Chapter 72

The doors to the medbay slid open and Tony walked in. Alone.

Peter was still tense, unsure if he locked her up already or if she just wasn't here.

He noticed them both staring at him tense and sighed. "No, I didn't bring her back here." He told them, knowing what they were thinking.

Aurora would've relaxed, if it wasn't for her rigidness being replaced with confusion. If Kasey wasn't with Tony, then... "Where is she then? Were you not able to find her?"

"Kind of." He replied. "We tracked down Atlas but she left him at Matt's place as a decoy and she dipped. Friday did relocate her with a scan but-"

He hesitated before sighing. "Matt and I made an agreement." He explained. "She's going to stay with him for a week then I'll be bringing her here."

Peter paled. He got Matt to agree to that?! That was worse then him just snatching her!!

He was risking damaging her relationship with Matt! One that she told him directly, meant everything to her!

Aurora scowled, and she would've crossed her arms if she wasn't trying to relax the one that had been cut. "You can't be serious-"

She understood the deal, knowing Tony was probably being a stubborn ass, but that was still awful. "Why can't you just leave her alone?"

"I-... Damn it," He swore with a sigh. "I can't tell you." He replied, making Peter narrow his eyes.

Kade had slipped out of the room to let them talk.

"What do you mean you can't tell us?" Peter typed.

"I mean, I promised I wouldn't say." He admitted, leaning against the wall, crossing his arms.

"Oh, well then by all means." Aurora grumbled. "That totally would explain the whole, yelling at us and storming out to go chase her down, only to come back saying you'll bring her back in a week." Her voice was dripping with sarcasm, and her mind was clearing up from the anesthesia.

Peter nodded in agreement with Aurora.

Tony sighed tiredly. "Well for starters I apperently can't bring her back here legally cause she's eighteen and I'm not a legal guardian." He explained. "Matt was refusing to give her up and I refused to back down so he made the offer and it was as good as it was going to get so I agreed." He tried to sum it up.

"But I can't explain why I have to bring her back." He glanced to the side. "I promised her I wouldn't."

Well, that made some sense that the lawyer would bring up legality in a situation like this. But that didn't calm her any.

"I'm sure she's really glad that you're keeping your promises while pursuing her." Aurora said, glaring him down. Deep in the back of her mind she knew that this argument was pointless, and that he was dealing with... something. But it infuriated her to no end how he had acted, and that caused her to continue pushing.

Tony pinched the bridge of his nose. "Look, neither of you are to bother them this week either. You need to focus on recovery. I have work I need to do so if you need something, ask Kade." He moved to leave the room.

Well that was just great. Not only were they being withheld from seeing Kasey, they were being stuck here? If that was the case, the next time they saw Kasey, it would be when she was brought back to the tower, probably against her will.

She didn't say anything against him leaving, instead just watching him leave.

Peter also watched before glancing at Aurora, concern etched across his face.

Aurora waited for Tony to be gone before turning and taking notice of Peter. "We'll find a way to make things right." She said, having assumed he was concerned about Kasey.

"In the meantime, I don't know if I can stand being here for a whole week."

"You can maybe come stay at my place if you want?" Peter offered, typing it out. "May wouldn't mind."

"That would be nice." She laughed lightly. "May is really too kind." It was true, May had one of the biggest hearts of anyone Aurora knew.

"I'll text her and update her on the situation and once we're able to travel we can head there." He smiled at her. "Maybe we can brainstorm something then."

"Thank you, again." She hated to be putting him and May out like that, but she liked staying over there with them. "Hopefully we can think of something before the weekends."

"Yeah. I hate the fact he's turning Matt against her..." He sighed softly.

"He's such a good guy too." Aurora shook her head lightly. Kasey really seemed to like him, so thinking that Tony was turning them against each other remade her feel sick. All of this was just so twisted...

"I doubt he had any other options if he agreed to something like that." Peter pointed out. "I just hope Kasey doesn't take it the wrong way..."

"I hope not either." She traced her finger down the treated cut on her opposite arm. "I know Tony said we can't bug them, but... I want to know how she feels about all of this, y'know?"

"Yeah... I mean... we didn't agree not to go by or call her-" He pointed out with a small shrug.

Aurora let out a soft laugh. "You've got that right. Of course, if she doesn't want to talk I get that, but it doesn't hurt to try."

Peter nodded. "Maybe tomorrow, you know, when it's not 1:30 in the morning-"

"Is it really-" She turned, checking one of the clocks in the room. So much time had passed, and it felt like her rhythm was completely thrown off. "You're right, I don't want to bother her more..."

"Plus we'd all have time to cool down some." He added.

"Yeah." Aurora leaned back, laying back down slowly. She wouldn't admit it, but she needed some cool down time. Her brain was tired and it felt like it was buzzing with thoughts.

"Just try to sleep," he told her. "We'll see how we are tomorrow."

"I'll try, but I won't promise you anything. I've been passed out way too much today to know if I'll even sleep or not." She replied, but closed her eyes anyway.

"Mmm. Fair enough." He replied before laying back. "Night." He typed before setting his phone aside and curling up carefully in the bed.

"Goodnight." She said, trying her best to get comfortable. It really was difficult, considering there was a healing wound on just about every part of her body.

It didn't take long for Peter to pass back out, his body still exhausted from the past few days.

It took a good while before she was tired, but she eventually found her way to sleep.
