EXT. SCHOOL COURTYARD – A MINUTE LATER

EBONY runs up to LOLA who is sitting on a stone seat, dripping wet. Lola has tears in her eyes, and is staring blankly in front of her, eyes puffy and red. Ebony reaches her, breathless from running. Ebony sits down next to her and puts a comforting hand on her shoulder.

EBONY

Hey.

Lola breaks down in tears. Ebony wraps her arms around her.

EBONY

Oh, it's ok, it will be alright, your fine.

They sit in an embrace for a moment. Once they separate, Lola takes a deep breath and wipes her eyes with the back of her hand. Ebony gives her a comforting smile.

EBONY

There is no shame in being upset,

Lola. We have all been through it.

Even though boys can be horrible

sometimes and treat you terribly,

they can still break your heart.

LOLA

I feel like he is not even worth

it though. I don't want to be crying

over him, but here I am.

EBONY

Maybe that's a good thing. If you

think that, then you might be ready

to move on and you don't even

realise it.

LOLA

I-I. . . maybe I am ready to move

on. I never thought of it like

that. I need to stand up to

myself and finally move on.

EBONY

Yes, you're absolutely right.

He hurt you Lola, he doesn't

deserve any of your time.

LOLA

Exactly, but at the same time,

I can't help thinking about him.

He was so sweet you know? He was

always right there, and then

he went and – and ... cheated.

EBONY

Which is exactly why you

should forget about him. Once

a cheater always a cheater

right?

LOLA

Yes. Thank you Ebs, I don't know

 what I would do without you. You're so

 smart. I just need to let him go. I don't

want to cry any more.

'no tears left to cry' begins to play. Lola and Ebony dance in the rain as they sing it together. Their happy, they don't need no man.

Song ends. The rain stops. Ebony turns to Lola.

EBONY

Hey so I was thinking, do

you want to go to the mall

tonight? 

Lola's eyes light up.

LOLA

Um, yeah! Of course, is

that even a question?

They laugh and walk off back to class.
