Chapter 90
It had been a good amount of time before she regained full mobility. At this time she had gotten up, messing with the new clamp on her ankle.
It was tightly locked on and refused to budge despite her strength.
"Freaking fantastic." So instead of that, she went to where it was connected on the other end, trying to dislodge it from there.
The chain rattled but didn't budge.
"Fine, be that way." She moved to the middle of the chain, attempting to pull it apart from there.
It took a bit of effort but the chain finally snapped, leaving half of it on the ground and the other half around her ankle.
"Nice." She tested the weight on her ankle, before going over to where she had seen the man from before leave. She shifted her hand along the wall, trying to find an opening.
As she slid her hand along the wall, she noticed the wall had panels but one panels crevices seemed deeper than the others.
Aurora ran her hand along the crevice, pulling back her hand and slamming her fist into the panel.
The panel jostled at the slam but didn't open or bend.
"You've got to be kidding me." She took a couple steps back, using the foot with the chain to kick at the panel. Hopefully the extra weight would help.
A dent was made this time as it shook. A few more solid hits should probably break it down.
Well, she made it this far, might as well go the rest of the way. She lined herself up and sent another kick its way.
This time, the panel broke off its hinges and slid across the floor, outside of the room.
Aurora waited a couple seconds before peeking her head out of the door. She took off, following the path as closely as she could. If possible, she wanted to dispose of any blood vials. But her main mission was finding Tony and busting them outta there.
As she took her first turn, she came across two different paths. One to her left and one to her right but both seemed to have her turn a corner.
After a moment of contemplation she turned left, following her gut. She tried to identify any distinctive markings.
And as soon as she turned the corner she was met with seeing a dead end a few feet ahead of her.
"Guess not." She turned around, going back to the last intersection. She took the second option, heading down that hallway.
She walked down the hall, took the only turn to her left and saw another dead end in front of her but a path to take to her immediate left.
She just kept following the path, avoiding the small little dead ends until she came across two hallways.
One ahead of her with three different choices, or to her right with two possible choices, a turn at the end of the hall or one that would be on her left about half way down.
Aurora paused looking between the options in confusion. This wasn't right, where was everyone? Not to mention, she didn't remember this place being that maze-like.
She took the first option, deciding to check out the three different choices.
The first one on her left didn't go far and ended up curling in on itself.
The second one on her right did the same and the third?
It didn't even try to go anywhere. It just stopped.
"Oh you've got to be kidding me!" Aura exclaimed in frustration. She turned around and picked up her pace, taking the second option from before. If she didn't find anything, it was very likely she'd start breaking things.
A dead end to her right that was very obvious, a dead end on her left that curled on itself, and IT'S A MIRACLE!
An actual turn!
She could go all the way down and turn to the right or check the three other openings.
Aurora decided on checking the three openings, figuring she might as well as she worked her way down the new hallway.
Left, dead end. Right, dead end. Left? Dead end.
Turning to her right she was faced with another hallway. Three openings on the right wall and one on the left.
Aurora let out a sound of frustration, slamming her fist into the wall before continuing on. She'd check the one opening first, and if it didn't amount to anything she'd check the rest.
It curled in on itself and the one across from it was just a dead end.
That left the two at the end.
The third one seemed to have another turn.
But there was still the one at the end to check.
Aurora looked between the two, before passing the third to check the one at the end.
Andddd- It was a dead end.
Aurora left another dent in the wall before turning into the third hallway.
She turned through the hallway as she followed the path. Left. Left. Left. Right.
At the end of the hall she was met with two options. Left or right.
Aurora stopped, looking over both ways. She decided not to go the way she had chosen first, and turned right.
She followed the long twisty hallway, no other turns available to take and after about seven minutes of walking later, she made another right turn and-
A dead end.
"Oh you've got to be shitting me!!" She shouted, kicking the chain against the wall and she turned around and headed back.
Taking that left turn instead she took a few more turns.
Left. Right. Right. Right. Left. Left. Right.
And she had three choices. Two left and one right at the end of the hall.
Aurora chose right. All of this was beginning to make her weary.
A small dead end. Now she could either choose the path closest to her now or the one by where she started in this hallway.
"I'll break through this maze like I broke your damn ring!" Aurora called out, hoping those pretentious douchebags were listening. She took the path closest to her.
And she was met with another choice. Left or right?
Left looked like it might be a longer path but she couldn't tell if the other would be.
She'd be damned if she was going to keep walking this maze forever. She had to get to Tony and get back to Kasey. Not to mention her arm was killing her, and she had no idea where her mask was. She took the right.
And as she turned that corner, she saw three openings. All on her right and right next to each other.
She took the middle path, rolling her sleeves up onto her forearms. She was careful with her wounded arm. If it wasn't set right... she needed to have it set back before it healed.
Left. Right. Left.
Two options. Both seemed to have tunnels to take.
Straight or left?
She stood before the options and grumbled. "Straight it is."
About five minutes of walking she finally took the seventeenth turn and- Are you kidding right now?
Another dead ass end.
She broke into a sprint, running back to the first entrance.
Eleven turns later- She has two options!
Left turn or right turn at the end of the hall?
Aurora eyed both options and went right.
[insert chest opening music from legend of zelda here]
You found a-... a dead end. Yay....
Aurora turned, pressing her forehead against one of the walls. She smashed her fist against the wall, before turning around to head back.
Back to the other tunnel choice she went! And 13 turns later-
Another damned dead end.
She let out an aggravated scream, going back to the last intersection she remembered she hadn't explored a few directions from.
She found herself back at the three options. She came out of the middle. So, facing the three, left or right?
She cursed and went right.
And three turns later-
The exit!! She finally made it out!!
A large round room greeted her with no apparent exits.
Aurora let out a weary sigh, entering the large room. She half wondered if she died and was now in hell.
"Well, well. You made it out. I was starting to think you never would." the speakers spoke up from around her.
"Oh, would you shut. Up!!" Aurora snapped, looking up for any kind of camera or speakers. "I'm sick of your twisted little games! I'm getting out of here, and when I do-" She sneered. "You're going to wish you killed me while you had the chance."
"Oh, that can still be arranged, Periwinkle." The knife man's voice replied.
A wall slid shut, sealing Aurora in the round room.
"I'll cut your tongue out with your own blades, dickhead." She responded, mocking his tone with that last little insult of hers.
She suddenly felt a blade graze her arm, cutting through her shirt sleeve.
"Sure, kid. You have to find me first."
She hissed in pain and picked up the blade that grazed her, webbing it to her side for later use. She took to the ceiling, scouring the ceiling for any differences.
"You're not gonna find anything up there that you can use, Periwinkle." The man told her.
"We made this room to keep our subjects contained." He explained.
The ceiling felt a little slippery but she managed to stay attached as she crawled around.
Sounded like a diversion to her. "We'll see about that, shitface." Every time he called her that, she'd respond with another insult. As she went along the ceiling, she would smash her fist into different spots, trying to find any weak points.
Nothing would give but another graze on her arm greeted her instead, the blade not sticking into the ceiling but clattering off and to the floor.
"Ooh-" She tried to ignore the new cut and continued along the ceiling, smashing her fist against it. "Someone doesn't want me up here?"
Still. Nothing gave way.
"You aren't going to find anything." He repeated. "You're wasting your time."
"Sounds to me like you really don't want me up here." She sneered. She'd try again, this time hitting spots that looked even the tiniest bit different.
Again. Nothing.
"Okay, fine. Waste your energy crawling around us there. Guess I'll just wait till you're done to play with you." He sounded annoyed.
Aurora smirked. She may not have been finding anything so far, but that little twinge of annoyance in his voice made her giddy. So for now, she'd continue.
Nope. Nothing.
"You're really just gonna smack every inch of it, huh?" He asked her.
"Yup! And I'm going to make you wait through every agonizing second of it." She chirped, continuing to the last bit of the ceiling. Her fist was starting to ache, but she was almost done with the ceiling.
And once more, nothing.
"Are you done now? I told you there wasn't anything to find."
"I'm checking the walls next." She replied simply.
"Just be careful. You wouldn't want to trigger a trap..."
"Of course you'd all have traps around here." She responded, moving from the ceiling down to the wall.
"But of course! Have to entertain you somehow, right?"
Aurora didn't respond to that, instead following along the wall, doing her usual tricks. For good measure, she flipped the bird towards the empty room.
She felt a panel move under her hand just as her spider sense went off and she dodged a blade flying past her.
"Woah!" Aurora moved to the side, and focused on where the knife had come out. She went for the panel again, with the intention to break it apart.
It wiggled but didn't break.
Aurora cursed, moving along the wall to try and find another panel.
Another from across the room shot at her but she once again narrowly dodged it.
"Ha! Nice try. You're really not that good at this are you?" She smirked, continuing on her way.
Another missed her.
"I haven't gotten to test this out before so forgive my poor aim, the delay is more than I thought." Was the response.
"Where were those manners when you were shocking the hell out of me earlier?" Aurora asked sourly. She continued along the wall, running her hands over any differences, being mindful of her arm.
"Why are you working here anyway?" She smirked. "I think you would fare better in a circus setting."
Instead of a response she was greeted with a blade digging into her lower back, vertically aligned next to her spinal cord.
