Chapter 26: The Hyena and I - 15/26

Sorry, not edited either. :(

Chapter 26

“So what do you want to do first?” Adrian asked me, a large smile forming on his beautiful face. The thought made my blush. Adrian smirked and I glared at him.

“You can choose.” I told him, looking around at the massive rollercoasters and booths. My eyes traveled to a large rollercoaster. How about no?

“That looks fun, doesn’t it?” Adrian asked, looking at a ride that spins. It was called ‘Alien Invasion.’ I furrowed my eyebrows as Adrian grabbed my hand and ran over to the lockers, placing our drink inside of it and closing it and then dragging me to the ride before I could even argue. He showed the guy our bracelets before we entered the dark, circular ride.

You stand against the wall and wait. Adrian stood next to me, smirking as terror reached my face. I’ve been on this ride before when I was younger. It’s terrifying. The ride started gaining speed and Adrian locked hands with me, smiling at me as it began going full speed.

My head was pinned back and Adrian’s laughter resounded throughout the ride. When the ride stopped, I quickly ran out of it and leaned over, reading to throw up my breakfast.

“It wasn’t that bad, right?” Adrian asked as I stood up. I couldn’t vomit. I glared at him.

“It was terrible!” I exclaimed and he smirked.

“I learned something new about you,” He spoke and I looked at him. “You have a weak stomach.” I rolled my eyes.

“Do not, now I get to pick the rides this time.” I demanded, earning a laugh from Adrian. We walked to the locker and got our drink.

After I took a large gulp, Adrian brought the straw to his mouth. He absentmindedly drank from the can as I gasped. He looked at me with raised eyebrows. He just drank from the same straw I did!

“What?” He asked, furrowing his eyebrows as he held the drink with both hands. The sleeves of his sweater pulled over his hands. He looked adorable.

“You just- that cup- I drank from the…” I stuttered and Adrian shrugged carelessly.

“What if I had some type of disease that I was too scared to tell you about?” I asked Adrian and he shrugged.

“What if I had a disease that I was too scared to tell you about?” He snorted, shaking the drink in my face.

“I’m kidding, Fiona, I don’t have some type of transmittable disease.” He laughed and I awkwardly continued walking.

“Wait,” I started to say and Adrian laughed. “You don’t have some type of transmittable disease?” I asked and he rolled his eyes.

“I don’t have any disease,” Adrian assured me and I nodded, sighing out in relief. “What? Were you worried about me, Fi-Fi?” I snorted.

“More like, I was worried about me,” I replied and he frowned. “And don’t call me Fi-Fi.” I scowled and he smiled.

“Then what should I call you?” He asked me and I shrugged.

“Not Fi-Fi, that’s for sure. Oh wait; I have an idea- what about Fiona? Like my real name!” I told him and he rolled his eyes.

“I have an idea; what about Diablo?” He asked me and I glared at him. He just offered to call me Devil in Spanish!

“No!” I snapped, pushing his shoulder. He laughed before regaining his balance.

“I’ll think of something, something special.” He told me and I looked at him for a moment before quickly turning away.

“Can we do this?” Adrian asked me, pointing to the Zipper. I bit my lip, staring up at it. I nodded as we walked to the ride.

“You can’t go on with the drink.” The lady told us and we looked at each other.

“I’m full, can you finish it?” Adrian smirked and I began drinking the drink. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Although Adrian’s mouth had touched the straw prior to my mouth; it wasn’t bad. After throwing away the drink, we both got strapped into the cage like ride.

I could see Adrian getting scared as the ride started creaking. I tried to hide my smirk by biting my lip but I must’ve looked like an idiot. Adrian went rigid when the cage flipped and he even let out a girly scream.

“Shut up, you big baby,” I told him and he glared at me. “You’re the one that wanted to go on this ride.” I informed him and he frowned.

“I didn’t know it was like this.” He said and the cage flipped again. From the impact of the sudden flip, I was pushed into Adrian who latched his arms around me and burrowed his head into my neck. I laughed and he just tightened his grip as the cage flipped again.

When the ride was over, I wished it wasn’t. It was nice having Adrian’s arms wrapped around me even though it was out of pure terror. He quickly dragged me out of that ride as I laughed at him.

“I’m so telling Trent and Logan about that.” I told him and he shook his head.

“No, you’re not.” He warned me and I laughed, rolling my eyes.

“Wait until Emilia and Jessie find out about this.” I snorted as we walked along.

“I choose the ride this time,” Adrian snapped and I shrugged carelessly. His smirk widened when he saw the largest rollercoaster in the amusement park. It was across the park and we heard the shrill screams from here. “Let’s go on that one.”

“But it’s all the way over there, how about we make our way over there while going on other rides?” I suggested and he nodded, the smirk evident on his face.

“Chose a different one.” I told him and he nodded, eyes looking around as we continued walking. He steered us towards the ‘Yo-Yo.’ It was a ride where you sat in these chairs and it swung you around at insane speeds in a circle. It’s also known as a death trap on string.

We got on the ride and Adrian’s chair was behind mine. I heard his laughter as they started up the ride and I whimpered. The ride continued and I heard people’s screams. The worst thing about this ride is that your string could snap and nobody but you gets hurt.

When the ride stopped, my belt got jammed and an attendant came to help me. I quickly jumped down, rushing over to where Adrian was laughing.

We continued going on rides until we reached the large ride. Not much people were in line, it is a school day. When we were seated, Adrian was right beside me and he laughed.

“Don’t look down.” He warned in a sing song voice. And automatically, I looked down like a completely insane being. You could see a lake that looked so large and everyone walking looked so miniscule. It made you want to immediately get off of the ride and go be a minuscule being along with the people down there.

The ride started and it was going slow as we went higher and higher. I felt my stomach drop. Why didn’t I listen to my gut and not go on the ride.

“I’ve made a big mistake.” I stated. We were in the second row and we watched as the drop sat there. The car came to a stop and I looked at Adrian. He smiled widely at me before we plummeted to our death, also known as the lower part of the track.

Instead of screaming like the rest of the girls on the ride, I closed my eyes and leaned my head onto Adrian’s shoulder. I felt the smirk rise on his face and I elbowed him in the side. He let out a groan of pain as I smirked myself.

When the ride, which felt like it had been continuing for 20 minutes, finally came to an end, I quickly jumped up. Although I had the urge to keep my head on Adrian’s shoulder, I didn’t. My face was red from embarrassment, blushing, and the cold air flying into my face at insane speeds.

Adrian’s laughter from behind me caused me to stumble slightly. Being that close to him purposely caused my stomach to flutter in weird ways. Maybe it was because I was hungry.

“Congratulations on going on the rollercoaster and surviving.” He smiled, raising his hand to give me a high five. I smacked my hand against his and instead of pulling his hand away, he let our hands sit there for a moment before he clasped his fingers around my hand. I awkwardly did the same before we dropped our hands between us.

Heat was traveling up my arm and it eventually made its way to my face. We walked in silence for a moment before I decided to break it.

“I’m hungry.” I stated and Adrian rolled his eyes.

“Of course you are.” He muttered jokingly, or at least I hope he was joking.

“What?” I asked, a frown forming on my face. That hurts; being called fat by your crush really hurts, just as much as it hurts being called ugly by your crush.

“I was joking,” He said and I felt relief pour through me like water out of a faucet. “What do you want to eat?” He asked, as we approached the food stands.

“Fried dough?” I asked him and he nodded, steering us towards the fried dough stand. It’s nearing 11 o’clock and we’ve been here for about 4 hours. We arrived at 7, even though we roughly started driving to the park at 5:45 A.M.

Getting our fried dough, we began approaching the booths where they had games set up. Adrian looked determined as we approached a ‘knock over the cups and win a prize’ booth.

“Hold this,” Adrian told me, giving me his fried dough. I smirked as I held the dough in my hands. “Don’t eat it.” He gave me a flat look and I smiled sheepishly.

The guy handed Adrian the balls (Hardy har har) and Adrian tossed one at the cups and missed, and like the supportive dat- friend that I am, I ‘cheered’ for him.

“Boo, you stink!” I called and he gave me an annoyed look. When he turned around, I took a bite of his sweet fried dough, avoiding the part where his mouth had bit into it.

Adrian threw the ball again and it hit the top cup, knocking it over.

“Loser, my grandmother can do better!” I cried out and he glared at me over his shoulder. I smiled at him innocently. When he turned back, I took two bites out of his fried dough.

He hit the last two cups with the remaining one ball before he turned to look at the guy.

“You get a medium sized bear,” The guy told Adrian and Adrian shook his head. “You could always take the medium sized bear and then pay me another dollar for 3 more balls and try and hit the cups with one ball.” Adrian nodded, giving the guy a dollar.

What does Adrian want with stuffed animals? Please don’t tell me that he has an obsession with them and he hides them in his closet? That’d be very creepy.

Taking a few more bites out of Adrian’s food, I watched as he aimed at the cups and easily hit them directly in the middle, knocking them all down. The guy nodded his head towards the big stuffed animals and then towards the medium.

“Take one of each.” He said, chewing on his gum as he tapped away on his phone. Adrian looked at me as I slowly tried to hide his food. He didn’t notice as he took both plates in his hand and nodded towards the stuffed animals.

“What?” I asked, staring at my pizza fried dough. Why is he taking away my happiness?

“Get the stuffed animals.” He told me with a smirk. I was confused for a minute before I realized what he was saying. I felt my face get warmer as I awkwardly walked over to the stand and picked out a large tiger.

“What animal does Mattie like?” I asked him and he shrugged.

“He likes penguins.” Adrian replied and I grabbed a medium sized penguin. I held them in my hands before reaching for my pizza. Adrian furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at his sweet fried dough.

“Hey,” He called as I quickly started walking towards the tables to put the stuffed animals down and to avoid him. “You ate my fried dough.” He frowned and I shrugged, looking around.

“It wasn’t me!” I replied, shaking my head and he smirked, picking up my pizza.

“It’s only fair.” He called when I dropped the stuffed animals onto the table. I began reaching for the dough as he bit into my fried dough. I frowned, reaching for it again.

“Hey! I only took 7 bites; your bites are the size of a gorilla’s!” I called out, placing a hand on my hip. He shrugged, chewing the rest of the bite of pizza. I elbowed him in the rib as he smiled at me.

I finished the rest of my pizza fried dough and half of his sweet fried dough before he shoved me aside and finished his fried dough. I laughed and grabbed the stuffed animals.

At 11:45 we decided to start driving back to our town, hoping to arrive at 1 P.M. I turned to look at him for a minute.

“Thank you for that. I had a lot of fun.” I told Adrian and he smirked, shaking his head.

“We’re not done yet.” He told me and I gave him a confused look.

“Figuring we’d get back at 1, we’d have 2 hours to kill. We can’t just sit in my car. What do you want to do?” He asked me, smiling at me. I shrugged my shoulders.

“What do you want to do?” I asked him and he shrugged, looking in the rear view mirror at the stuffed animals.

“Have you ever been to the zoo?” He asked me and I shook my head.

“Have you?” I asked him and he shook his head.

“Well then, let’s go to the zoo.” He told me and I nodded.

“I’m paying this time.” I told him and he shook his head.

“I took you on the date, I should pay,” Adrian confirmed and before I could even argue, he cut me off. “Besides, I want to pay. I offered to take you out. Well, I demanded to take you out. Now, I want to pay.” He said and I huffed out a breath.

“You already paid for my ticket to the amusement park,” I told him and he shrugged. “No, I’ll pay.” I told him and he glared at me.

“I’m paying,” He stated and I glared at him. “Tell you what, I’ll allow you to take me to dinner. You can pay for that.” He said and I rolled my eyes.

__

“Let’s go.” Adrian stated, opening the door for me. I got out of the car, walking towards the entrance.

“Aren’t you two supposed to be in school?” The admissions lady asked. She looked like she was around my mother’s age. Instead of Adrian making some slick comment, he actually smiled at the lady.

“She’s actually suspended and we’re avoiding her parents.” Adrian admitted, taking money out of his wallet and paying the lady.

“Why are you avoiding her parents, I thought she was suspended?” The lady asked with an amused expression as she dug around the back for a bracelet. I’d have to cut these off before I get home.

“Because I decided to skip school and hang out with her.” Adrian excused, tying the bracelet around my wrist as I felt my face warm up. This would be the 100th time today?

“Awe, isn’t that sweet? Well, have a nice day at the zoo.” She said, waving at us as we entered the gates to the zoo. Children were everywhere. Children and parents walked around, watching the animals.

“Let’s go to the petting zoo.” Adrian spoke, smiling widely as I furrowed my eyebrows.

“This isn’t a petting zoo.” I warned him and he smirked, shrugging slightly.

“Any zoo is a petting zoo if you aren’t scared,” I snorted at that. Yeah, have fun getting attacked by a bear. “Anyway, what animal do you want to see first?” He asked me and I shrugged.

“How about the bears?” I asked and he nodded, looked for a sign that gave us instructions around the zoo.

“To the bears!” Adrian cried out, grabbing my hand and running towards the bear exhibit. I almost crashed into several little kids and I received several deadly looks from mothers who quickly yanked their child out of my vicinity

“Isn’t it beautiful?” Adrian asked me as we stood in front of the bears. I nodded.

“They’re gorgeous.” I said and Adrian gave me a confused look.

“No, I’m talking about me.” He said, smirking. I gave him a flat look.

“No need to be so arrogant, Adrian.” I told him and he laughed.

“Puh-lease, I’m giving you an opportunity to stare at me.” He said with a wave of his hand. He placed his hand on his hip after he snapped.

“The bears don’t like your sass.” I told him, watching as the bear stood up on their hind legs and outstretched their arms.

“They just want a piece of this-.” Adrian started to say but I cut him off.

“Children, Adrian, they’re everywhere.” I told him and he smirked.

“I was in a rhyming mood, c’mon, let’s go get to see the tigers.” He told me, dragging me in the opposite direction of the way we came last time.

When we arrived at the tiger exhibit, we realized that they were sleeping. Adrian didn’t like this.

“Stupid animals, we walked all the way over here to see them. They better wake up!” Adrian quickly stated and I looked at him, experiencing déjà vu.

“This is the episode of SpongeBob all over again.” I whispered and Adrian let out a bark of laughter.

“You mean the episode with the oyster, when they threw a peanut at him?” He asked and I nodded.

“Wait, how do you know about that?” I asked, raising an eyebrow. He shrugged.

“I have Mattie. What’s your excuse?” He asked, smirking as I stuttered. I decided to just shrug.

“They’re obviously not waking up anytime soon, let’s go see the apes,” I exclaimed and he shook his head, a pained expression taking place on his face. That rhymed! “Why not?”

“Apes don’t like me,” He bit his lip. I furrowed my eyebrows. “When I was 12, my mother, Mattie and I came to this zoo. Mattie, being the hyperactive 2 year old that he was, begged to see the monkeys. I wanted to see the tigers. But no, Mattie got his way and we ended up going to see the monkeys. They didn’t tell us that the monkeys just ate and what do you know? A monkey crapped in his hand and flung it at me!” He exclaimed.

I busted into laughter, hunching over and holding my stomach. Adrian was continuing on with the story, or at least giving me little details.

“It was still warm! It detached in the air and hit me in the face and all over my body! IT WAS STILL WARM,” He nearly sobbed. I rolled my eyes, hitting his shoulder as I slowly stopped laughing. “It was still warm.” He whispered.

After losing whatever appetite I’d had completely after hearing that heartwarming story, Adrian and I decided to see the hyenas. I’d noticed that Adrian liked commenting on the animals cruelly.

“Look at that hyena; it’s just like you.” He snorted, pointing at the smallest hyena in the exhibit. It was in the corner, being antisocial and sleeping. I frowned, poor hyena.

“You’re mean.” I snapped at Adrian and he gave me an award winning smile. I just rolled my eyes as he continued dragging me from exhibit to exhibit.

Eventually, we had to leave because school was ending in 30 minutes and we still had to make it back to our houses. I was also planning on forcing him to stop at a drive thru to get us some food. Of course, I’d pay.

When we arrived at our houses, he pulled into his driveway and I turned to him with a smile on my face.

“Thanks, I had a really fun time today.” I told him and he nodded.

“Of course you did, you were with me,” He snorted and I rolled my eyes at his arrogance. “I’m joking… I had a nice time today, too.” He said and I nodded my head.

“I’m going to go before this turns into a loop, thanks again, Monkey Dung. Hey, that could be your user-name for any websites you sign up too!” I told him and he glared at me before letting out a laugh.

I went inside and put my stuffed animal on my bed before I searched for my For now Bucket List. I'm sure I completed some things today.

Bucket List
1. Go on a real first date (with someone I actually like) for a picnic, I like picnics. EDITED: Where they ask me first.
2. Get kicked out of a store, one I don’t go to because they might ban me and I can’t have that. (Adrian)
3. Skip school for a day and go out, not stay home. (With Adrian... Suspension counts.)
4. Go on a rollercoaster at an amusement park, one that my instinct says ‘No’ to. (With Adrian.)
5. Dye my hair a crazy color, for example; dying the tips red or blue. Or maybe even a streak. (Or two.) (With Jessie.)
6. Dance in the rain with someone, hopefully a guy… who has abs, and happens to be shirtless but I’ll settle for Jessie if I have to.
7. Go to a drive in movie. I think this is pretty self-explanatory.
8. Throw a drink in someone’s face because they’re a jerk. (Ethan)
9. Pull an all-nighter and watch the sun rise on the roof, it seems fun. (Adrian)
10. Carve my name into a tree and hopefully it’ll stay there.
11. Go laser tagging, it seems amazing; lasers and tag.
12. Have a paint fight… an accidental one.
13. Go through a drive through on foot, it’ll tick off the worker and it’ll be fun! (Adrian)
14. Have a nerf gun fight, if I can get my hands on some.
15. Jump into a pool with all of my clothes on, or maybe get pushed. Ha, kidding. (Adrian)

17. Have a shopping cart race at Wal-Mart or any other large department store. (Adrian, Jessie, Trent)
18. Go swimming at Midnight, it sounds adventurous and dangerous. (Emilia, Trent, Logan, Jessie, Adrian)
19. Buy white Converse and have people sign them, hopefully there isn’t anything bad on it, though. I may want to wear them to school.
20. Go to the Zoo, I’ve never been there and I really want to go. (With Adrian.)
21. Take pictures in a photo booth with either a guy that I like or a friend, it seems fun. (Adrian)
22. Play Hide N Seek in a store. If you get caught by a store clerk, pull a Velma. ‘My glasses, I can’t see without my glasses.’
23. Have a scary movie marathon. (Adrian, Jessie, Trent)
24. Have boys vs. girl’s water balloon fight… probably won’t happen. But one can dream, right?
25. Have someone win me a giant stuffed animal. And again, one can dream, right? (With Adrian.)
26. Get a boyfriend… and I repeat, one can dream!

While I was filling out my For Now Bucket list, I heard a knock on my door. Most likely, it’s Jessie. But then again, when does she ever knock?

“Come in.” I nervously said. Surprisingly, it wasn’t Jessie. It was my mother.

“We need to talk.” She informed me, her voice unreadable. I audibly gulped, nodding my head. What did I do this time?

PLEASE READ.__x__x__PLEASE READ. (MAYBE A CONTEST?)
A/N:
Okay, I have a few things to ask of you guys! :D
-What can Fiona's nickname from Adrian be? Something cute, not a pet name!
-What does her mother want to talk about? Did she find out about the suspension and detentions? Is she sick of her daughter so she's sending her off to military school? Will they fight to the death for the lovely Adrian? I'm joking about that last one. :)

ANYWHO... As some of you may have heard/seen, I'm looking for a new cover for this story! I have 2 people who said they could make me one. If I have a third, then this could be a contest!!! You will get a dedication and I'll say something about you in the Authors note! :D

It can be any color but please, can it be professional? Also, can it be related to the story? We don't want an old grandmother to be on the cover! :) Okay , then.
