Chapter seven
Once they were all outside, Karen blinked at the black car ahead of them. "That him?" She asked, cautiously.
Aurora relaxed, knowing Kasey was right there to somewhat guide them. "Black car, tinted windows, little ritzy? Yeah that's him." She had assumed from Karen's tone that Tony had taken the most suspicious looking car he owned. For whatever reason, she couldn't tell.
Karen was about to ask when the window rolled down and Happy was looking at them. "There you are! Do you know how many speed-" He stopped when he spotted Karen and cleared his throat. "How many speed limits I followed to a t?"
Kasey snorted at that. "I'm sure there were many limits you followed perfectly, Happy."
"Damn right I did!" He retorted back at her. "Unlike you three who went no contact when you have a rule saying not to do that!"
They heard another person in the back say something but they couldn't quite catch it.
"Your dad says to get in the car so he can say thanks to the nice lady." Happy told them.
Aurora turned in the direction of Karen, grinning from ear to ear. "I really can't thank you enough for helping us out Karen. It really means a lot. Thank you." She felt around for the door handle, and slipped into the car once she managed to open the door.
Peter followed after, basically melting into the car seat once he sat down. He held the computer tower in his lap. "We really didn't mean to go no contact like that, Sorry Happy. But we have got to talk when we get back."
Kasey nodded as she also climbed in, Karen holding the door for her and shut it when given the all clear. She came to the open window. "It was no problem. If you ever find yourselves back over here, you got the card so you know where to find me." She told them.
She was surprised when she saw the other person in the back, their "dad" she assumed, turn to look at her, tilting his shades down to meet her gaze. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized him.
"Really though, thanks for keeping the kids safe. I was about to tear New York apart looking for them." He smirked but she saw the genuine gratitude in his eyes. He held a card out towards her and she snapped out of her shock and accepted it. "In case you ever need something on our side of the city." He told her.
She nodded and put it in her purse. "Thank you."
He nodded back at her. "You should probably get going before those coffees become iced coffees." He joked which made her realize that they probably already were.
"Oh! Right, um. I'm glad you guys are all safe now! Hopefully next time we meet will be in better circumstances." She laughed.
"Thank you again Ms. Page!" Peter waved towards the open window, finding her reaction pretty amusing, even if he could only hear it. Although he had no room to talk. He lowered his voice and turned in the direction of Tony. "Mr. Stark, I know we up and disappeared, and we really didn't mean to, but we were headed back to the tower and-"
"We kinda got kidnapped." Aurora finished for Peter, keeping her voice low as well.
Kasey had waved as they pulled away and Karen headed off. Happy rolled the window back up so they could talk without worry.
Tony pulled his shades off and leaned forward. "You... you what? Who?! Do you know? Did they find out anything-"
Kasey placed a hand on Tony's knee, getting his attention. "They were after me." She explained.
He stared at her as he processed before leaning back. "The ones that you escaped from, wasn't it?"
She gave a small nod. "They don't know about Peter and Aurora. At least I'm pretty sure..."
Tony ran a hand through his hair. "Did they do anything to you three? Anything you might be aware of or not?"
"We didn't tell them any sensitive information, whether it was about us or Kasey." Peter explained. He stiffened a bit when Tony asked if the people did anything. If he knew Mr. Stark, he knew he'd be absolutely furious. "Well, when they grabbed us, they sprayed something in my face to knock me out, and I think it got in my eyes, because I can't, really... see."
Aurora nodded alongside Peter. "Same here, it was some sort of mist, felt cool to the skin and worked fast. Oh, and I may or may not have girlbossed a little too close to the sun when they were interrogating me, and got electrocuted."
Tony just stared at them both for a long moment. "...You're telling me you're both blind? Like, completely?" He questioned. "And we'll talk about you in a moment," He directed it at Aurora, pointing at her since he wasn't used to them being blind.
Kasey leaned toward her and whispered. "He pointed at you."
Aurora perked up after Kasey informed her. "Hm? Oh. Uh, great. Alright."
Peter nodded swiftly. "Yeah, uh, it's a little freaky not being able to see and all, but Kasey really helped us through a lot of it. I didn't even know at first, I just thought the room they had me in was really dark, and there was also, like, a multidirectional treadmill? And I'm.. going to stop talking now."
Tony had his face in his hands at this point and gave a deep sigh. "So... I take it you stole a computer?" He asked, looking at the Tower sitting next to Peter. "From whoever the hell these people are?"
Kasey nodded. "More than just that. It'd be best to show you it all at the tower though."
Tony now looked a bit interested. Maybe something they snagged could give him a name to chase down.
"Mhm." Peter nodded, pretty proud of the group. Yeah, they had found themselves in a bunch of trouble without meaning to, but they also managed to get out of it without dying, and with evidence from the people that kidnapped them.
Tony chuckled. "Gotta say I'm pretty impressed. Still angry with the situation, but impressed."
Kasey smiled a little bit but the thought of this happening again or them targeting Peter and Aurora now... she frowned and wrapped her arms around her waist, startling when she felt the folders move.
She started to take them but decided to wait till they got to the tower.
"I'll take it." Aurora shrugged with a smirk. She always liked to impress people, whether she meant to or not. Just a little ego boost once in a while was nice to have.
"Hey, um. I got this card from Ms. Page." Peter pulled out the business card and held it out for Tony to take. "I was hoping we could send some sort of thank you gift later."
Tony took it and gave it a look over. Nelson and Murdock Attorneys at law, huh? Interesting. He tucked it in his shirt pocket. "After everything she did for you three, absolutely." He agreed.
Happy rolled the divider down. "We are pulling in now." He told them.
Peter let out a relieved sigh and grinned. "Great! And sorry again, if we worried you guys. They took our phones and everything, and we couldn't exactly just bust out without giving ourselves away."
"Then how did you break out?" Tony asked them curiously. "If you didn't out yourselves then how?" He chose to ignore the phone comment. He could handle that front easily.
Kasey's heart rate picked up a little bit as she chose to let them answer.
"Well..." Peter didn't exactly know how to put it, cause he didn't want to get Kasey in trouble or anything.
"Since they already knew about Kasey, she busted us out. Really, you should've seen her, even if we couldn't." Aurora forced herself not to snicker at her own joke. "She really was amazing at getting us out of there and getting us somewhere safe."
Tony looked at Kasey who flinched a bit under his gaze. He obviously noticed it but didn't say anything as they parked.
"How did you manage a whole rescue mission?" He asked her.
She instead decided that the car had finished being parked and swiftly opened and left the car, heading to the elevator before anyone could stop her. Nope! Not going into that! It's not important-
"Kasey!" Tony called after her but she was gone already. He turned to the two of them. "Any clue what that was about?"
Peter and Aurora shook their heads in unison, before Peter spoke up again. "I don't know why she ran off like that, but... Earlier, when we were in that building, there was some sort of lab room? I think? And something set her off, she was hyperventilating and freaking out pretty bad.."
That had Tony frowning deeply. "PTSD episode? The room might have triggered some unwelcome memories if it reminded her of the one she had been to before..." He sighed.
"Doesn't explain why she bolted but..." He shook his head and stepped out of the car and helped them both out. Happy carried the computer for them.
"Let's just get inside and take a look at you both and see if we can fix your vision."
"That would be greatly appreciated." Aurora commented, stepping out of the car. She made sure to stick right by Tony, not really wanting to navigate his garage and maze of cars to get to the elevator on her own.
He put his hands on their shoulders and guided them to the elevator which Kasey had already taken up but sent back down for them.
