The space cat café
When supplies were needed again (Y/n) tagged along as usual, happy to be able to go out and do something with her favorite person in the whole universe, Thace. She couldn't wait to see what the Earth store had in stock; she hoped to find more snacks of some kind and maybe some books or something for her to read. The young woman enjoyed spending time with Thace as much as possible, especially since he began going out on simple missions where he didn't have to worry about being gone for too long like before and she didn't worry about him being killed. (Y/n) made sure she looked nice before she and Thace joined Kolivan and Regris in the pod bay, the four of them riding in a small shuttle to the space mall together. She still enjoyed looking at all the stars during the long trip, spotting the occasional planet or moon on the way to their destination.
And, as usual, (Y/n) went with Thace while Regris followed Kolivan to the highest level of the mall where they would get some random supplies. Thace and (Y/n) were in charge of shopping for various kinds of food and a few other things such as laundry soap, shampoo and hydration packs. As they walked along the lower level of the mall (Y/n) noticed posters for what appeared to be a new store opening, one that looked a lot like a cat café. A cat café was something the young woman had wanted to go to ever since she first heard about them when she was a child; she knew there were a lot of alien animals in the universe but she didn't know there were domestic alien cats. Thace noticed the posters too, but he didn't think much of them since going to a new café wasn't on his mind during that particular moment.
"Aww, look at them! They're so cute." (Y/n) said when she and Thace passed by the cat café; she stopped walking so she could stand in front of the window so she could look at all the different cats who were lounging inside the new establishment.
"Would you like to go in?" Thace asked (Y/n) jokingly, but when he saw how she was staring inside of the café he felt bad for joking about it.
"Can we?" (Y/n) questioned when she turned to face him, looking up at him with a starry-eyed look; she was excited at just the thought of spending time with a bunch of adorable space kitties.
"Yes. We have a little time to spare." Thace answered with a genuine tone, gesturing to the glass door of the café.
(Y/n) let out a short squeal of excitement before she followed Thace to the door, walking in when he opened it like the gentlemen he was. As soon as they walked in most of the cats looked at them, a few of them meowing as a neutral greeting; the cats looked similar to the ones on Earth, although they had various colored markings that regular cats didn't have. Since the café was one where people could just walk into Thace and (Y/n) didn't have to worry about making reservations prior to checking it out. When the hostess saw them walk in she walked out from behind the counter so she could greet them, a pleasant smile on her face; Thace stood right behind (Y/n), that way she knew he was there for her. Being around strangers still made (Y/n) feel a little nervous, so having Thace with her helped her to stay calm.
"Welcome to Chi's; I'm your hostess, Suldu. How may I assist you?" Suldu inquired politely once she was standing a few feet away from Thace and (Y/n), greeting them just as she did with every customer.
"We're just here to see the cats, if that's alright." Thace replied, glancing down at (Y/n) while smiling.
"Ah, yes, that's alright. Just let me know if I can help you and your girlfriend with anything." Suldu responded with a friendly tone before she went to go assist some of the other customers, giving Thace and (Y/n) permission to spend time with the cats.
Once they were alone they walked over to a two person seat and sat down, watching as some of the cats nearby casually walked over to them; a light blush dusted the human woman's face when she had been referred to as Thace's girlfriend, but she didn't mind. (Y/n) reached her right/left hand out so the cats could smell it while Thace just sat there, not moving since he didn't want to scare any of the cats away; he wasn't used to being around animals, so the experience was somewhat new to him. The cats in the café were descendants of altean cats who once were the companions of the people who lived on Altea ten thousand years ago, but just like their homeworld the original altean cats were all gone. (Y/n) happily welcomed a dark gray cat who had blue stripes when he hopped up on her lap, petting the adorable feline who began purring happily from the attention she gave him. As she lightly rubbed the cat's chin with her fingertips of one hand and gently rubbed the other down his back she felt as though all her stress completely disappeared.
Meanwhile, as soon as a black and red cat jumped up onto Thace's right shoulder and made herself comfortable some of the others came to inspect the galran man. Thace sat perfectly still despite having so many cats rubbing against him while purring, especially the one who claimed his shoulder as hers. When a longhaired white and red cat sat on his lap, looked him in the eye and meowed, Thace broke; he couldn't stop himself from purring along with the cats while petting both of the ones who were sitting on him. (Y/n) couldn't help but smile while she watched Thace interact with the cats who were sitting on him, especially since so many seemed to be drawn to him. She got to pet more of the cats who came to see them, amazed by how soft and fluffy their fur felt to the touch.
"They really like you." (Y/n) said in awe, thinking it was super cute how most of the cats in the café congregated around Thace.
"It appears so. All I did was sit here and they all just keep coming, normally animals don't like me this much." Thace answered with confusion, a slight smile tugging at his lips as he continued petting as many cats as possible.
"Well then you must be special; at least that's what I think." (Y/n) replied while smiling up at him; she really liked Thace and seeing how much the cats in the café liked him she definitely knew she was in love with him.
"You think I'm special?" Thace queried with a soft tone, looking down at her with a low-key shocked expression; he knew she liked him, but he didn't know to what extent.
"Y-yeah, of course I do." (Y/n) stammered as she blushed, averting her gaze since she felt flustered after what she just admitted.
After what (Y/n) said Thace wondered if she liked him as more than a friend or not, although he'd been wondering that for a long time. He turned his attention back to the cats when they started meowing again while rubbing themselves against him more, all of them wanting his attention. He and (Y/n) eventually ordered something off of the menu to eat since they were getting hungry, although it was a little difficult for Thace to eat because of all the cats who wanted his attention; to (Y/n), it appeared that he attracted them like a magnet. Spending time at the cat café was a lot of fun for both of them and (Y/n) was sad when they had to leave, but Thace promised her that if they ever had the chance to go there again, they would. The rest of the shopping trip was a little boring, but after spending time with Thace and a bunch of cats (Y/n) was satisfied by how well the day went.
