Chapter 15
Aurora sat on one of the rooftops in Hell's Kitchen, currently waiting for Tony to pick up the phone. She had barely wanted to call Peter and tell him what happened, but after a lengthy bout of bickering back and forth, Aurora was finally convinced to tell Tony.
She knew her and Kasey would probably get their ears chewed off by him, but she wanted to find Kasey. She bit at her lips nervously, listening to the dial tone. Knowing it was late at night, she just hoped he'd pick up.
She heard the phone click as he answered. "Hello?" He sounded like she had just woken him up.
"Heyyy, I know it's kind of late right now, and I'm sorry if I woke you up but-" Aurora pinched the bridge of her nose, cursing Peter for talking her into this and mentally preparing herself. "I'm in Hell's Kitchen right now, I met Kasey while I was here and then we fought some low level muggers in an alley, but I took the victim away and when I came back some guy in a red suit took off with Kasey." She spat it all out at once.
Tony sat there for a long minute. There was just silence for a hot minute before she heard Friday faintly repeating her and she heard something fall to the floor. "You're where and you did what-" He demanded, now much more awake.
Shit. "Hell's Kitchen. I don't know where she is now.. but I think she's hurt." Aurora pulled her mask off her face, running her hand through her hair nervously. "There was some blood in the alley."
Tony did the same as he sat up straight. "Uh, her suit, was she in it?" He asked her, trying to figure out how to find her quickly.
"No, she was in her civilian clothes." Aurora explained. She continued on to give the address of where she currently was.
He took a sharp inhale. "She got into a fight in her civilian clothes??" He sighed tiredly. "Have you informed Peter?"
"Yes, and yes. Peter said he was on his way before I called you." Aurora didn't bring up the fact that Peter was the deciding factor in her calling.
"And you called him before me?" He sounded like he was going to scold her but he just sighed. "At least you called." He ran his hand through his hair as he stood up. "What did you say happened again? How did she disappear?"
Aurora winced lightly at the first question. "I met her in Hell's Kitchen, and we found a lady being attacked by like three muggers. After fighting them a bit, I took the lady to safety while Kasey took on the baddies. Then I came back and saw a glimpse of her thrown over the shoulder of some guy in a red suit." She then realized she had basically left Kasey to defend for herself. What have I done?
Tony stood there. That was a lot to unpack. "Okay, so she snuck out, you snuck out, met each other in Hell's kitchen, fought three muggers, saved a lady while Kasey stayed and fought the three muggers in her civilian clothes and you come back to find her being stolen away by a guy in a red suit-" He repeated back. "Did I get everything?"
Aurora dropped her head into her empty hand, groaning internally. Of course it would sound stupid now that it was explained back to her. "Mhm. Sounds about- no, exactly right."
Tony moved the call to his suit and headed towards Hell's kitchen. "Friday, search for a guy in a red suit, Hell's kitchen."
"Result found: The Devil of Hell's Kitchen, DareDevil." She replied.
Tony stopped for a moment before taking a deep breath. "Get Underoos on the phone too."
Friday dialed Peter's number as he flew.
Aurora stood up, searching for Tony's suit. She appreciated how much he cared for them, and that he would come away with the drop of a hat to help them, but... god it made her feel weak. She should've been able to find Kasey.
Peter picked up through his own suit, as he was swinging towards Hell's Kitchen. "Yeah Mr. Stark?" He called out. "I'm headed there now if that's what you're calling about!"
"That's part of it kid but I wanted you on the call so you both understand the situation. Friday found a match to Interweb's description," He explained as he closed in on Aurora's location.
"The main result being that she saw The Devil of Hell's Kitchen snatching Kasey."
Oh great. That really drove the last nail into her coffin. She let the freakin Devil waltz off with her friend.
"That Daredevil guy I read about in the news? I thought he was just a myth! But I haven't heard a lot of good things about him..." Peter spoke, worried for Kasey.
"Exactly. We know nothing about him. Shield didn't even have anything on him. He keeps to himself and his corner." He sighed as he landed across from Aurora.
"We don't know who he is, what he is, what his capabilities are, what any of his morals, if he has any, are," He listed off. "We basically know nothing aside from what the news here puts out from time to time."
He crossed his arms. "A lot of its rumors but we can't confirm if they're true. One of which he's territorial." He pointed out.
"Another is he leaves behind trails of nearly dead bodies. A lot of which end up dead shortly after."
He let his mask pull up, his face distressed. "And that he takes it upon himself to decide who's worthy of being saved and who's going to be condemned."
Aurora tucked her phone back into her protective pocket, slipping the mask back over her head. For now, she'd help to find that daredevil guy, and possibly beat the crap out of him for taking off with her friend. "That's just great. We've got a guy we know nothing about with Kasey, and we just have to hope that he deemed her worthy enough to save? This is crazy."
Peter arrived shortly after, swinging up onto the roof and sticking the landing. He jogged over to the two, looking between them. "What should we do? Split up to cover more ground?"
"We can't risk that with the people that took you three located here too. We don't know if they've left or not. We need to stay closer together since we don't know what we are dealing with. The closer we are the faster we can help if there's an issue." He explained.
"Right." Aurora walked over to the ledge of the building, pointing down into the alley. "This is where we had that fight. I saw Daredevil take Kasey onto the next roof and head east. That's the last I saw."
He nodded. "Then we start in that direction. Stay in touch. Here," He tossed Aurora qn eye piece. "Stay in touch, stay close, and whatever you do, do not engage him alone." He told them firmly.
Aurora took the piece and equipped it under her mask to keep in touch with the others. "Copy that." She grumbled, jumping over the next roof and setting off for any clues.
"Yes sir." Peter responded, sticking close by, but covering a different side of the block.
Tony watched them both go before taking off himself, higher into the air to be the eye in the sky and track both of them.
Aurora continued to the next roof, finding a couple droplets of blood, but not much more. She continued searching, forcing herself to check every possible nook and cranny for evidence of Kasey or Daredevil.
Tony wasn't getting much either, even with Friday's assistance. Hell's kitchen isn't that big, they have to be somewhere!! Surely a guy in a red suit would stick out here, right?
