17.1 The True Hero

Lang Yuan is in a dark space.

Mother? Mother? Are you fine? Are you cold?

Mother, come here. I found something for you.

Mother, you see, the other day I...

No! Imperial Father is no good. Uncle is also no good. Just bring me instead!

He he he, Imperial Father said that I could have brothers...

Yawns, Mother won't leave me alone, right?

- There's a way for you to return to your world -

- The Rules states that only those who belonged in this world could stay -

- Would you like to stay here forever? -

- That's impossible though. Because you will never belong here -

"Yuan!"

Lang Yuan woke up when he heard somebody calling his name. Though, when he opened his eyes, he noticed the world is so blurry. He could still see objects but what he could recognize is the hazy outlines of bright colors. He squinted to wet his eyes but the blur remained. His hand subconsciously reached out for an object then wore it right just above his nose.

The first thing that he saw is flowers planted in square plots. It has a good combination of red and violet that seems to be vivid for just a plant. Beside the red-tinted flowers are some small yellow-petal flowers. Different from the latter, this flower seems to be huddled in a single bundle creating a bouquet of the same kind. It somehow showed an innocent picture that urges someone to look at it.

A few more flowers surrounded the background. Each of them has its characteristics - one is short while the other is long. Some flowers have pointy leaves while some have round and stubby. The variation of colors and shapes created a beautiful mural that anyone watching would want to praise it. Lang Yuan, on his daze state, thought that he wanted to share this scenery with...

With whom?

"Xiao Yuan?"

A figure who woke Lang Yuan up noticed the dazed expression of the youth. He was just cleaning the last batch of the flowers that will be put up in delivery when he found the boy sleeping on the corner. Giving the washed flower to the other worker, he motioned beside the youth as he slightly called him. He ruffled the bird's nest hair of his younger brother as he slightly massaged the neck of Lang Yuan.

"What's the matter?" Lang JunJie asked.

[A/N: For goodness sake, I've been looking for the names of LY brothers because I forgot to record them. There are only two Lang sibling that was introduced. Lang JunJie, which is the eldest, and Lang Lan Zhan the second... Yes, folks, the great me named him LANG LAN ZHAN. Ugh, back to the story]

Lang Yuan felt the familiar touch and leaned back to his brother. He removed his eyeglasses and rubbed his eyes slightly. JunJie found the yawning action of his little brother cute and let Lang Yuan lean unto him for a while. Lang Yuan restored his glasses and looked up to Lang JunJie.

"Are you done?" He asked.

"Almost," JunJie kept on ruffling the young man's hair. "Why are you thinking? You seem to be in a daze?"

"I just got a dream," Lang Yuan replied, yawning again. Small tears appeared on the corners of his eyes. He squinted to stop the water drop from falling.

"A dream? Was it good or bad?" Junjie probed further. Lang Yuan rarely shows this kind of character so he is ecstatic whenever this little brother opens up. Lang Yuan tilted his head slightly as if thinking, then he shook his head.

"Um... I can't remember clearly," Lang Yuan muttered with a doubt. "But I saw a small child. It seems to be calling me."

"Oh? Maybe your kid in the future?" Junjie teasingly nudged Lang Yuan and winked. Lang Yuan just rolled his eyes. He could still have kids in this state?

"Jun-ge, dreams never foretold the future. The images that you see are the people that you already saw-"

"Blah blah blah, enough with the facts. I don't want to hear anything about science or whatever," Junjie shrugged his shoulder as he stopped the little brother from blurting anything again. He knows that Lang Yuan will never believe in superficial things so it is better to stop him before he starts calculating some mumbo jumbo shits that only the geniuses can understand.

"I will be done after a while. Just wait in the counter. It's almost closing time so there will be no costumers coming."

JunJie shooed his little brother from the back room. Lang Yuan listened to his brother as he stood up and walked towards the counter. The backroom and the counter is only one room divided by a cabinet that is used to store plant seeds. This is the reason why Lang Yuan could still see the displayed flowers clearly despite sitting on the back.

A girl with curly hair is sitting on the other end of the counter. She is playing with her phone when she noticed Lang Yuan. JunJie had brought Lang Yuan in this shop a hundred times, so these two people recognized each other. The girl only looked up and nodded before returning to her game. Lang Yuan does not react whatsoever and sat on the free three-legged stools behind the counter.

The flower shop is void from any human voice. The only thing that you could hear is the slight buzzing of the insects, the humming of the air-conditioner, and a piece of lyric-less music coming from the shop's small stereo. The shop is enclosed with a glass wall so only light sounds from vehicles on the outside can only enter. Overall, the atmosphere is cool and peaceful, making the youth feel sleepy again.

The exams are coming and Lang Yuan had been studying late at night. It is only on this few times where he needs not to do anything that he could rest. Lang Yuan propped his one arm to the table and leaned on it. Slowly, his eyes dropped down until his head slid down to his hand and slumped to the desk. Though, the fall is only light so Lang Yuan didn't wake up.

The metal strips on the door clang softly when the door opened. A tall man in a black business suit entered the shop and turned to look at the displayed flowers on the rack. The girl on the counter stopped playing her game and stood up to serve the customer. Closing hours are only a few minutes away. It seems that this person just made it before the time is up.

"Sir, what flower would you like to buy?" The girl carried a pen and notepad to write the costumer's demands. However, the moment she looked up, she was surprised to see a handsome face. The tall man only showed a face of indifference but this image is enough to show his charm.

It almost made her kneel and ask him for marriage!

"I don't know a lot about flowers. What can you recommend...?" The man noticed that the girl only kept on staring at him. Her hands stopped moving and a drool seems to drop from the corner of her mouth. "Um... hello?"

"Eh? Ah? Ah! Um... please excuse me, sir. I-I will call the manager!" The girl hurriedly ran away before the blood on her nose could flow. She opened the small door on the counter then walked inside at an amazing speed. On her departure, she accidentally bumped unto the sleeping Lang Yuan that flinched upon the contact.

The tall man was left behind with an unreadable face. He looked at the flowers with a gaze then shifted it towards the youth on the counter. His face suddenly showed a frown upon thinking that this employee is sleeping on working hours. Did he not know that he should be awake to answer the questions of the customer? Also, even if he is just a part-timer, he should not slack off.

He walked towards the counter to talk with the lazy employee when suddenly he halted on his steps. Lang Yuan just sat up straight with a slight yawn. The haziness coming from his half-lidded eyes showed his drowsiness, somehow giving off a soft and cuddly feeling. The man could not help but to watch the youth rub his eyes as he adjusted the crooked eyeglasses.

When Lang Yuan shook his head to wake his self up, he noticed a shadow standing on the ground. It is just now that he realized that there's another person inside the shop. He first looked on the side but didn't find the girl. He then shifted his head forward and found the man staring at him. He-

Like the man, Lang Yuan also was stuck. The moment their eyes met, a strange feeling quickly invaded their minds. It is as if this meeting is not their first, that they had known each other for a long time. The tall man suddenly showed a gentle smile as he paced towards the counter. Lang Yuan, for the first time, did not break eye contact with the man.

Yes, he should always look at his eyes, as what he commanded.

But... who is he?

"Ahem," the tall man cleared his throat. He lightly straightened his suit, trying to make a good first impression before Lang Yuan. "The flowers... could I take it home?"

What he wanted to say is 'could I take you home?'

"Ah? Um..." Lang Yuan dazedly muttered. "W-what flower?"

"Well, what could you suggest?" He answered with a smile. How about taking you?

"Ah... to whom will you give the flowers?" Lang Yuan fiddled around the counter to take a list. He had already memorized the names of the flowers but somehow he suddenly can't remember any names. He placed the folder with stacks of pictures and names inside and flipped it open.

"I'm not sure. I never planned on giving one into someone," the tall man said honestly. Lang Yuan stopped his clumsy flipping and looks up to look at the man's smile. Then, why did he enter a flower shop? Some window-shopping?

The man seems to read Lang Yuan thoughts and sneakily leaned unto the counter to lessen the distance between them. He pretended to look at the folder Lang Yuan is flipping and made a frown. Lang Yuan is still looking at him and feeling their distance getting closer. He pushed the rim of his glasses up and swallowed the lump in his throat.

"This mister... why did you-"

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience, what would our customer want-"

The manager that was called is very jolly as always. He is still a few steps away but his loud voice already disturbed the couple. That's why when he arrived on the scene; he was surprised to see Lang Yuan talking with the customer. The manager knows what kind of kid Lang Yuan is so he was elated when he found him talking with a customer.

"Oh, it seems that you were taken good care off," the manager walked around the counter to come face to face with the man. He gave Lang Yuan a wink, telling him good job. Lang Yuan lightly lowered his head to hide a blush. The tall man raised his brows when he saw the cute action of the young man.

The manager started talking about flowers, and flowers, and more flowers. The tall man looks listening to him but his attention is on the youth towards the counter. After a while, another man from the back door touched Lang Yuan's shoulder and patted him intimately. His brows creased with discontent when he found the youth happily speaking with the other person.

The manager noticed the silence of the costumer so he looks at the tall man to ask if he has any questions. But he found the tall man looking at the counter, staring at the pair of siblings with hot eyes. The manager tried to answer why the man is looking at them but he can't seem to know.

"Sir? Did he do something that offended you?" The manager asked.

"Hmm? Um, no, actually he is quite approachable. Who is he?" The tall man forgot to ask the youth his name. The comfortability between them had reached to the point that they need not know each other's name to keep company.

"That guy? Ah, he is Jun's younger brother. He is not an employee here, just hanging around to help sometimes," the manager shrugged his shoulders. "He rarely comes to help since he became a college student."

"What is he doing here now? He needed money?" The tall man seems to be very interested with Lang Yuan.

The manager wanted to tell him the answer but it was a personal reason. Lang Yuan is here because he wanted to buy someone a couple of flowers. But since he has no money and doesn't want to ask one from his parents, he'd rather want to help a little to get it.

The man seems to realize that he is stepping over the boundary so he took a step back and apologized. This time, the tall man listened to the manager seriously as he names the flowers. On the other side, Lang JunJie already finished his shift and changed his clothes. He is carrying a small bouquet with a blue hue as the theme. Lang Yuan took the bouquet and stared at it for a while.

"This isn't what I asked," Lang Yuan said. As what he can remember, he only asked a few stalks of the cheapest flowers inside the shop. This one is somewhat expensive.

"Hmmm? You're giving it to that Yan classmate, right? Would you want to give a sick person a cheap flower?" Junjie asked.

"Ah... well," Lang Yuan felt a bit embarrassed.

Well, he already thought that no matter what things he gives to Yan JiaYi, as long as it is from him, the other person would surely be happy. But giving him good flowers is not bad at all ah! That person will surely cry blood the moment sees such a heartwarming gift.

"C'mon, let's go. I'll give you a ride to the hospital before I go to my next work," Junjie tossed a helmet towards Lang Yuan. The youth caught it.

The two bid farewell to the manager before they left. Lang Yuan took a last glance towards the tall man. The other person felt the gaze and turned around to look at Lang Yuan. They stared at each other for a while before the tall man made a smile. Lang Yuan nodded as if telling the man that he'll be going.

The tall man watched as Lang Yuan climb up to the back of the scooter. Junjie asked the little brother if he is sitting comfortably before starting the machine. He stepped on the pedal and the scooter started moving away. He followed the figure of the brothers until they are gone after turning in a corner.

The manager finished listing whatever the man needed. After the transaction, the tall man gave his business card and left. The manager flipped the sign on the door and went inside to stretch for a while. He realized that he is still holding the business card.

"Hmmm... whoa, he's a big shot!" The manager exclaimed. "So he is that so-called Emperor of the business industry. Amazing!"

The manager praised Lang Yuan. Since that person arrived in his shop, good things started to happen. The luck of that person is great, making his flower business prosper. He thought of giving Lang Yuan a gift the next time he visits. The manager reaches out for the metal sliding door and closed the shop in a shut.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to clarify some things if ever you are confused. Lang JunJie has been working on this flower shop as a permanent employee. Though, he also takes a few more part-time jobs. He always brings Lang Yuan here since LY's High school before is just around the corner. Even now that he has been going to university, LY's still comes to help.

Besides, LY's knowledge about flowers also came from here. Remember that time when Yan JiaYi asked LY why he knows a lot about the language of flowers? LY said that because he studied it, but the real reason is that he has been hanging around the flower shop. This is also the reason why LY was able to create a flower arrangement on the first trial since he also helps inside the shop.

Well, I explained that LY knows flower arrangement because he read it from a book. But Actually, he has the basic skills so he was able to apply it. LY is too OP to do things properly on the first try, huh.

Still, I am bothered with the second brother. Why did I name him as Lang Lan Zhan? Ha ha ha, I must have been too drowned with MDZS that I could not think of any names and just wrote it out of whim. Hahahaha

Yay! I Updated!
