Chapter Three
The speaker in Aurora's room came to life once more. "Just thought we should inform you that your friend didn't talk either so we are pushing on him. We've cut off all ties to most of his senses and the air is slowly being drained from the room. I'd say you have about 3 minutes give or take to talk or he'll start suffering from more than unconsciousness." They told her firmly.
Three minutes. She had three minutes to either hold her own or speak. She knew that Peter's senses were probably going haywire trying to find anything to latch onto. She knew hers were just a few minutes ago. "Sorry, we ride or die with each other. You probably wouldn't know what that means though."
There was silence for a moment before they asked another question, "What if we pressed on her instead? Since you're both so willing to suffer for her, would you talk if she was the one in danger?"
Aurora bit the inside of her cheek. These guys really were starting to get on her nerves. "What do you even want out of us anyway? We're her friends, and that's all you need to know."
"We want to know everything you know about her." They replied. "Give us that truthfully, and we'll let you go."
"Man you guys really can't take a hint can you? I'm not leaving without BOTH of my friends. Copy that?" Aurora was beginning to lose her temper with these buffoons.
"Then talk and convince them to talk and then your little group can go free." They replied. "Two minutes by the way. He's surprisingly still barely awake."
"Yeah we do breathing exercises as a game back home." She rolled her eyes. "You really think I'm dumb enough to believe you? You've given me no reason to. You've kidnapped and split up me and my friends, and you want dirt on one of them while suffocating the other."
"We know what we are asking for already. We just need to be sure you don't. We'd prove we already know but... then you'd know and we can't be having that."
"Sounds like quite the paradox." Aurora muttered. "I'm only going to say this once. Kasey's secrets are our secrets. And I'm obligated to keep them."
There's silence for a moment before a sigh through the speakers. "One minute to answer. Has she shown or told you anything about being enhanced?"
"That's kind of a creepy thing to ask about a teenage girl." She grinned. "But I think that Kasey is all natural, if you know what I mean."
There's a deep sigh through the speaker. "Alright, swap them." Before she could ask about what that meant, the speaker shut off and just like Peter, everything seemed to vanish. No sound, no light, no smells or taste. Only the ground. If that even was the ground...
Peter's room however suddenly regained air at a rather rapid rate compared to it being dragged out.
Before Aurora could even manage a laugh, she was once again sucked into panic. She tried to console herself this time, not wanting them to see her being weak.
Peter gasped for air, his head pounding from the lack of oxygen. "What took you guys so long? I was beginning to miss our little chats."
"Your friend was being uncooperative so we decided to see if you'd give a clearer answer than her. As we told her, you have about 3 minutes give or take before she starts taking more severe damage." They told him. "If neither of you give us straight, truthful answers then you best hope that she will. Understand?"
"I understand, but that doesn't mean I'll cooperate any better." Peter told them. This whole dance they were doing was getting pretty old. "You guys really suck at interrogations."
A dark chuckle echoed in the room. "We were trying not to cause either of you serious harm."
Aurora suddenly was able to hear something. A crackling sound. It came from all around her.
"Last chance to cooperate or your friend gets punished." They tried. "And we won't be giving anymore chances."
Aurora's hair stood on edge, and she could almost feel the static change in the air. Whatever happened next, she just knew it wasn't going to be fun.
Peter scowled, even if that voice couldn't see him. He had to force himself to remember that they went through a lot during patrols, so he had to believe she could handle it. "No."
They gave no response but instead, he heard something different. A crackling sound through the speakers.
Suddenly Aurora felt electricity hit her from multiple angles. It was a low powered amount but enough to hurt.
Aurora shook, the electricity invading her skin. She clenched her jaw and shrunk down to her knees, resisting the urge to make any sound.
Peter flinched, digging his nails into his arm as he waited for the sound to stop. He couldn't stand the thought of the girls getting hurt.
The current slowly grew in power as they watched them both closely, waiting for one or the other to break.
Aurora gritted her teeth further, and squeezed her eyes shut. Her body felt hot, as the electricity racked through her. She knew they were doing this to dig at Peter, she just hoped they could wait it out.
Peter struggled internally, the crackling from the speaker setting him on edge. His mind was a maze of thoughts, as he couldn't decide what to do.
They just kept raising it up, keeping it under the safe limits but were starting to push up against those.
They didn't speak, just let him listen.
Aurora had at least a little tolerance for electricity, but whatever they were doing now was scrambling her mind. A cry escaped her lips as they upped the current.
Peter was torn between the two. He either could save one friend or the other, and he didn't want to choose. "Stop it!"
"Then answer truthfully." They replied. "Has she told you where she's from?" Was the first question. The noise still filtered through the speaker.
Peter shook his head, running a hand over his hair nervously. "No- No! She hasn't told us anything!"
He heard the crackling slow down to a stop on the other end. "See? Isn't that easier?" They asked. "How long have you known her?"
Peter breathed out slowly, pinching the bridge of his nose. He hated this. "I don't know.... Four months, I think?" He would give them the bare minimum.
"Has she shown or told you anything about having unnatural abilities?" Well. That was a topic change and a half-
"Unnatural abilities? You mean like, what, Captain America?" Peter forced out a chuckle. "I don't think Kasey's a super soldier or anything."
"Something like that. What about her blindness? Did she tell you how that happened?"
"No. I've never really asked. Seems kind of inconsiderate to." He shrugged. "Figured she was born with it."
"Alright. Are you still sticking with meeting her playing DDR?"
"Yep. Absolutely." He nodded curtly.
There was silence for a moment before the speaker turned back on. "That will be all for now." And off the speaker went again.
Aurora's sparked to life once more. "Are you willing to talk now? Your friend already gave in. We can always try the same tactic." They told her. "Or we can take what we have and go to her to compare the notes."
Peter groaned and pressed the palms of his hands against his eyes. This really sucked. Not to mention, Mr. Stark was probably wondering where they were by now..
Aurora was still trying to catch her breath from the attack. She was going to be aching for a while now. "Sorry but I have nothing to say to you. Especially after shocking me."
"Very well." The speaker turned off.
The man stood and picked up the notes and headed off to where they were keeping Kasey. It was rather heavily guarded since they weren't sure if it had even worked on her or not. He was about half way down the hall when the door suddenly burst off its hinges, a huge dent in it as it slammed against the other wall.
It took two of the guards down with it. They all quickly moved to action as Kasey stepped out of the room. She turned her head towards them when they yelled at her to stop. He watched a grin slide across her face as she replied, "Make me."
He watched them fire at her only for her to duck and weave in a way no blind person should be able to and take down two more of the guards and go for another. She had to dodge away from them when they tried to bash her with the end of the gun and she leapt up with a backflip and landed and stuck to the ceiling.
There was a silence that fell across the hall as they stared at her, one that was broken rather quickly when she suddenly snagged hold of one of the guards, lifting him off the ground and closer to the ceiling. "Tell me where my friends are or I'll inject my poison into him." She told them.
They glanced at each other, unsure. "She has poison??" was whispered and shrugs were made around the hall.
Kasey sighed. "Alright. You got until I count to three, One,"
The guy in grip started to panic as she got close to his neck. "Two,"
They watched her open her mouth and they realized she was gonna bite his throat and regardless of a bluff about poison or not, that could still severely injure them. "Okay!" The man with the notes called out. "We get it. We'll take you to them."
He felt Kasey's gaze lock onto him despite the blindness. "Then I hang onto him if you insist on more than just you." She replied, still staying on the ceiling which was out of reach.
He sighed. "Very well. Just don't hurt him and we'll take you."
She nodded and stood on the ceiling scooping the man into a strange upside down bridal carry and followed them.
Aurora heard the loud thud and got up on her feet. Her chest still hurt from the shocks, but it swelled with hope. Maybe someone broke into wherever they were.
