MY NO. 1 FAVES Guys the first time I read the Silmarilion, I was a Doriath stan through and through. I don't know what it was that drew me, but Doriath was The STUFF. It still does and will always hold a special place in my heart. So here we have a recent draft of Beleg, Mablung, Lúthien, and Daeron being all happy and stuff. Maybe one day I'll actually do a decent drawing of it.

So Doriath was my favorite place, and for a while, Thingol was my favorite character. Loved him. He was the best character. Looking back, I don't know what drew me to him. I guess it might have been because he and Melian are two of the first characters any depth is given to and I just latched onto them. I drew them a bunch when I was younger, but that was when I was still heavily influenced by PJ's simple-elegant, version of Third Age elves. I'd always draw Thingol in a long, one-piece silver gray robe (kinda like Thranduil's) and his hair would be slicked right back.

A piece from 2015 or 2014. I was experimenting with stuff and tried sort of fold out drawings so we have Beleg and Mablung here too.

Getting a bit more fancy

Initially, I pictured Melian with blonde hair. I'd draw her with a green overdress and blue underdress in a really stereotypical medieval design.

A trip to Wikipedia and I find that my beloved Melian is dark haired and clad in silver and white. O.O. As soon as I got my head around that, I drew her with pretty much the same design, but a silver overdress and white underdress with black borders on every hem. And my design stayed like that for a while.

So I went through some old sketchbooks and lemme tell ya, the nostalgia was STRONG. *shuddery sigh* Alll my old OCs *sniff*. Among the juvenile superhero attempts (which were pretty cool actually), I of course found stuff like this

Ahhh, memories. (You might notice a shift in the way I drew people and proportions and that's because at máche once year, probably 2015, I found a book called drawing manga and comic book characters and that thing changed my lIfe)

I always tended to give Mablung more armor and Beleg more huntery clothing because I thought Mablung was more a captain of the guard at Menegroth and Beleg was, as we all know, a woodsman, but I got that sort of mixed up.. Mablung was captain of the hunters, not the guard. So I guess Beleg would be wearing more armor.

Maxed out my image limit. This part was supposed to be about my oldest art but my sketchbooks are all whack and I didn't put dates and can only try and guess based on art development. So you saw some better ones here, you might see some worse ones later who knows how it's going to work? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . I'll post another bit with decidedly recent art and my redesigns. Also, I'd like to do a part with more old silm art with more general characters, and also one with my old OCs and stuff because I'd forgotten how much I loved them.
