Ch 1 = The Past
"Y-You k-killed him! You killed him!" Jeremy screamed, tears flooding his eyes as he pointed his finger at the man standing in front of him.
The man simply laughed coldly. "What are you gonna do about it kid? Now scram and go cry to your mommy." He taunted as his buddies laughed.
Jeremy sat up straighter on his knees, his breathing suddenly becoming heavy. "I'm gonna see how you like it!" He threatened. Though he didn't seem to be very threatening.
The wind quickened its pace, the crowd of distant spectators and mourners noticed but the man in front of the young boy didn't.
"Aww boo hoo hoo! Oh my big ol brother is dead!" The man taunted.
Jeremy felt hot tears running down his face. He felt a sudden burning feeling in his chest, the air was like a tornadoes wind. Jeremy saw the look of horror flash across the man and his friends faces. The crowd had fled further away.
Jeremy wiped his tears away. He was a big kid, and big kids don't cry. He screamed out at the man again, watching as the group fled from him. He felt quickly exhausted and the world spun around him. The young boy felt himself collapse.
Person Change
"Doctor Ludwig we can't leave the boy here! He could be a danger to this place!" Young Miss Pauling pleaded, pulling the unconscious little boy closer in her arms. They had seen what had happened and immediately grabbed the child before anyone else could. They were hiding in an abandoned house on the far end of the city.
"Ve can't bring him vith us Pauling! He could attract unvanted attention!" The doctor said as protest.
"But he could get targeted by the Fire Nation! If they got their hands on him there won't be another chance for peace!"
Doctor Ludwig ran his hands over his face groaning into them. "How vould ve train him? Ve are Water benders! He is a Air bender."
Pauling looked up at the doctor determinedly. "Then it's one less element that he would have to constantly search for!"
Ludwig looked down at the little girl. Seeing as she would not back down he let out an exhausted sounding and heavy sigh. "Fine! Ve vill take zhe boy."
Pauling smiled with delight and relief.
"But you do realise zhis is kidnaping right?" The doctor asked, wanting to drive at least some sense into this girls head.
"Not unless the mother knows!"
"Vait vhat?!"
Time Skip
Jeremy opened his eyes, awakening to the normal chilly artic air. He shivered in his bed and slowly got up. Quickly dressing so he wouldn't have to stand in the cold for too long.
As soon as he was dressed to stand with the elements he grabbed his air staff and headed out of his tent to meet up with Miss Pauling and Doctor Ludwig. He was surprised to see that he had actually beat Pauling to their meeting spot this time. Of course, Doctor Ludwig was already there.
"Hey doc." Jeremy greeted.
Ludwig didn't turn to him, he only grunted in acknowledgement. Still sitting on the ice and meditating. "Good morning hér Scout." He addressed. "I see zhat you've beat Miss Pauling here zhis morning."
Scout was the name Jeremy said when he woke up and met the two Water benders. He didn't want to risk his real name so now Scout was his name. He simply chuckled. "Permission to get her doc?"
Ludwig sighed before standing up and turning to him. "Very vell. Be quick."
Scout gleamed brightly, before opening his staff to become a glider. With one high jump the cold wind caught in the fins and he flew off the icy ground. He quickly flew to Pauling's tent to check if he could find her there.
"Miss Pauling! Rise and shine!" Scout announced, landing at the front of his friends tent.
There was no response.
Scout took a deep breath, folding the glider again so it was just a staff. He put it over his back and rubbed his hands together to warm them. "Alright. No response ey? Welp, I'm coming it!" He opened the tents front and went inside.
Pauling was sitting on her bed, looking through her bag. She was quietly speaking to herself. She must not have even heard him when he was speaking above in the air.
Scout looked at the woman confused. He slowly went up to her and waved his hand in front of her face. "Miss Pauling?"
She sighed sharply. "What." So she did hear him.
Scout paused. "Uhh. I beat you to our meeting today. Ludwig was wondering where you were. Uh... whatcha doing?"
"Packing."
"Oh, wait, are you leaving?"
"No. We are."
Jeremy gave the woman a confused look. "Wait sorry? We are?"
"Yes. Doctor Ludwig just doesn't know yet. I'm going to tell him when I get up there." Pauling replied, shutting her back and then standing up.
Scout backed up from her to get her space. "I mean, ok. But I don't think docs gonna wanna leave."
Pauling took a deep breath and sharply exhaled. "Once Ludwig knows, he'll want to leave as soon as possible." She leaned picked up her back pack and hoisted it on her back.
Jeremy watched her. "Is it... about them?" He asked.
"Who else would it be?" She countered.
