on Joseph. You can't let this get you down."

He gave a very weak smile that didn't even begin to reach his eyes. He sang, "I still love Jesus." Then he went back to speaking, "This is almost too much to handle, man. What with the Susanna situation, and then the explosion about my cover." The usually vibrant youngest band member hung his head.

I felt my eyes grow wide at all this, "What's going on, Brycie?" She handed me some print outs from different social media sites, and comments that had been made about a solo cover Joey had done.

Joey's POV

I really wanted to be cheerful but it was hard. People were out there saying that I no longer loved Jesus. That hurt me deeply. Chad had came over to me know and he had his hand on my shoulder, his face serious. "God knows, Joe. So do all of us. We all know. If some people don't let that be their problem."

I thought of what my mom had posted on my instagram video where I snag 'I still love Jesus'. She'd called me a man of God and that she didn't doubt me for a second.

Alan and Caleb walked up next to Chad. Caleb rested his hand on my other shoulder, "Why don't we have a group prayer like we do before every concert?" We all agreed and we each prayed fir several minutes a piece. I felt God's spirit in me filling me with encouragement and peace. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

I stood, "Okay let's do this thing." We went through the routine we had for the music video. After several times of doing it and filming from different angles and making changes the director smiled, shouting out, "Perfect! You all did great!"

The crew started cleaning up and I spotted Alan over by the long mirror in the far wall, checking his hair or something. I went over to him, and in a whisper asked, "Alan. Which plan are we going to use to get Sus to forgive me? I hate having her upset with me. I blew it when I thought she had a boyfriend. I was jealous and all I could think was I wishing she was single like me so we could..."

My voice trailed off. What was with that smile and look in Alan's eyes. He grinned at me wider and leaned against the mirror. He was so up to something.

Authors Note:  y'all have probably noticed I throw in some fact and fiction, I just think it make my story more believable. Thanks for each of you lovely readers of mine out there that have been reading this book. I just want to say you are awesome and wonderful! :D Sorry for any slow updates, I have a lot going on right now. Also the video I had the boys make is  fictional... Sadly. I wish they would make a video for more of their songs, like this one for example. :) Tata for now!
