When the paladins came for an important meeting at the main Marmoran headquarters Pidge pulled (Y/n) aside so she could give her a small device that she barely recognized; it was a laser pointer cat toy, although Pidge wanted (Y/n's) help with a little experiment that she couldn't do in the castle of lions due to the lack of full-blooded galra living with them. Galra looked a lot like cats and Pidge wanted to know if they reacted to cat toys, and after listening to her hypothesis (Y/n) wanted to know if they did too or not. She naturally agreed to help the young paladin with her experiment and promised to contact her after gathering the information she needed. After the paladins left the base (Y/n) decided to do the experiment the next day; the test subject in question was naturally Thace because he was the one she was around the most, giving her the perfect opportunity to put the laser pointer to the test. (Y/n) didn't feel at all guilty about using Thace as a test subject without his knowledge, it wasn't like she was hurting him or anything, plus if he found out then he would probably think the little experiment was cute.

However, for the experiment to work successfully it would be best if he didn't know about it until afterwards, if she told him what she was doing then he probably wouldn't react the way she needed him to. After (Y/n) helped put the dishes in the dishwasher in the main kitchen she noticed Thace heading towards one of the training decks, that's when she decided to officially begin the experiment. She followed far enough behind her test subject that he wouldn't notice her, but not so far back that she couldn't use the laser pointer; she had to suppress a giggle when she shined it on a wall ahead of them for a couple of seconds because Thace stopped in his tracks for a little while, looking utterly confused when he saw a mysterious red dot appear and disappear. (Y/n) could tell Thace might have wanted to catch the dot when he saw it based on his stance and the way his ears perked up, unfortunately she wasn't going to give him the chance to chase it around yet. When Thace began walking again so did she, that way she knew exactly which training deck her fluffy friend was going to.

On the way to his destination Thace felt a little unnerved, first a tiny red dot appeared on one of the hallway walls before it disappeared a couple of ticks later, he'd never seen anything like it before. Living back in the main Marmoran headquarters was nice because he didn't have to worry about being killed anymore and it was especially nice that (Y/n) got to live with him, she seemed to be adjusting well to her new home. Someday when the universe became a safer place he wanted to court her, assuming that someone else didn't attempt to woo her before he did; he'd seen some of the younger operatives checking her out, he was grateful (Y/n) smelled like him and no one tried anything because of it. In order to keep their skills sharp during their vacations some of the Blades who'd been out on long missions enjoyed sparring from time to time, Thace was going to be sparring against Antok when the second in command finished helping Kolivan in his office. He passed a few of the other operatives on his way to the first training deck, so he didn't even notice (Y/n) following him like a sneaky little gremlin.

Thace didn't mind waiting a few doboshes for Antok to arrive, it would give him some time to stretch and go at it with the punching bag in the back right corner of the room. Once (Y/n) made sure no one was around to see her she hid behind the wall right next to the doorway and peeked in, grinning mischievously when she saw Thace facing away from her. She pointed the laser pointer to the wall he was facing and turned it on by pressing the pad of her thumb against the little button, causing the red dot to appear. Thace nearly jumped out of his casual training bodysuit when he saw the red dot appear out of nowhere and (Y/n) nearly laughed out loud when she saw him jump back, the way his fur puffed up reminded her of a cat who got a little too excited over something new. The young woman bit her bottom lip hard when she moved the laser pointer from side to side, watching as Thace turned his head from side to side just to watch it.

“What the quiznak?” Thace whispered while watching the red dot on the wall, not once taking his eyes off of it for even a second in fear of it disappearing again.

(Y/n) covered her mouth with her one free hand prior to making the red dot go in circles, then in a zigzag while Thace watched it dance across the wall. The hardest part of the experiment was trying not to laugh or make a single sound, especially when he started attempting to chase the dot around. Pidge would be pleased when (Y/n) gave her the results of the experiment, the knowledge would come in handy when the paladins had to infiltrate a galra base full of soldiers. However, right as (Y/n) was having the time of her life by making Thace chase the dot Keith turned the corner and spotted her doing something suspicious; originally he was looking for Regris, although he was surprised to find (Y/n) peering into the first training deck. (Y/n) was so busy playing with Thace that she didn't hear Keith's footsteps approaching her, alas her fun would have to come to an end because of Keith's undying curiosity.

“What are you doing?” Keith asked (Y/n) once he stood right behind her, causing the poor woman to let out a frightened yelp and nearly drop the laser pointer.

“Keith! What are you doing here?!” (Y/n) whisper-yelled when she spun around to face the paladin turned Blade, feeling as though she got caught with her hand in the cookie jar.

“I could ask you the same thing. Why are you sneaking around with a laser pointer?” Keith responded, giving her a pointed look after he noticed the cat toy she was holding in her right/left hand.

“I- I-” (Y/n) tried to explain without it sounding worse than it was, she could feel herself begin to sweat while she tried to come up with something; Thace was startled when the red dot disappeared, then he heard (Y/n) and Keith's voices coming from right outside of the training room, (Y/n) didn't even get the chance to tell Keith what she'd really been doing.

“What are you two doing out here?” Thace questioned when he saw Keith and (Y/n) standing there, a smirk playing across his lips since he knew they were up to something.

“I was just looking for Regris.” Keith answered, not feeling at all guilty for being caught because he wasn't the one doing anything suspicious.

“It's a long story… I'm just gonna go now, I'll see you later.” (Y/n) answered awkwardly, sputtering out an excuse before she turned around and quickly walked away, feeling completely embarrassed after getting caught.

Thace and Keith just stood there, watching as (Y/n) walked away as quickly as she could; Thace felt even more confused than Keith did about her reaction. A few ticks later Thace told Keith where Regris was and Keith thanked him before he left; he and Regris had to go look for a piece of tech in the storage room that Kolivan needed for something, with the amount of stuff in the storage room it would be a two person job. It wasn't long before Antok showed up so he and Thace could spar, even the larger man was confused about (Y/n's) strange behavior after Thace mentioned it. To them, some human behavior was incredibly strange and it confused them, but Thace had to admit that (Y/n) was pretty cute when she got flustered. (Y/n) eventually told Thace what she had been doing earlier and they had a good laugh about it, even Thace had to admit laser pointers were good distractions for unsuspecting galra soldiers.
