Matt groaned, blinking himself awake. The fact that he was waking up naturally was immediately off putting. He pushed himself up, running his hands over his eyes.

He felt something shift beside him and realized someone was fast asleep next to him and had been cuddling with him and wasn't phased when he moved.

Matt didn't recognize them, no, he couldn't recognize them. The heartbeat and breathing were strikingly normal. He thought back to the night before, calming himself. Of course, the suppressor.

Kasey was still fast asleep as he started fully waking up. She seemed to be peaceful for the time being, only shifting a little bit in her sleep.

Matt let out a relieved sigh and stretched, feeling his back pop in a few spots. The feeling was wonderful, as it helped to relieve some of the tension in his back.

The door creaked open and Claire blinked in surprise. "Oh, hey." She greeted quietly. "I was just coming to check on you guys... Is she still out?" She asked him.

Matt tilted his head towards Kasey, before nodding. "Yeah, she's still out like a light." He turned his focus back to Claire. "Has Tony contacted you yet? About anything?"

Claire shook her head. "No, nothing. It's been a few hours now... I'm getting kinda worried..."

"A few hours?" Matt hadn't even thought he had been sleeping for that long. "Something has to be up, they wouldn't be gone for that long, and not update us."

Claire nodded. "Should I try calling him?" She asked, hesitantly.

Kasey shifted a little bit, curling up against Matt again with a small hum, oblivious to their conversation.

Matt frowned down at Kasey, knowing all of this might upset her further. He didn't know if it would be better or worse to call him. "I'd say yes, but if he's in a tight spot..."

"I'll try." She told him, turning to leave the room. "Just stay with Kasey and try not to wake her."

"I'll try." He kept his voice low, wanting Kasey to sleep for as long as possible. If she woke up and panicked... he was afraid of what would happen.

Claire stood in the living room, trying to call Tony but he wouldn't pick up until finally Friday answered the phone.

"Mr. Murdock?" Her voice asked.

"Uh, Claire actually- Is Tony there? I was just calling to check in on him-"

"I-" Friday... hesitated? "I cannot contact Tony either. I redirected this call to the Tower."

Claire's eyes widened. "What do you-?"

"I fear something in that building is blocking my ability to connect to his suit like normal. I have no contact with him or Interweb nor can I detect them."

"Shit..." Claire muttered softly. "Is there anyone that can go check on them?"

"...No. Spider-man is out of commission until further notice, as is Kasey." She replied.

Matt sat on the bed, eavesdropping in on the one sided conversation. He didn't get much context from the conversation, but it was enough to have a solid guess on what was happening. The mission must've gone sideways, and none of their allies were able to help.
