Chapter 88
The next thing Aurora knew, she sucked in a sharp breath, reaching out for the locks. Only, the locks weren't there, and she wasn't where she had passed out.
And she had tried to reach out but her arm didn't move much it seemed to be tied down to something-
Aurora struggled against the restraints, finding she couldn't break through them. Some wriggling around later, she realized the familiar feeling of the suppressor on her ankle.
The more she came to the more aware she became of the cold metal table she was lying on and the beeping of a heart monitor nearby as well as muffled voices.
Aurora cracked her eyes open, retracting a bit as the light stung at her eyes. After getting somewhat used to the brightness, she glanced around the room and heard the beeping begin to race.
The voices hushed as she heard footsteps approach her. "Well, well. Looks like the spider has finally woken up." A very familiar voice greeted her and the knife man from the alleyway came into view, a grin on his face. "Glad you could finally join us, sunshine."
Aurora's eyes widened and her heartbeat sped up immensely. She could feel a panic settle into her chest and she reactively squeezed her eyes shut. Nope. No. This can't be happening.
She heard him click his tongue slightly. "Aww, you excited to see me, sunshine?" He teased her. "I'll have to admit, I certainly am surprised to see you."
He tilted his head watching her squeeze her eyes shut and turn her head away. "That's no way to treat someone who's talking to you," He tilted her head back towards him.
"Come on, we got some questions for you."
Aurora resisted against him, trying to pull her head away. Just the feeling of his hand made her want to be sick. "No!"
"Come now, don't be like that! After all, we had some unfinished business!" His hand held tight to her chin. "Don't you think it'll be easier to breathe if we took this pesky little mask off?" His fingers started to tug at the edges.
She sucked in a sharp breath, her eyes popping open again. She turned her head swiftly and moved to smack her head into his.
However she didn't get far as he wasn't leaning close and she felt restraints across her chest keep her down.
"Tsk. That's not a very nice thing to do." He told her. "You're lucky I'm in a good mood." He chuckled softly. "Otherwise I might have had to punish you for that. But regardless," He grinned. "Let's see that pretty face of yours, hmm?" And with a fluid motion, he pulled the mask off her head.
All the blood drained out of her face as she stared up in horror at the man. All of her efforts trying to prevent this back at the alleyway really had amounted to nothing. Now here she was, unmasked and not even in her suit, restrained in the one place she really shouldn't be.
"See? Was that really so bad?" He grinned, taking in the fear in her blue eyes and purple hair. "I should be calling you Periwinkle instead of Sunshine, huh?" He turned to look at a nearby tray. "Well then, Peri, I'm afraid we're gonna have to dilate your eyes so you can't see our faces but I've been tasked with that job as we've already met." He told her.
"Don't you fucking touch me you sick piece of shit-" Aura hissed out. She was reminded of the alley fight and hocked a spitball towards him once again. This one didn't have blood, but it would do.
He just about dodged but it just grazed him and he glared at her and wiped it away. "Do you want another knife in your gut, Peri? Cause we don't need you alive." He threatened her. "We can always go out and find your other spider friend."
He grabbed a small dropper filled with a liquid. "Don't make this harder than it needs to be." He told her.
"You're not going to lay a finger on them." She growled in response, watching him with wild eyes. She hated this man with every fiber in her being. Once again, she tried pulling her head away to try and avoid the dropper. She's had her eyes dilated before, but usually it wasn't used against her.
He sighed in annoyance and tilted his head at her. "Look. Either you let me do this or I use a paralysis agent then do it. Either way, you're dealing with it."
"No." Was her simple response. Nothing that would happen here would be done willingly.
He sighed, set the dropper down and grabbed a needle instead. "Alright then, your choice, Periwinkle." He injected it into her arm and then set it aside and grabbed the dropper again and grabbed hold of her head to try to hold her still to attempt to drip the liquid in.
Even with the needle, she struggled against him. Although now her movements were becoming more difficult, as a numb feeling bloomed from the injection site. "You. Shithead."
"Your language is very colorful." He replied, that teasing tone gone and he sounded a bit annoyed. "It's not going to help you though." He finally got the drops in one eye and then the other and put it down. "Alright. That should kick in in a minute here." He crossed his arms. "How is your friend doing, by the way? He didn't look too hot last time." He smirked a bit.
Aurora glared over at him, the numbness still spreading through her body. She hated this. She hated him. "He's doing perfectly fine. Healed up great and everything." She was tempted to spit at him again. "No thanks to you."
"Oh? Interesting. I see you're the same way." He looked smug. "But everything healed up for him?" He raised an eyebrow, a twinkle in his eye.
"Yeah, he actually healed up a lot faster than I did." Of course she was lying, but there was no way in hell she'd let him have the satisfaction of knowing what he had caused Peter to really go through.
He hummed softly, a smirk still on his face. Either she didn't know or they needed to adjust it. Either was fine. It was a test after all.
"Interesting. How's your sight doing? It looks like it's kicking in." He noted, seeing her eyes start dilating.
"It's still fantastic, but if it's any consolation, the blurriness should make your ugly mug a lot more bearable." Aurora smirked. Her eyes were dilating, however, and it was causing her vision to blur, especially under the bright lights of the lab.
"Well that just means we can get started here in a minute." He replied.
She heard the door open and shut behind someone as they walked into the room, their footsteps echoing slightly.
"Well... would you look at that?" Another familiar voice spoke up. It was the one who interrogated her and Peter when they were captured almost two weeks ago now...
Aurora tensed up hearing the new voice. She knew that voice from somewhere, she'd heard it before, where did she know that voice from-? Her mind raced before she realized it was the voice from the first time they were caught. She began to struggle against the restraints again, although the paralysis agent was making it difficult.
"Isn't this interesting? Who would've thought that the feisty little girl that was with 25 would turn out to be one of the spiders?" He sounded amused. "What a surprise... I wonder... What are the odds that it was three little spiders we caught in a jar that day?"
The knife man stood aside, watching the interaction, glancing at Aurora every now and then.
"I have no idea what you're taking about-" She tried, knowing it was probably too late anyway. If she wasn't so against killing people, these two would be at the top of her hit list. "What the hell do you two want anyway?" Each word that passed her lips was laced with acid.
"Simple. We want to know how you work. If we can figure that out, we might be able to perfect our serum." He replied.
"Which leads to the next part. We don't need you alive for that." He warned her. "So unless you want to see how much damage you can survive, I suggest behaving."
Oh well that's not panic-inducing at all. She didn't want this to happen. If they got that information out of her, who knows what havoc they'd create with it. God she hated how evil some people could be! "Don't lay a finger on me, or I'll start rethinking my moral values."
A deep laugh came from him. "Sorry, little spider. I just find that amusing considering your situation. You are fully restrained, paralyzed for the most part and your powers are being suppressed. So if I wanted to," He pressed his hand against her forearm, the chill of metal seeping through the fabric as he slowly pressed a bit harder, threatening to break it.
"I could squish you."
Aurora smirked. Internally? Yeah she was freaking the hell out. Her heart was nearly beating out of her chest, and it was beginning to hurt. Outwardly? No, she wouldn't give them the satisfaction. So maybe she was a bit petty. "What? Like a bug? Didn't expect such awful jokes from you jerks. Guess I set the bar too high."
Before she had time to even process it, she felt the excruciating pain coming from her arm as a loud crack or two came from it when he crushed it under the pressure of the metal table and his metal arm.
Aurora let out a shocked scream, the pain shooting through her arm. "Stop!!" She knew these guys were bad, but she didn't think he'd actually go through with it! Then again...
They said they didn't need her alive.
He released the pressure, looking down at her. "Maybe you'll watch your tongue now." He growled.
Dammit! She cursed silently, resorting instead to glaring daggers at the two men. She hated that she had gotten into this situation, hated that they had gotten caught, hated that- Wait. "What've you done with Tony?"
"You should be more worried about yourself, little spider." He replied coldly.
She sensed someone come around to her other side and tie something around her bicep and roll her sweater sleeve up and wipe the inside of her elbow before she felt the needle pierce her skin.
Aurora flinched, trying to pull away from the needle. She loathed needles. Her eyes flickered wildly from one man to the other, finding it difficult to see them clearly. "What the hell is that??"
"Just drawing some blood to test with, nothing to worry about, kid." The knife man replied.
She found she couldn't really move her limbs at all anymore, the paralysis finally setting in completely but she seemed to still be able to talk and slightly tilt her head around.
No, no no. That was a lot to worry about. If they got ahold of her blood... it was terrifying to think about. "Get your filthy mitts off of me."
"Are you gonna stop us?" He raised an eyebrow at her. "Cause it sure doesn't seem that way."
"When I get out of here, yeah. You'll regret it." She seethed.
"When you get out?" The other laughed again. "Oh little spider, you aren't going anywhere."
"You'd like to think that, wouldn't you?" Aurora responded, this time sneering. She knew she was in deep trouble, but if she could find one small opening- She'd take it.
"Then tell me, who is going to come for you, hmm?"
She snorted, leaning her head back to stare blankly at the ceiling. "I never said anyone was."
"So, you'll what? Get out on your own?" He asked her as the person working on her arm kept focused.
"With your powers suppressed? Without Stark's technology?"
"That's for me to know, and you to find out-" She snickered. She was beginning to feel a bit woozy, and the adrenaline burst from her arm wasn't helping.
He just chuckled at her. "I take it you aren't going to answer our questions, correct?"
"Nope." She popped the pronunciation of the word, continuing to stare up at the ceiling. It didn't matter if she wanted to glare at them anyway, her vision was too blurred.
"Then we'll get our answers another way." He replied as they pulled the needle out and wrapped her arm, taking the blood out of the room to the other labs.
"I seem to recall you handling electricity surprisingly well... We could start with that." He watched her closely.
Aurora furrowed her brows together, humming in thought. "Mm. I remember that, yeah." At this point she was tired, in pain, and just wanted to get out of there.
"Not even going to give me a break after crushing my arm though? That's some bad manners."
"I never said I had any." Was his response before she felt a high powered shock in her side.
"Ah! Son of a-" She groaned, feeling her body convulse and shake from the electricity. She gritted her teeth, keeping her mouth shut.
He ramped it up a bit higher and suddenly she felt shocks where her skin was touching the metal table as well.
She heard the crackling and snapping of the sparks and vague flashes of light.
She screamed out again, followed by a static-y slew of curse words. She could feel her muscles tightening and spasming without her doing anything, the feeling of the electricity almost a burning sensation.
It felt like it went on forever but it had only been a minute more before he turned it off and another minute or two before it finally stopped conducting between the table and her.
After the shocks subsided, she lay on the table panting, trying to catch her breath. Small muscle spasms continued, even after the electricity was turned off.
"So it's not as high as I was expecting... Interesting." He noted, unbothered by her screaming or spasms.
"What else can you do, little spider?" He watched her, tilting his head slightly.
"Put your head on a spike that's what-" Aurora seethed out, trying to keep the spasms under control. With each one, a twinge of pain shot through her.
He laughed. "You? No. 25? Probably." He replied. "Honestly, I'm surprised you two associate with her so much. She's a ticking time bomb, you know."
The knife man stepped forward. "May I test our serum again? Once we moved her to her cell, of course."
"I don't see why not."
"She's our friend." Aura shot back, her muscles aching. If only she didn't have that damned suppressor on, she could shock these two right back. Give them a taste of their own medicine. She wondered if she'd burn through the paralysis agent if it was off, too.
"So you're willing to keep her around because she's your friend? Even though she could try to kill you at any given time?" He asked her, checking the heart monitor and a few other things.
"I don't have to explain my reasoning to you, a guy who probably doesn't even know what a friend is." Her eyes still felt blurry, and they danced across the ceiling, trying to focus.
He hummed softly and she felt him start undoing her restraints then grabbed her by her wrists in his metal hand, letting her hang from them as he picked her up.
"That's all the tests we can do in here." Was all he said as he carried her out of the room, the other following closely behind.
She let out a small hiss, the pain from her injured arm flaring up again. As flexible as she was, no one would be comfortable being carried like that. As they walked, she tried to familiarize herself with the path, trying to make out what she could.
It took them a few minutes but she was soon placed in a cell and something else was clicked onto her other ankle.
It felt cold and heavy and rattled when it was moved.
He propped her up in the corner and stepped away, taking the power suppression cuff with him.
"Make yourself comfortable. This is where you'll be for the next while." He told her as he headed for the door.
Aurora groaned, tilting her head up as far as she could to watch him leave. Her arm was killing her, and for now she was glad she couldn't move it. Her gaze turned towards her cell, trying to size it up.
It was a decent sized room, no windows, no visible vents, the door was hidden too.
There was a cot on the wall, and a small walled off bathroom.
It looked like the ones she saw in those videos...
The thought sent a shiver down her spine. She really didn't want to become another one of those experiments. She had seen what awful things happened to them, and had no desire to partake in that.
She felt herself start to be able to move again though it was still slow and sluggish and she seemed to be left to her own devices now.
Aurora thought it was oddly quick how the paralysis went through her system. She started by lifting her good arm, opening and closing her hand slowly. She made a small irritated sound, finding she didn't move as fast as she liked.
The more she tested it the easier it became for her to move and her eyes were starting to slowly refocus as well.
"Hm." She sounded, going through her muscle control, finding what was easier to move. She considered herself lucky that he didn't try crushing her leg. Maybe she had a chance.
