Chapter 25
After a while Aurora felt that they had searched as much as they could. In reality it was a very terrifying and saddening room, and she didn't quite like being in there.
Tony turned to her after a bit. "That everything?" He asked.
"As much as I can find." Aurora spoke, doing one last check before turning to Tony. "Should we move on?"
"Yeah. Any other rooms you know of?" He put everything in the bag and slung it over his shoulder.
"The observation rooms, and a few we passed on the way out of here." Aurora responded. Although she wasn't fond of revisiting the spot where she got zapped, if it was necessary, she'd go.
Tony nodded. "Lead the way. We need to check as many places as possible."
"Right." She gave a curt nod, and silently left the room, she retraced her steps, until she came to a door that looked like it was smashed in. "I think.. this was my observation room."
Tony raised an eyebrow at the smashed door. "Kasey?" He asked her.
"Yeah. She was pretty much our ticket out of here." Now that she could see into the room, she was able to see the huge multidirectional treadmill as well.
"I assume once she realized who these people were she just didn't care if she showed off." He looked at the treadmill and the way the room was designed to be a type of sensory deprivation chamber.
"Pretty much, yeah. She was like a tank." Aurora nodded, creeping into the room to snoop around.
He chuckled. "Must've been quite the sight, I'm sure."
"It would've been, if I could see." Aurora joked, hesitating to step into the center of the room, as if it might trigger something. She cursed herself for her nerves, wondering why now she was getting the chills.
"You don't have to go in. I don't think there will be anything useful inside." He told her, noticing her hesitance.
"Heh, you're probably right." She wouldn't comment much on that, just glad to hang out around the doorway.
"Let's keep looking," He led her away from the space.
"I think the three observation rooms were near to each other, so they'd be able to keep an eye on us all. There might be information in the viewing rooms." She spoke.
"Alright, we can check there." He agreed, starting to look around, heading to the viewing rooms.
The viewing rooms were much better for her nerves than the room they were previously in. She found one of the viewing rooms and stepped inside, finding it to be a mess. There were papers strewn everywhere and an office chair was knocked on its side. "Yikes."
Tony whistled quietly. "Well this is a proper mess-" He commented before spotting several blood stains, some bigger than others, on the floor. "And that's not at all concerning-"
"I have a feeling this is the area Kasey escaped from. I heard a huge ruckus before she broke me and Peter out." She spoke in hushed tones, bending down and picking up some of the scattered papers to look at. "Looks like they were documenting all three of us."
"Or something like that..." Tony agreed, picking up a couple papers himself.
Aurora flipped through a few of the pages. "Lots of comparing between what we were saying about how we met Kasey, and stuff like that. There's some side notes about Peter withstanding the suffocation and my electrocution..."
"We'll bring those with us then." He sighed. "Hopefully they didn't look too deep into that..."
"Yeah, that would be more trouble that I don't need." Aurora muttered, reading the notes over once more before tucking them away.
"Or Underoos." He agreed. "There's... there's something else we need to look for here." He told her after a moment. "I don't know what it is or what it looks like but we need to find it."
"You don't know what it looks like and you don't know what it is? That's sure helpful." Aurora teased, giving the room one more once over. "Maybe we should split up."
"Are you sure? I don't wanna leave you alone here..."
She tapped the side of her mask, where her ears were hidden. "I've got the comms set up. If anything happens, I can tell you, and you can tell me. I'll be fine, promise."
Tony hesitated before sighing. "Fine. Do not engage them." He warned her.
"Mm. Sure, definitely won't." Aurora nodded, already knowing if shit went down she'd be going for it. She just couldn't let them get away with what they did to her group.
"Webs, I'm serious. If they have been trying to make spider soldiers, they may be learning how to contain them too. I do not want you getting caught."
"I know, I know." She rolled her eyes, stepping back towards the door. "I'll go on ahead to the other rooms. I'll let you know if I see anything."
"Great, uh, look for something with the numbers 13211220922518195." He told her.
"Thought you said you didn't know what that was." Aurora poked fun at him before slipping out the door, and taking off down the hallway.
"I said I don't know, but I know it's with those numbers." He replied back. "Seriously, call me if you find them. Don't engage with it."
"Yeah, yeah." She waved a dismissive hand, continuing down the hallway. He really was overprotective sometimes, and she wondered how he hadn't filed adoption papers for the three of them yet, based on how fatherly he acted.
Tony sighed and headed off his own way to search.
