Kestrel shot awake with a gasp .

It took a moment for her breathing to return to normal .

She sat on her bed , upright and looked around her room .

It was still dark . She sighed . 

She heard the sound of footsteps .

"Dune?" .

After a moment of silence , the door to her room opened and Dune stepped inside "You called?" .

"Yeah" . He sat down beside her , an arm around her shoulders "What is it?" .

"It was another nightmare . And I was confirming if I heard your footsteps" . "Oh . You wanna talk about it?" .

She fiddled with the hem of her orange shirt . She wanted to talk about it , yet didn't at the same time . Not that she didn't trust him . She trusted him the most out of the 4 .

"Um...." . "It's OK if you don't wanna talk about it . I'm not gonna force it out of you" .

She sighed in relief .

She leaned on to him "Are you gonna go back to sleep?" .

"No" He said "You?" . She shook her head .

"Since we're both staying up for a while , how about we do something?" .

"Sure" She hopped off the bed "What do you wanna do?" .

"Read something?" He suggested . "OK . Which one?" .

"Let's get to the bookshelves first and see which ones we want to read" .

Chameleon turned the page to the epilogue of the book .

It ended with the main villian , kissing a sleeping woman on the forehead and falling asleep beside her himself .

"Oh C'mon . You can't just end a book like that! who was that woman or Juniper?" He fell down on the bed with a sigh .

The door opened and Scarlet came in . She was wearing a maroon shirt with jeans . Her scarlet hair flowed down to her shoulders and her amber eyes were glinting dangerously . If there was one thing that the Carter siblings had in common , were their dazzling amber eyes .

"Shut fangirling about your book . Cass and I are having a movie night . Wanna join? " She snapped .

"Coming" He whined . "You know which room it is" and she left .

He sighed again and got off the bed , straightening his khaki shirt with his hands before going out of the room . He walked down the hallway before coming in front of a doorway that was covered by shiny red curtains .

He parted them to see Cassandra reachin-well , trying to reach the remote which Scarlet was holding above herself .

"No . I'm gonna choose the movie!"

"No . You're not . I will!"

"I'm choosing the movie and that's final!"

"Says who? Says you . And no one cares what you say!"

"No one cares what you say!"

"I'm your older sister . You do what I say!"

"Like I'll listen to you!"

"You should , you idiot!"

"Well , I don't want to . You can't change that"

"Well , I'm choosing the movie . You can't change that"

"Not if I want to" 

Chameleon sighed and pinched the spot between his eyes . If those two are in a room , alone , then you can never come back to them sitting peacefully . You could expect an argument or all out wrestling .

He quietly snuck up behind Scarlet and snatched the remote from her hand .

She turned around , obviously surprised . When her eyes landed on him , she glared at the copper haired boy .

He walked to the couch and sat down on it "Everyone's choosing a movie . That's final" .

"What?" Scarlet asked . "We'll watch everyone's chosen movies"

"YAY!"Cassandra cheered and pointed at Scarlet "That's how older siblings should be , learn from him , Scarlet" .

Scarlet glared at her and growled "I can do what I want . I'm not gonna learn anything from lizard" . Oh how he hated that nickname . She called him 'lizard' , as an insult and nickname .

Hey , it's not his fault that he could change the color of his skin , hair and eyes . Also , stick on walls or ceilings .

The eldest Carter sibling sighed . He grabbed both of their arms and pulled them down to sit on the couch . Either on one side of him , Cassandra on the left and Scarlet on his right . The redhead sat with her legs up the couch . She rested the bottom part of her knees on the armrest , the rest of her legs hanging on the side Idk how to explain this . If you understand this , I'm very grateful!  .

"Now , which ones do each of you wanna watch?" He twirled the remote in his hand .

"The Emoji Movie" Cassandra said It's an all out AMAZING movie! .

"Insidious: Chapter 2" Scarlet said It's a great one too! .

"Okay . I wanna watch Zootopia" He said I can rant a whole 5 page essay on why this movie is beautiful , amazing , heartfelt and adorable .

"You guys chose such childish movies" Scarlet grumbled .

"Have you watched them?" He asked his sister . She shook her head .

"We'll see what you think of them after you watch them" Cass looked over Chameleon's shoulder to look at Scarlet .

"What do you think of them now?"

Scarlet sighed "Fine . They were great". She muttered "I may even ship some characters in it" .

Chameleon crossed his arms and leaned back , wearing a smug grin on his face "See?" . "Are you wiping that grin off your face or do I have to do it?" She raised her fist .

This caused him to grin even wider . 

She threw her clenched fist at him which he caught in his palm , his fingers encircling around her fist . She sighed and he let go of her fist .

"Wait , where's Cass?" 

The two looked at the couch . The youngest Carter sibling was sitting there , eating the popcorn , quietly . When she noticed them looking at her , she hugged the bowl "No . It's mine" . 

Scarlet rolled her eyes "It's all yours" . Cassandra went back to snacking the popcorn .

Chameleon got off his bed and went out of the room . 

He started walking down the hallway and stopped in front of a red door with a sign that had 'Don't disturb me or I'll murder you in your sleep'  written in caligraphy . 

He rolled his eyes and knocked on the door . No answer . 

He opened the door just a bit and peeked inside . 

Ah , that's why . Scarlet was sleeping , a book lay on her chest . 

He smirked and picked the book up . The copper haired boy put the book in it's place before turning back to her . He covered her with the duvet and kissed her cheek "G'night sis" .

His eyes caught a diary with a maroon velvet cover . He felt very tempted to read it but didn't since he knew his sister would be furious and beat the crap out of him if she found out that he'd read her diary . 

He turned the lights off , went out of the room , closing the door quietly behind himself and stood in front of another red door . It was across Scarlet's room . 

He knocked on it "Cass?" . No answer here too . 

He opened it and as he had thought , she was sleeping . He walked to her bed and kissed her forehead "G'night Cassie" . 

He went out of the room and closed the door quietly . The teen went back to his room and flopped down on the bed . 

That was a habit of his . He made sure that Cassandra and Scarlet were sleeping safe and soundly before falling asleep himself . He wasn't gonna let the same happen to them . 

Chameleon closed his eyes and drifted off into a serene slumber .
