When the police arrived, what they saw is a couple of men lying unconscious to the ground. They did not know what happened and could not tell what they should do, so they waited for the people to wake up. Fortunately, it was the older man who woke up first and narrated the events according to what he can understand.

The officers listened to his explanation and were surprised about what they heard. So there was an attempted rape happening inside the house and this older man and a patient went over to save the victim just on time. Though the suspect fought with them and they could not do anything other than doing some self-defense.

Of course, the police were suspicious of his narration. After all, the set-up is already very weird to become believable. It is not normal to find four unconscious men in a house where one is still wearing some hospital gown, while the other is already naked. There must be something else!

They do not want to conclude things that easily so the officers investigated the area. One of them took hold of the suspect's room and found three footage cameras hidden on three different corners. It seems that this guy is filming their deed!

The older man was in a rage when he heard that Dong Wei wanted to capture their copulation. This reaction was doubled when Yan JiaYi became conscious. Just by seeing the cameras made the patient want to step and destroy it. The thing recorded the filthy man touching his precious one!

If only this is not needed as evidence, Yan JiaYi had already smashed all of its parts.

Dong Wei is already deemed as a suspect and was brought by the officers. The wounded were brought to the hospital for a check-up. However, Yan JiaYi suddenly collapsed when he saw Dong Wei being brought out. Knowing that Lang Yuan is now fine, his body stopped producing adrenaline causing his body to suddenly relax.

For a person with a heart problem, Yan JiaYi is indeed too lively.

When Lang Yuan's family heard the event, they hurriedly went to the hospital to check on their brother. Thankfully, Lang Yuan wasn't injured but he was suggested to stay for at least a day to look at his condition. The older man has no visible wounds and was discharged four hours later. The one who has a fatal condition would be Yan Jiayi.

He was brought inside the emergency room. All of his vital are all erratic as the doctor announced code blue. The kid has been unconscious for many days, how did he suddenly wake up last night? Nobody knows what kind of miracle happened but this drastic change of events left the professionals dumbfounded.

Fortunately, Yan JiaYi made it on time. After making sure that he is fine, he was sent back to his private room. Mother Yan almost fainted after knowing that his son ran away. She only managed to control herself after seeing Yan Jiayi back.

It was a very tiring night.

After three days, Yan JiaYi woke up.

He was emersed in a long dream that when he opened his eyes it was all hazy. He could see the familiar ceiling of his hospital room as his clouded eyes stared at it unfocused. If not due to the sound of moving on the corner of his bed will Yan JiaYi try to look at it; one could see that he is still not back from reality.

Lang Yuan shuffled around the corner. He had been visiting Yan JiaYi after he recovered. Nothing happened to him, aside from the assault, Lang Yuan is pretty much alright. His family made a huge effort to comfort him to which caused his quick recovery. Lang Yuan has good mental stability so he managed to get past the trauma.

However, on the other hand, the jerk Yan JiaYi almost returned to heaven after recklessly saving him from Dong Wei. He is grateful that Yan JiaYi made it on time before something happened, but he is also mad for him being stupid.

Does Yan JiaYi ever realize that if something did bad happened to him, Lang Yuan will not feel bad? Of course! Lang Yuan will blame himself. If not because of him, Yan JiaYi would have been alive, undergoing his heart transplant, and so on... His life will not end short.

Why do you like sacrificing yourself upon knowing that you will be going to leave him later anyway?

Are you purposely leaving a mark to make him feel honored?

Lang Yuan ignored the awkwardness that was brought by no trust. Who cares if Yan JiaYi wants to keep his condition hidden? Does he have no free will to act like he usually does? If the person that you wanted to stop reaching you out, then you should start building the bridge so you could reconnect again.

Only by giving a part of yourself, you will understand how a relationship works. It is not always one-sided, both people should work.

Lang Yuan is not at fault but he still apologized to Mother Yan. It was he who started the mess so he should take responsibility. Yan JiaYi never has a good heart, yet Lang Yuan stole it. Yan JiaYi wholeheartedly loved Lang Yuan that he is willing to give his heart, his body, and his life.

It is just that they are not meant for each other.

Lang Yuan is busy arranging the basket of fruits that he brought when he heard some movements coming from the bed. He turned around to look at the only guy who seems to be still half asleep. With a slight smile, Lang Yuan sat on the stool beside the bed to face Yan JiaYi. This would be the first time they met face to face after the farce that they had.

"How are you feeling?" Lang Yuan asked softly.

Yan JiaYi slowly recognized Lang Yuan as he blinked his eyes. He had been sleeping for so long that he thought this is just a dream. Slightly abashed, he tried to move his hand to reach out on that face. But it seems that his hands were weak that he could only raise it.

Lang Yuan could see his hand moving and wondered what the other person wanted to do. Well, he guessed Yan JiaYi only wanted to touch him so he made the move of holding his hand. Yan JiaYi was surprised by the warmth touching his skin and wondered if this is just a dream.

Ah, must be. Didn't Lang Yuan avoided him?

"Are you still dreaming?" Lang Yuan asked when he found the other guy smiling.

Yan JiaYi did not answer but the hum confirmed his thoughts. Lang Yuan made a smirk as he pinched the hand he was holding. It wasn't a strong pinch that would hurt the patient but the pain is enough to wake someone from the dream world. Yan JiaYi flinched when he felt the current-like feeling tingling his nerves.

"Oweee..." The youth groaned.

"Woken up yet?" Lang Yuan questioned.

"At least let me do it for a while," Yan JiaYi complained. "I never have a good dream once."

"Seeing that you are already fine then I think I should just go-"

But he has no plans on going. Yan JiaYi adjusted his position to have a good view. Lang Yuan assisted the patient by placing more pillows on his head while making the bed incline an angle. After the interaction, the peaceful room returned to silence.

If there is a noise, it should be from the machines that keep on beeping. These sounds that were created mechanically are the only supporting evidence that Yan JiaYi is alive. Lang Yuan is relieved to hear the constant beat, but there is still a hint of solemn sadness. After all, these machines were only meant for people who are in constant health dangers.

"I'm sorry," Yan JiaYi suddenly said breaking the silence. "I shouldn't have kept you in the dark. I hope you will forgive me..."

Lang Yuan shook his head.

"If there is anything to be said, that should be my gratitude to you. You saved me from danger despite your condition. I should be the one apologizing for taking your kindness for granted."

If Lang Yuan only accepted his pursuit, they could have become...

"It is still my fault," Yan JiaYi made a slight chuckle. "Even knowing my condition, I still hoped to get things on track. I have been selfish..."

One is arrogant while the other is greedy - they already know that it would be a weird combination to have the two. Lang Yuan no longer responded since he did not know what to say. Yan Jiayi is also a loss on what to do.

They all know that giving up ahead is better than running the track in a blind mess.

Lang Yuan watched the sorry figure of Yan Jiayi. He does not know how to coax people but he is aware of the other person's emotion. He pushed the rim of his eyeglasses up then relaxed his stiff posture. His eyes darted over to the vase above the side cabinet that is void of any flowers.

"I remember that you wanted me to give you chrysanthemums a long time ago..." Lang yuan is referring to that conversation about flowers. Yan Jiayi looked at him with a start.

"Honestly..." Lang Yuan hid his eyes behind the flash of his thick eyeglasses, then made a short hollow cough. "My initial thoughts when you said those words is you were asking for my virginity..."

The room suddenly became silent. Yan Jiayi stared at Lang Yuan with great concentration before his mind started working. A puff of smoke with a red face appeared on the young man's face as he was imagining that scene when Lang Yuan was lying half-naked on Dong Wei's bed.

He knows that it is wrong to think of "those" thoughts especially that it wasn't a good event. But seeing that erotic scene and Lang Yuan words by now...

"Look at your face now. You look very perverted," Lang Yuan commented.

"Wh-what?" Yan JiaYi reacted greatly. "Y-you were the one who first gave me the thought-"

"I am only being honest," Lang Yuan gave a 'you are very perverted' look that made Yan Jiayi blush more.

"Ah, okay listen to me! I didn't mean it in that way. I was only saying that if ever you give me flowers, please give me those. Not your- ah, that is my point-"

"I am willing," Lang Yuan interjected.

Yan Jiayi paused. "What?"

The quiet made the deaf hear. The clock that signals for the visiting hours to end resounded after a few minutes of stillness. Yan JiaYi is staring at Lang Yuan with mouth agape. Lang Yuan just shrugged off the funny expression made by the patient as he stood up.

"Anyways, it's already late. My brother is already on the lobby waiting for me," Lang Yuan said without any hint of stopping.

"We-wait a minute, hey listen to me," Yan JiaYi tried to reach out.

Lang Yuan stopped on whatever he is doing and gave Yan JiaYi a look. Yan JiaYi tried to collect his composure as he stared at the eyes behind Lang Yuan's frame. It seems that even in the next life, these eyes will always be the most beautiful for him.

"If ever..." Yan JiaYi thought of some memories that he got from his journey. There were no promises between them but he could recall what Lang Yuan said on that day. This might have come a bit earlier than he expected but at least he could lift the sorrow in his heart.

"If there is a time where you will need to choose between someone and me," Yan JiaYi swallowed his bitter feeling. "Please, don't choose me. Don't ever fell in love with me."

(A/N: I think this promise was said in chapter 11.2 or a few chapters further if I am not mistaken. Man, my memory is like a goldfish.)

Lang Yuan did not know what he meant but he looked at Yan JiaYi suspiciously. Yan JiaYi raises his hand as though surrendering. He looks like joking but those words held some solemn meaning. Lang Yuan shook his head as he finally realized that Yan JiaYi is a jerk.

A light-hearted laugh resounded inside the room before Lang Yuan gently closed the door. Seeing that the other person is already gone, the fleeting glint on Yan JiaYi's eyes quickly faded. His light is now gone. There is no more reason to be happy.

"I hope that he will not mind getting another request," he muttered.

He had done whatever thing that he could. This is now Lang Yuan's turn to discover things. Being transferred to the past and seeing Lang Yuan one last time, this feels like a dream. However, he knows that he could not borrow his old self's time for so long or else the events will not take place.

He has to play his final act before leaving the world of state.
