End of the shift

"I knew I didn't imagine it last night!", Jack yelled on top of his lungs. But the relief of not going crazy soon disappeared, when he realised what this really meant.

"Fuck. I was right."

They were in a life threatening situation. The animatronics were actually going to kill them.
"Why the fuck would anyone actually build fucking killer robots?!" His state of rage and shock got interrupted by a yelp of fear and the sound of metal crashing hardly to the ground.

Jack turned around in panic only to see Mark standing at the door, one hand clenched to a fist and panting heavily.
He was shaking like crazy, eyes wide in shock and fear, staring at the button to close the metal door he just slammed.

Jack knew what that meant.

Bonnie was here.

He quickly turned to the monitor and checked the cameras. Now was no time for panic. If they do, they're dead.

So the minutes went by like hours and both of them looked every five seconds if they could finally go.

"Right door!"

Slam.

Silence.

"Okay."

Open.

Silence.

And it went on and on like this. It didn't happen to often that an animatronic showed up.
Actually, in the last two hours of their shift, Bonnie only went to them three times and Chica one time. But for the victims it felt like they showed up three times per minute and the fear was always with them. But still they somehow managed to survive their second night and when the bell rang and all animatronics went back to their places on the stage, the two men ran to the exit as if their life depended on it and to them, it did.

They didn't stop outside. The two of them ran until their feet couldn't carry  them anymore and the friends sat down on the ground, exhausted, as the adrenaline left their bodies.

The men took deep breaths and looked at each other as if to show that they were alright and to see if the other one was too.

A laugh.

Jack started laughing in order to release the stress and fear inside of him and tears started streaming down his cheeks. Marks first reflex was to hug his best friend in order to calm him down, but it only took a few seconds for him to join in.

So here they were.
Just survived actual killer robots.
Laughing and crying on a sidewalk, hugging each other for dear life.
The passing civilians looked at the two of them as if they were crazy and after what just happened, the two friends didn't know if they could deny it. But they enjoyed every second of this moment of relief.
