"I'm back, bitches"

A young woman stood in the doorway. She had long scarlet hair that was tied in a fishtail braid slung over her shoulder and amber eyes. She was wearing a red tanktop with a black half sleeved leather jacket and shorts. One of her hands was on her hip, clad in black fingerless wrist length gloves. She was wearing black leggings under the shorts. She seemed to have no problem standing on those knee length black high heeled boots. She gave off an aura that screamed "Mess with me and I'll gouge your eyes out." She looked to be twenty of age.

Immediately, Salamander, Chameleon and Scarlet hid. The twins hid behind a curtain. Scarlet ducked behind the couch.

She walked in, her heels softly making contact with the soft carpet. Her steps were graceful yet threatening. Cassandra stood up with a squeal "You're back!"

Her amber gaze traveled to the curtain and the couch "Come out, Scarlet, and both of you lizards."

They shuffled out of their hiding places.

Salamander excused himself and went out of the room. As he did, Chameleon muttered "lizard."

"Don't forget you yourself are one" She said, raising an eyebrow. Scarlet secretly rolled her eyes.

"Sarah, I missed you so much!" Cassandra hugged her. Sarah smiled and hugged her back "I did too, you doofus."

Kestrel looked at the other two for some explanation but Scarlet mouthed 'later.'

After that, Scarlet and Chameleon hugged Sarah. She shook her head "You'll get your hugs separately, later."

They parted and Sarah turned to Kestrel as the two stood beside her. Cassandra was still leaning onto her and she had an arm wrapped around her.

"Care to introduce your best friend?" She asked.

"This is Kestrel" Chameleon said, taking her hand in his.

"Is she your?"

"No!" Both of them shouted at once, blushing furiously, not realising that they were holding hands.

I wish she was Scarlet and Cassandra thought.

"Well, Kestrel, I'm Sarah" She gave her a soft smile "a pleasure to meet the best friend of my baby siblings."

"We're not babies anymore" Chameleon muttered and Kestrel giggled. She found that adorable.

"Whatever" She ruffled his hair. He huffed and crossed his arms like a toddler before realising Kestrel was there too and his face flushed a bit.

She went out of the room with Cassandra.

Kestrel turned to Scarlet and Chameleon "Your sister?"

"Yeah...." She said "She's our elder sister."

"How old is she exactly?"

"20"

Kestrel sucked in a large breath.

Scarlet sat down on the couch, pulling her down with her because her hand was on grabbing onto on her arm.

"Oh this is bad" Chameleon paced around the room "Really bad."

Kestrel asked "Tell me more about her."

"Well, she's badder and bolder than any of us" Scarlet said "You know those bad girls in books? Yep, she's that girl."

Kestrel blinked. "And here I thought all siblings were good" She muttered.

"She is good" The teen boy said "She'd kill anyone who hurts her family, brutally. Once she dismembered a boy because he was physically bullying Cass." He shuddered as he said that, probably scarred from seeing that.

Cady ran inside, panting.

"Woah, Mama, are you okay?" Scarlet asked. Kestrel stood up from the couch, realising that she was probably their mother.

She held up a finger as if to say "Gimme a minute."

She looked at them and clasped her hands together "Sarah's home! Do you kids know?"

"Yeah" Chameleon nodded.

Her eyes landed on Kestrel and the teen felt like curling up inside a hole and never coming out.

"Who's this?" She asked.

"This" Scarlet started, wrapping an arm around her shoulders "Is Kestrel."

Cady looked between Chameleon and Kestrel. A slight smirk appeared on her kind face before disappearing.

She gave her a warm smile "Hello Kestrel. I'm Cady, you don't need to call me Ms. Carter. Just call me Cady, or Cadance, whichever you like."

Kestrel returned the smile "Hello Cady, nice to meet you"

"I'll walk you home"

"No no" Kestrel interjected "I'll be fine."

"I insist" Chameleon said, putting a hand on her shoulder.

They stared in each other's eyes for a moment, both of them getting lost in them.

"If you insist"

"Yay!" Chameleon cheered. He grabbed her hand, intertwining their fingers together "Come on."

The two sat on a bench in the park, watching the leaves sway with the gentle breeze.

Kestrel had wanted to go to the park for a little while and Chameleon had agreed.

"Hey, mind if I ask you something?" She asked in between of having a conversation.

"Go ahead"

"How many siblings do you exactly have?"

He thought for a minute before starting "Well, the eldest is Sarah, she's 20. Then are me and Sal, we're 17. Then Scarlet, she's 15. And lastly, Cass and Kate, one of them is 12 and the other would've been if it wasn't for someone." He muttered the last part, clenching one of his fists.

Kestrel gently placed a hand on his shoulder "Hey, I know it's hard to believe that he killed her, but who knows? He might've been possessed or something." 

He gave her a smile "I guess you're right."

After sitting in comforting silence with each other, he spoke up "Which books have you read, and absolutely love?"

"There are many" She wondered "Wings of Fire, Little Women, Matilda, Harry Potter, Dork Diaries, Twilight, and I'm a diehard Enid Blyton fan."

"Wow. Wait, you've read Twilight?"

"All five of them."

"Cass read that book when she was 11."

Kestrel's eyes widened "She read that book when she was 11!?"

He nodded "I know."

"Poor Cass must've been ruined after reading the whole saga."

He shrugged "Who said she wasn't ruined before?"

"Which books have you read?"

"All of which you said, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

"I've seen its movie."
