Forty-Nine: Skylord Kal

The party on Skyhold went on after dark. It had to by around nine or ten when Logan realized Thalia had disappeared. He looked around the Great Hall fills with laughing and dancing Skylords and recruits, but it was certain. She wasn't there.
He looked back to Sky. "Sorry, I haven't seen her." He said in response to his question.
Sky hummed in disappointment. "Well, if you see her, tell her to meet me in the light room in the bell tower."
Logan sighed as Sky walked away, knowing exactly where she had gone. It had started to drizzle rain outside, and Logan grabbed a cloak off the wall. His clothes had already dried and he didn't like the idea of getting wet again. He walked out of the Hall and across the road, then to the cathedral. There she was.
Thalia had fallen asleep leaning against the gravestone that had been set to honor her father. Her blanket was still wrapped around her shoulders. Logan sighed and knelt down beside her in the damp grass. "Hey..." He said quietly.
She stirred slightly, but only awoke when he shook her shoulder gently. She looked at him and sighed. "What time is it...?" She asked.
Logan smiled sadly. "Ten-ish." He said. "You okay?"
"Yeah, of course." Thalia stretched, drawing her blanket in closer to her.
    "You mean that?"
"Mm hmm..." Thalia smiled a little. "What's up, ginger?"
"Sky was looking for you." Logan said. "He said he wants you to meet him in the light room in the bell tower."
Thalia nodded. "Something's up in the bell tower. The light in the light room is never supposed to me on. It's a Skylord tradition. That means someone who isn't a Skylord was in there..."
Logan blinked. "You think it might be a squid?"
Thalia nodded. "It's definitely possible. I think I should be careful... Can you come with me?"
Logan nodded. "Sure, but I left my staff in the Hall."
Thalia stood up. "It's alright." She pulled her sword out of its sheath and the assassin's pistol that she taken as her own to him. She smirked. "I got us covered."
Logan breathed out nervously and followed her to the tower. Thalia pushed open the door quietly and walked up the stairs to the top floor, shooting a glare at Logan as he made a wooden stair creak under his weight. She took a deep breath at the closed door and nodded for Logan to go first.
He nodded back and held up the gun and pushed through. "Don't move!" He shouted.
The girl in the room gasped and Sky stepped in front of her. "Keyes!"
"No no don't point it, just hold it ready!" Thalia shouted. She ran after him and grabbed his wrist, pointing the pistol at the floor. Logan accidentally shot a hole in the floorboards in alarm. "And get your finger off the trigger, moron!"
Thalia looked up at Sky nervously. "Sorry... I-I thought we should take some precautions..."
Sky sighed. "That was almost a good move. Just next time, bring along a more suitable partner..." He shot a glare at Logan who smiled sheepishly.
The girl Sky had been so ready to take a bullet for peered over his shoulder. She had tan skin, tanner than Thalia's, and dark brown eyes. Her hair was black and long, curly and in a braid behind her back. She wore a blue dress, and looked completely unharmed. She must have been in her mid twenties by the look of her.
    "Who's this then?" Thalia asked.
Sky cleared his throat awkwardly, looking away. The girl smiled a little. "Marietta." She said.
"Thalia." Thalia said. "And this is Logan."
"Your accent, is it Italian?" Logan asked curiously.
Sky laughed a little. Thalia scrunched up her nose. "What?"
"Nothing, nothing..." Sky said. "It's just that you two have no idea who you're talking to."
Thalia blinked in confusion, and Marietta explained. "I am the princess of Roma."
Thalia hesitated, staring at her. "...No way."
Logan covered his mouth with a hand. "I almost shot the heir of Roma..."
Sky smiled a little at the pair. "I lied to you, Thalia, when I told you I didn't know why the squids were attacking Skyhold. They wanted her. They have started to attack the people of Roma. In response, we have decided to form a treaty with the city, as a way to protect them. We were going to form a treat with Skyhold too. And we are still."
"...Why are you telling me this, sir?" Thalia asked. "It wasn't necessary for me to meet the princess, or for me to be told she was ever here."
"Yes, I quite agree." Sky said. "But... Marietta insisted."
"Insisted on meeting me?" Thalia asked. "But... Ma'am, why?"
"You were recommended to me by Skylord Lysander." Marietta explained. "He described to me your performance during the battle and I agreed with his idea."
    "Idea...?" Thalia asked.
Marietta looked to Sky. "Commander, may I?"
Sky nodded and pulled out his sword, handing it to the princess by the hilt. Marietta looked back to Thalia. "Take a knee."
Thalia's eyes widened in alarm, expecting no less than a beheading or something. "Wh-What?!" She looked at Sky, who nodded in reassurance. Thalia relaxed at the look. She looked back at Marietta and held up a hand to stop Logan from speaking, which she knew he would. She lowered her head and slowly bent down on one knee.
"For your act of disobeying a direct order for the good of Skyhold. For your ability to lead and fight worthy of a leader. For your honor of Skylord traditions and for the laws of succession set in place - and for your father." She lifted the sword, gently placing the flat of the blade on Thalia's head. "You shall now, and forever more, be known as Skylord Thalia Kal."
Logan's jaw dropped. Thalia looked up in shock as Marietta moved the sword away and handed it back to Sky. The princess smiled down at her. "Of course, you will need to choose the city you wish to patron yourself."
Thalia hesitated speechlessly, then looked at the Commander. Sky nodded again, knowing exactly what she was thinking. Thalia looked back to Marietta and smiled. "...Farpoint."
Marietta nodded, smiling as well. "Then stand Skylord Thalia Kal, patron of Farpoint." Thalia stood back up. "You have done well. I expect great things..."
Thalia smiled wide, then turned to look at Logan. "Skylord." She said. "I'm a Skylord now."
Logan smiled a bit. "But... What does that mean? Will you stay at the base still?"
Thalia looked at Sky. "If you'll have me, sir. I think I'd like to continue my apprenticeship."
Sky smirked. "Permission granted, Skylord Kal."
Thalia grinned and turned out, walking away to tell the team. "God, I love the sound of that."
Marietta watched her go, staring after her calmly once the ginger had followed. "Mi ricorda de Void."
Sky smiled. "Oui." He agreed quietly.
