Dead. That's what I was. I thought.

I woke up, looking over at the doctor. He looked down at me.

"Ah. Miss Raiyne. You're awake." I stared at him blankly.

"So I'm not dead?" I asked. His eyebrows furrowed.

"No. No, you're not dead," he said. I looked around for my bag.

"I'm Dr. Smith," the doctor said. I nodded.

"You lost a lot of blood. By a lot, I mean, enough that you should've died. But you didn't. You're a lucky woman."

"Okay," I said, my eyes finding my bag. There was a woman holding the strap. She looked up at me.

"You have a broken arm, and were wounded by a knife on your other limbs. You were also stabbed in the abdomen, but the knife missed all major arteries, veins, and organs. Your left lung was breached, but we managed to fix the damage, so you won't be needing an artificial lung. You will be bed-ridden for a while, though. Just until your ankle and knee heal. Then we'll let you go." I sighed. I'd left my charger at home, and I was going to be here for a while. Dr. Smith left, and I looked back at the woman. She brought me my bag.

"Here. You might want this," she said. I smiled.

"Thanks. What's your name?" I asked. She looked up at me in surprise.

"Uh...It's Whisper," she said.

"That's a nice name. Mine's Raiyne." She nodded.

"I knew that," she said.

"True," I muttered. She smiled. I pulled out my computer, starting it up. I pulled up my Google Drive, opening my story. I settled the laptop on my stomach, then inhaled sharply, moving the computer. Whisper gave a short bark of laughter.

"Y'know, he lied when he said you didn't die. You were pronounced dead upon arrival. Then you came back. It shocked everyone working on you," Whisper told me. I looked at her, closing my laptop again.

"I...was dead?" I asked, getting a nod from Whisper.

"Yeah. Dead and covered in blood. They sent you to the morgue, but that's when you came back. Trust me, you would want to be alive rather than dead. Especially someone as pretty as you. Not to mention as tough."
