"Wrench."

"Wrench." (y/n) grinned, as she gave him the wrench.

"Screw."

"Screw." (y/n) handed him the screw.

"Kisses-"

"what?" 

"Nothing..." He spoke, chuckling, only to receive a kiss on his cheek. He chuckled, blushing a bit. 

"Kisses." She repeated with a smile.

You are his pride and joy, you are the light of his life, his angel sent from heaven. It was a relief to the Texan to have you around, your beauty, cheerful attitude, and bright smile always put him in a good mood. Like today, as you sat on one of his old workbenches, watching him work away on his sentry, getting her greased up and ready for next battle with the Blu. 

"Can I help on the field today, Dell? I have been your assistant for awhile now and you know...I want some field practice under my belt.." 

"You will, soon, Blu Sniper, Blu Spy, and Blu Demo agreed with Miss.Pauling to help your training today, so you will be field training." He stated gently, his brows creased in irritation as the grease failed to..well..grease the right spot.

"Awesome!" You cheered happily, clapping your hands together, excitedly. He chuckled lightly, happy to hear you excited, and get his damn sentry lubed. (( lol lubed ))

As much as he didn't want to admit it, he liked you. The idea of you in battle getting blown up and he can't do a single thing about it, scared him. He wanted to protect you, keep you close and a eye on you. He didn't want his ray of sunshine to see the light of battle, he was scared you turn crazy like the rest of them...even him. He had his flaws, battle wears a soul down.

" When is field training!? Is it soon!?" You asked excitedly, seeing he had gone quiet in thought. You wanted to train and train now!

" If you want. Just let me call up Miss.Pauling. She wants to watch your progress and see if your...ready. " He hated that word. Ready. He hoped you were NOT ready. Even if it was kinda rude.

- Later that evening -

You were ready. You had your favorite wrench. You had your favorite shot gun, and pistol- Your PDA system to build your mini sentry. You were fighting the three mentioned before by Dell. You waved to him, he was above watching with Miss.Pauling, he waved slowly, looking...Heart broken? You shrugged it off and rushed to the spot you picked out.

( Engi's Pov. )

Dell sighed bitterly, watching you run off, his assistant was ready, he knew it.

"Don't worry about it, Dell...She'll be fine." Miss.Pauling stated gently. "You taught her what she needs to know."

"I know. Just i'm worried for the girl."

Miss.Pauling only nodded to Dell, smiling a bit to herself.

Dell bit his lip and began to silently pray 'Don't you fucking die on me, darlin'.'

( Your pov. )

You set up your mini sentry, quickly putting up a dispenser. You were going to show Dell what you were made of, you would- 

BUZZ.

Spy was sapping your sentry, you heard his clock vanish as he came up behind you. You grabbed your wrench, turned and smacked him, sending him into the wall. You quickly turned and in the 'knick' of time saved your sentry. You smiled, first kill. You spotted a flash of blue, looking up you came face with the Blu demo- He was launching his damn stickies. You packed up your sentry and ran.

"Dispenser down!" You shouted as he blew up your building into pieces of scrap metal. You slammed down the mini sentry as it whirled to life, just as demo turned the corner, he was shot down by your sentry. You giggled, quick, think of a quote.

"That's what you get, you bomb chucking drunk!" You hadn't spotted the Female Blu Sniper yet. You heard she was quick  with a bow, and knew how to kill Engi ever time. You gazed around. Not seeing the female pull back on her arrow and shoot. 

"Ahh!" You cried out, gripping your knee. A arrow went through your leg into your knee, rendering your left leg useless. You limped your way to a medical kit, fear striking you like a scout's sandman ball. You pulled out your pistol as you made your way to a health kit. 

"Sentry down!" You cried out, tears threatening to spill..She got your sentry. She was coming. You heard her boots hitting the ground.

No..No...NO!

You shot at the female in front of you, only for your gun to loose ammo. You didn't aim, just fired away. Critical mistake.

" DELL!" You screamed.

The Sniper whipped out her kukri, aiming for your throat, but the sound of a shot gun blast stopped her. She turned to face a very...very pissed off Dell. "Engi...Don't you think about it."She warned.

Dell growled, stepping forward. "Brooke. Step away from her...Before I blow your guts on the wall." 

The Sniper, you found out to have a name, Brooke, Stepped away "Point taken."

You just shuddered, looking to Dell. Dell walked up to you, gently stroking your chin. He didn't know what to say, but he wanted to say anything. Something. He didn't want to see you cry. He grabbed at a Health kit and let it heal your wound, having pulled out the arrow. "You can be my assistant on the field." He stated, picking you up bridle style and walking away.

Miss.Pauling looked at Brooke, who looked at Miss.Pauling.

"She is actually really Good. But I think Engi is being...overly protective." Miss.Pauling stated gently. 

Brooke only smirked "The dude got a crush on her." She grinned, making Pauling chuckle.

You were sulking. You felt like you failed Dell. You hadn't realized it was harder for a newbie until a knife was pointed at your throat and a arrow in your leg. You sighed "I'm sorry Dell."

"Don't be darlin'. You did well, really well. Better then me on my first battle. Everyone didn't do very well until we worked as a team. It was just you. If it was you and me, we would of killed all them damn Blu's." He stated gently.

You giggled a bit, smiling " Was Brooke a newbie?"

"Of course she was. She couldn't hit jack shit. But over time, she got better and better, she replaced the male Blu Sniper."

" I won't replace you right?" You asked worriedly.

" Only if you get better then me."

"I'll never get better. I don't want to." You whispered, sitting up.

" Now, don't worry- "

" Dell, I love you to."

Dell turned 50 shades of Red, he looked away and chuckled a bit. It was easy to read by now that he did. He took of his hard hat and scratched what hair was left. " I...Well.." He shook his head and chuckled. 

" I love you more darlin."

You grinned, leaning in and kissing him, this time, on his lips..
