Soldier X Male! Reader (Independence Day Special! Over 4k Words)
This is a long story... And title XD
And if you dislike America, don't be offended by anything in here. Seriously, ticks me off when haters are like 'murica suck yer all idiot'
That's not even proper grammar, it is so FREAKIN ANNOYING THAT I FEEL LIKE FLIPPING A TABLE---
Anyways... Different POV and a male reader!
This is going to be interesting... But I don't plan on doing too many of these in the future. I had a hard time remembering this was a male reader, so please don't hesitate to point out may mistakes!
I also forget who requested this. But still, I got your request done, so slap my hand!
*Spy holds up his hand*
Also, don't forget to play the music above at the specific time! There won't be a reminder, but I think you'll know when to play it. Also for some reason I can't add more than one video, so there will be a video down there somewhere for you to play. ^3^ (there's one inappropriate part in the 'Murica' video though, so if you're under aged then I suggest not watching it >,< )
You don't have to play the videos though, just a suggestion to make your lovey dovey experience better! <3 •3-
I twirled the rose he gave me in my hand, smiling, a faint hint of red evident on my cheeks. I studied the intricate details, every delicate petal, every spiky thorn. I thought of what he said when he gave it to me, about how every rose has its thorn, but it's easy to look past those and see the true beauty inside. Does he like me as more than a friend? Well, that much is obvious. Was he implying that although he has flaws, and we're both men, that I should see past that to see his inner 'beauty'?
....maybe I'm just overthinking it..
I set the sweet smelling flower in my locker, grabbing out my (melee weapon) and (other weapon). I was (class name), and I had just joined in late June, and had immediately became best buds with Soldier. Why, you ask? He's not only manly, but he has a stomach for beer! Beer contest? Solly always wins! But... Then he ends up puking later on. But still, I find that really adorable.
My cheeks reddened even more at the thought of the man. Adorable? The more I thought about it, the more I came to the conclusion that I liked Soldier as more than a friend. So what if we're both men? So what if we both have flaws?
After all, every rose has its thorns.
I looked at the small rose one last time, and shut the locker with a small click.
"Twenty seconds until battle!!"
The announcers voice boomed through the speakers, and I ran to the respawn room as fast as I could. On my way there, as I ran through the long halls, I passed Soldier, who flashed me a smile. I tried to hide my reddening face, looking away and running faster. After earliers thoughts, I couldn't look at Soldier the same until I told him. Steady sounds of footfall sounded behind me and I looked back to see Scout running by.
"Come on, (class nic)!" He called as he passed. "Battles gunna start without us!" He left me in the dust, as a frantic mess.
I soon caught up with Scout, who was leaning on the doorway. I bent down and rested my hands on my knees, hunched over, gasping for breath.
"How... How do you run so fast?" I managed to ask.
"Heh, you learn to run fast as da runt in a huge family- gotta always get to da dinnah table first." He replied with a chuckle. I opened my mouth to say something else, but was cut off before I could say anything.
"Ten seconds until battle!!"
"Come on, chucklenuts! Let's show these BLU's how it's done!" He ran into respawn with his bat raised and war cries of men could be heard inside as he rallied them up.
I chuckled fondly. Typical Scout, getting everyone fired up before a battle.
A firm hand on my shoulder made me jump, and I looked back to see Soldier.
"Jumpy today, are we?" He teased. I instantly beamed at him, laughing at his little tease. Why am I acting so weird around him? First I become a tomato, now a light bulb? I shook the thoughts off, looking back at Soldier.
"Yeah, kinda. I guess just apprehensive of something, something that's been on my mind for awhile..." I wanted to scream it out loud, to get it off my chest. I love you soldier! But... I couldn't. I had to make it special. I'm pretty sure the feelings are mutual... Why else would he give me a rose?
"Well, I'm sure you'll get over it. You'll be fine in the end, private." I sported a fake smile then, really frowning on the inside. Of course it's not going to be ok! I have to tell someone that I love them- and the same gender too! What... What will my mom think? Y'know what, with these thoughts I'm getting nowhere! I mentally kicked myself, and tuned back into reality.
"Sure.." I said with fake enthusiasm.
Soldier leaned towards me and hugged me. He then broke away, looking at me with his eyes of steel while squeezing my shoulder, then let go and went into respawn. My face went red, and it took me a second to control my emotions before entering respawn.
Soon, the battle started.
"Let's, do iiiiiitttttt!"
"Give 'em hell, boys!"
"Huddah huddahhhhhh!"
The war cries of my teammates filled the air as we rushed out of respawn.
Hearing the war cries of my teammates filled me with DETERMINATION.

For the most part, the battle went smoothly. Our team was losing though, and we needed a good battle tactic to turn the tables- in our favor.
Soldier slid a box over in front of us men, and pulled out a pointer. He then pulled up an old dusty chalkboard, and drew something on it. All of us sat confused, wondering what he was doing. Well, not all of us. We put Sniper, Pyro, and Engie in charge of guarding our intelligence. Spy was going to try to sneak to the others base to grab their intelligence. It wasn't my plan so don't look at me!
"Ok, listen up boys! Attennnnnntion!"
I stood tall, looking at Soldier as he stepped up onto the box he slid over. I saluted, and I heard chuckling from beside me. I glanced over for a second to see what was so funny, only to see I was really the only one saluting/taking his order seriously.
I quickly drew my hand back to my side and looked back at Soldier, ignoring the others, ear tips burning in embarrassment.
"Ok men! These are the facts as I understand them!
One! We are losing this battle!
Two! We have no solid battle plan!
Three! Uh.... We are losing!" Soldier boomed, hitting his stick on the chalkboard, where a crudely drawn replica of the map we were battling on was drawn.
I slowly raised my hand.
"What is it, private?" He asked me. All eyes were on me, and I gulped.
"Uhm, well... I mean, we could just charge them. I mean, that's how Chamberlain won at the battle of Little Round Top, he charged the men below with bayonets because they ran out of ammo, and the confederates either got killed brutally or retreated." I said.
Soldier looked like he was in deep thought for a moment then nodded.
"Yes, this could work... But we'd need to get to higher ground, and make it seem like we are retreating to more defensive battle tactics than offensive tactics so they are tempted to come up to us instead of wait for our attack. Then, we'll charge them, and they won't know what impaled them!"
"Ooh! And, as a backup plan, we can send a man or two to retrieve their intelligence while they're away!" I added, excited.
"Perfect! Everyone got it?" Everyone present nodded their head or agreed verbally.
"Then let's move! Dismissed!"

"Chaaaaaaarge!" I yelled. Soldier ran beside me and laughed maniacally, pulling out his sword, just as the rest of the team.
"Ich am fully charged!"
"Charge me doktor!"
An übercharged heavy... Perfect for an assault.
I ran with my team from the top of the hill at full speed, while the unsuspecting BLU's were marching uphill. As soon as they saw us though, they turned tail and fled. But, we were quicker.
We soon fell upon them as a wolf does his prey, and killed them off one by one.
"Take that, chucklnuts!" Scout screamed as the BLU Scout yowled in pain.
"Teeny baby man is no match for Heavy!" Heavy laughed as he blew a hole through the opposing teams lines.
"USA! USA! USA!" Soldier chanted. I soon joined in chanting, and our teams victory was clear as we powered through the enemy.
"Victory!" The announcer soon said, pleased with our quick work.
"Ha, great plan!" Scout said, high-fiving me.
"Thanks!" I said, turning around to be met by Soldier.
"You deserve a medal, son!" He said. I turned red.
"Heh, yeah." I agreed, smiling. He simply laughed and slapped me on the back.
"You up for a drinking contest?"

I chugged my 15th bottle of booze, feeling slightly disoriented. What was it they were cheering? (Class nic), or cheese? I think they're cheering cheese. I like cheese. Just like I like sand! Sand is squishy.
I set down the bottle, looking at my competitors with lazy eyes. Demo, Soldier, and Heavy were the only people left. Engie passed out, and Medic didn't want to get involved with drinking. He said it wasn't good for his perfect complexion. Oh yeah, I also like mustard. It's yellow like cheese. And sand. And sometimes snow. Scout had fallen after his 3rd drink, and Sniper had retreated to his camper. Spy and Pyro were off elsewhere, doing who knows what.
"Imanuh, I'm gunna b...beatcha..." Soldier slurred.
"Aye, *hic*, not in a mil... Million years.. *hic* la-adddddddd........zzzzzz..." Demo passed out! That's a first.
"Ha! Yah drunk slyclopshhh, I'm ah beat yah Solly!" I said in triumph. Have you ever just listened to yourself talk while you're drunk? It's soooo much fun. It's like, you try to say a word, and it doesn't come out right. At. All.
"No, son, Ima be drinking till the Fourth of July and ain't no one gunna beat me!" Soldier screamed. Or at least it felt like he screamed, my head felt like it was on fire. My ears rang like world war 92 was happening around me. He drank another glass, and I drank another glass.
"USA! USA! U...Sa... USa... Usa... usa.... U...." Soldier fell over, next glass of booze in hand, shattering the glass and passing out.
"I... Win!" I gasped, before everything went black.

I woke up with a skull splitting pain pounding through my head. I looked around the room to see I was in my quarters with all shades drawn, and a small glass of water was next to my bed. I gulped the water down and felt slightly better. My head still hurt though, and I had to pee. What? It's a natural bodily function. Wouldn't you have to pee if you drank a ton of booze the night before?
I slowly crawled out of bed out of my dark room and into the hallway, beams of light hitting my face. The lights rays felt like super duper gigantic flashlights being shined in my eyeballs. You know, kind of like when you wake up in the middle of the night and check your phone, and you're immediately blinded? Yeah, not fun.
I hissed in pain as I made my way to the bathrooms, and entered. It was quiet, and I looked around the dim room before stepping farther in. No use in turning on lights, it hurts too much.
I went to the nearest toilet to relieve myself, thinking about the night before.
Why did Soldier say he'd drink till the Fourth of July? Isn't that really soon?
Wait...
A....
Diddily darned...
Second....
...The Fourth of July is tomorrow!
I immediately finished my business, zipping up my pants and washing my hands. I zipped out of the bathrooms back to my room, trying to ignore the pounding pain in my head.
I need to jot this down before I forget!
I scribbled down my plans in great detail, the pounding in my head becoming harder to ignore.
Soon the pain in my head became so unbearable that I couldn't continue. I slowly crawled into bed, thanking God that today was ceasefire.
- - -
Today's the Fourth of July!
I jumped out of bed, getting dressed quicker than I'd ever done before. I brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and took time making sure my appearance was well. Finally I felt I looked my best, so I squirted some cologne on and exited my room. I rushed down to the breakfast table and ate some cereal, and drank some orange juice.
"Aren't yah gonna stay fer pancakes?" Engineer asked, flipping some.
"Nah, I've got to show Solly something!" I said excitedly. Engineer just chuckled and went back to what he was doing.
I quickly went to Soldiers room, pounding on his door. Soon he emerged, looking like he just woke up.
"What? Don't you know it's cease fire day, (class nic)?!" He said annoyed.
"Yeahp! So get dressed! I wanna show you something!"
The man in American flag boxers soon went back into his dark room, slamming the door, grumbling. I laughed at this, and slid down the wall, sitting on the wooden floor with a thump.
Tick, tock. Tick, tock.
Before I knew it half an hour had passed. How long does it take Solly to get dressed? I knocked on the door.
No answer.
I knocked again, banging on the door as loud as I could.
Still no answer.
I slowly opened the door, peering inside the dimly lit room.
The window was open, shades flapping in the breeze, and a rope made of bed sheets and clothes was slung out the window.
"Dammit!" I cursed. Why would Solly want to leave? I had the perfect day planned for us, and now it was all ruined.
- - -
I sat slumped at the dining table, motionless. I breathed out, sighing. Phase one of my plan- stop by somewhere fun like a carnival- ruined. No time to get to phase two, the fireworks store. I rolled my face over and tucked my hands under it, looking out the windows at the beautiful skies.
"Wots wrong with you? Shouldn't yah be off celebratin' the Fourth with Soldier? He's usually runnin' around chantin' bloody USA until our ears are ringing."
I groaned, looking over at him.
"Everything's just peachy, Sniper. Peachy." Sniper cocked an eyebrow, walking over to the coffee maker. Starting it up, he shrugged at me.
"Well, Soldier wonted to show yah something, but oi guess you're too busy moping about your ruined plans to see what 'e wants. "
"Wait, really!?" I said, shooting up. This may be my chance to fix the ruined plans! There's still time!
Sniper chuckled, taking a sip of his freshly brewed coffee.
"Come on, let's get in my camper. It'll be fastah then walkin'."
---
Sniper started up his camper, looking at my eager face as I clenched my fists, bouncing up and down excited like SpongeBob or something.
"Calm down there, it's going to take a minute before we get there." He said, starting the long drive. The soft hum of his camper was the only noise filling the void of silence, and I grew impatient.
"Are we there yet?"
"No."
"...."
"How about now?"
"No."
".............."
"Now?"
"No!"
".........*snort*"
"Are you Squidward now? No? Ok,, pfffftt.... take your time!" I managed to laugh out.
"Do oi need to stop this car?!" Sniper barked, hitting the brakes.
"You just did." I pointed out. Sniper glared at me intensely and I gave a sheepish grin.
"Thank you, cap'n obvious.." He muttered, stepping on the gas pedal. The camper squealed and sped up, returning to its usual hum. I grew impatient again, and reached over and turned on a cd that was in.
"I wonder what this is!"
The magnum force theme started blasting loudly, making Sniper swerve.
"Ey, turn that off! You're just as bad as Scout!" Sniper reached over and turned it off, and I pouted.
"Deadbeat..." I mumbled.
Soon Sniper pulled up to a small hill and told me to get out.
"Aren't you going to get out too?" I asked.
"Nah, I'll be right here. Waitin' for yah." As soon as I hopped out, I started climbing the hill ahead to get a better view of everything. A screech of tires made me whirl around as I noticed Sniper yank the car around, and speed away.
"That's what yah get for being annoying, yah bloody piece a..." His voice faded as he went farther away, and I stared back at where he disappeared.
"But... B-B-but..." I fumbled with my words, not knowing what to say. "Now how the hell am I supposed to get home!" I shouted after him. Although he didn't hear, as he was already too far away, out of sight. I sighed, kicking a pebble.
"Hopefully he dropped me here for a reason. I have no way back, and it's already sunset, so if I have to walk back then there'll be no time for me to surprise Solly.." I pouted, talking to myself. "He's such a deadbeat..!! I can't believe- huh?" I created the hill, and looking down, there was an American flag blanket laid out, with big bottles of beer placed on either side with napkins. Beer bottle openers were on the ground, and confetti littered the ground. A slowly rolling lake was at the bottom of the hill, reflecting the sunlight as it dipped beneath the horizon. A small smelly candle was sitting on a tree stump, and I went over and smelled its smell. Inhaling deeply, it smelled like...
"Soldier?" I said aloud.
"Yessir!" I heard an all too familiar voice behind me. Turning, I saw Soldier standing at attention, his arm saluting.
He was wearing the cutest outfit ever- An American flag suit with a striped tie, and his usual work pants and combat boots. He had his helmet spray painted with an eagle and flag, and he was holding a bouquet of red, white, and blue flowers.
"Uhm... Here, son." He said, holding out the American flowers. I grabbed them and smelled their smell- America! FUDGE YEEEE- (sorry not sorry)
I smiled at Soldier lopsidedly.
"Thanks..." I said. I looked at him dreamily. Why did he have to be so perfect? I feel like I don't deserve someone as awesome and patriotic as him... But then again, why do I think of him that way?
Racking my brain, I couldn't find any answer that didn't sound like a cheesy romance thing you'd read in a magazine or book. (One shot book, that is. ;] ...ok I'll be quiet now)
I asked him the one thing that had been plaguing my mind.
"Why?" I panned my hand around the scenery, fingers stretched out. I looked up at Soldier, who seemed to grow quiet, shying back a little.
"Well... Uhm, there's no easy way to say this son, but... Er..."
"(Y/n)." I said, smiling at him.
"Huh?" He said.
"Call me (y/n)..." I repeated. My ear tips started to burn as blood rushed to my face.
"Jane... My name is Jane." Soldier said. A silence ensued for awhile and I started to panic. Did I cut off Soldier before he was going to present his feelings?
Soldier seemed to sense my nervousness as he moved towards the blanket, and sat down, patting the spot next to him. I took the hint and sat next to him, smiling shyly. He poured us both some beer, and we clinked glasses.
"To Fourth of July!" He said. I beamed, and he chuckled.
"To the independence of our nation!" I said with as much patriotism as the bald eagle itself. We downed our glasses, and I set mine down on the grass. Laying down, I looked at the stars. Soldier soon settled down next to me, and we enjoyed the night together, listening to the soft sound of crickets chirping.
"Beautiful, aren't they?" I said.
"Not as handsome as you." Soldier said. Cheesy, right? I know, but it still caught me off guard.
"?!" I looked at him surprised, and he looked at me, taking off his helmet, revealing his manly face, carved into a square shape with a strong jawline, barely visible stubble, and short ears. His buzz cut was on point, shaved down flat to every last hair.
"I'm glad I got to spend this night with you, (y/n)..." He started, looking me in the eye. I looked at his soft gaze, getting lost in his dark eyes that seemed to reflect the glittering stars.
"I didn't mean to ruin your plans, but I had plans of my own." He pulled a paper out his pocket, and showed me.
"Is that...?"
"Yessir. Can't hide anything from a Soldier!" He teased, holding out my plans papers I had drawn during my hangover. The words were messily scribbled and pictures of Soldier and I were sloppily drawn holding hands.
I laughed, cheeks burning with an intense blush of humiliation and at how hot he was. His low chuckle seemed to reverberate through the hushed trees, causing the cool wind to blow and the sparkling stars to be cut off by clouds.
"Aww.." I said, looking at where the stars once were. Soldier chuckled, pulling a button out of his jacket pocket. He pressed it, and 'Proud to be an American' stated playing while sparklers lit up all around the lake below us.
"It's beautiful..." I breathed.
"You ain't seen nothing yet." He said lowly, causing a chill to run down my spine.
The beautiful songs melody flowed through the trees, giving me goosebumps. I almost even shed a tear as I thought of all the Americans celebrating together, traditional hot dogs and sparklers, soldiers returning home from the army to see their waiting family, and so on, so forth. Soldier leaned over and hugged me, holding me tightly. He even looked like he was going to cry, which was a very rare thing for Soldier, seeing as how manly he was.
Soon, once the beautiful song ended, the America song started playing.
"MURICAAAA FU** YEAAA!" Started screaming from hidden speakers, and fireworks went off in sync to the tune. The sparklers started to sparkle more intensely, and red white and blue flashed across the sky. Soldier watched as I was in awe at the array of lit up colors flashed across the sky.
Smoke started pouring across the lake, and the smoke grew so thick it was like a screen. An American flag projection then started flashing across the smoke screen, and depicted Soldier ripping through it. At this I laughed, and Soldier saluted.
"MURICA! FUDGE YEAAAAA!" Sounded yet again as the song went on, fireworks crackling and sparkling across the sky. I watched in amazement as so many went off, I felt as if I would go deaf then and there. The music ended with a bang, literally, then all fireworks ceased to go off, all booming stopping.
"That.... Was.... AWESOME!" I shouted, looking at Soldier with wild eyes filled with wonderment and the glorious American spirit.
"That wasn't the finally though." Soldier stayed, putting his helmet on. He clicked the button one more time then waited five seconds, smashing the remote, and throwing it aside. Soldier then walked up to me, holding out his hands. I placed my hands in his, and he looked down at me with a fond gaze. No, more than fond.... Love.
With his loving gaze he leaned in, and his chapped lips smashed onto mine as a barrage of fireworks went off, the Star Spangled Banner playing loudly. All time seemed to cease, and just us and the American spirit enveloping our bodies with its holy light remained.
"Oh say can you see
By the dawns early light
What so proudly we hailed
At the twilights last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars
Through the perilous fight
O'er to ramparts we watched
Were so gallantly streaming
And the rockets red glare
The bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there
Oh say does that star spangled
Baaaanner yet wa-aaave!
O'er the land of the free!
And the home! Of the! Brave!"
~Fin~
This was so cheesy I swear I'm kinda embarrassed but still ~0~
Ayyyyy.... This could be a movie! Especially with that dramatic ending. *puts on shades*
YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAA---
