it was morning now in the lands of paradis. the sound of a rifle boomed in the air as two jagerists toppled over, dead.
"that's the last of the pursuers, levi." they said while uncovering her comrade from the camouflage of the grass. deciding that the two would be hidden in the forest for awhile, hange began to collect various sticks, rocks, leaves, anything to help the current situation. they soon set up a tent and even got a good sized fire going.
after laying levi comfortably in the grass, they quickly began to start stitching his gashed face.
"everyone got turned into titans and only you survived. probably for the same reason you're not dead yet: because you're an ackerman." they worked diligently and precisely despite being in a place not ideal for medical attention.
"but what do we do now? we can't stop zeke anymore, so it's up to armin or commander pyxis." although unsure if he could hear them, they continued to talk to themselves more so than to levi.
"we'll be fugitives for the rest of our lives even if eren betrays zeke." clutching their head, they sighed. "what do you say we live out here forever? huh, levi? y/n can live with us too. just the three of us like before..."
"i hope they're oka—" it was before hange could finish their sentence that their mind had miraculously flashed some sort of vision. "no way...! eren's gonna...?! levi!"
they turned to look at the said person only to find him already sitting up.
"the beast... where'd the shithead go?"
"lay back down!" they gripped his shoulders, forcing him to lay down again. after discussing what happened and what to do, the two ultimately decided to try and side with marleyans to put an end to eren's plan of genocide.
the sun started to set as hange decided that tying cloths around the surrounding trees would help find their camp site after the two patrol around. while doing so, levi spoke.
"don't you... pity me?"
pausing what they were doing, they turned to levi with an confused expression. "why would i pity you, levi? you're my friend."
silence engulfed the pair before hange spoke again. "if you're talking about y/n... i'm sorry."
levi remained silent.
"i never thought that things would turn out like this... everything's just so confusing." they ran their fingers through their hair. "look, i don't pity you. i never did. sure, i thought 'wow levi really missed out' ... just kidding." they lightly laughed.
"i love y/n so much and it honestly felt like i was betraying you in a way when we became official. but maybe it's time for you to make this right with y/n again. honestly, it's been four years. the tension between you two has been suffocating these past years, if you haven't noticed."
narrowing his eyes, he watched hange dust off their pants and continue to tie various fabrics around tree trunks.
"let's get to patrolling, levi. like old times"
