Chapter 9
1 week later
(Y/n)'s P.O.V.
"I'm so frustrated! It's like, having to hide my gun is hard enough but okay I didn't think I would have to avoid having my personality." I complained to Stark. "Well, I'm sure you're fine. You don't have to hide your personality, you just have to avoid being (Y/n) you can still be like yourself but hide certain traits that they may know about. You, (Y/n), don't have siblings but (v/y/v) does. She has a sister and a brother. I know it's hard but you're there for a reason." I sighed laying back in my chair. "I know, it's just hard." "Don't worry, this will be over soon. I hope. We've go nothing about Zemo on our end but she was sighted in the city next to your so just be careful. Have you seen anything suspicious?" "Nope, nada. I've been keeping an eye out but there's not really anything that's tipping me off the edge. I haven't gotten any weird vibes." "Well that's good, just stay safe." "I will, speaking of which I better get going we've got a long day of shooting ahead of us."
"You know... you could just give me the slightest bit of information about the movie." I laughed. "Afraid not, but when it comes out we can talk all you want." "Not funny (l/n), not funny." "I'll see you soon, Stark." "Yeah, we'll be coming to check on you. Plus this new shrink, terrible. He thinks I have a fear of snow globes. Snow globes. I don't think I can put up with him anymore." "I'm sure it'll be fine, Stark. Just talk to him, and don't lie." "Don't patronize me. Goodbye (L/n)" "Bye, Stark. Tell the others I say hi." It was an average day, well what's become a regular day. Adjusting hasn't exactly been easy, keeping up my guard isn't the easiest. These people, actors are the ones that I had been texting which means my mannerisms have to be a bit different. Luckily they don't ask me too many questions but I have to avoid texting them as (Y/n). They've been texting me but I can't respond, not without worrying about my secret. I- "ouch! ow ow ow ow ." That hurt. I managed to walk right into the door frame of the place I'm temporarily staying. It's close to where most of the actors are, that way it's easier for me if Robert needs anything.
Okay can I just say how amazing it is to work for the Robert Downey Jr.. Okay, yes he has like two other assistants, which are also God sent. Like they're so nice? How? I- I can't even. Like I try not to fangirl every chance I get. It's of course gotten easier but like. He's really one of the best bosses I've had. Everyone else is really nice too, I've bumped into a lot of the other actors that aren't even working on the set because they're filming the two movies at once. It took about thirty minutes to arrive on to set. I made my way towards Downey's trailer when I bumped into someone.
"Sorry about that, I wasn't really looking where I was goi- hey, aren't you Robert's new assistant?" I looked up, this must be Harrison, or Haz. I've managed to avoid him for about a week but with my luck. "Uh, yeah, yeah I am. (V/y/n) Brennan. It's nice to meet you..." "Harrison but call me Haz, I'm Tom's assistant. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." He was much taller than I had pictured. Well both of them were. They look taller in person I guess, plus when you hear just their voices you can only picture what they look like so much. "Yeah, same to you." Oh no, awkward silence. This, I- I was not prepared for this. "I uh, I better get going. Robert needs to see me." Nodding my head I began walking away. "Yeah, I'll see you around. Assistants gotta stick together." I smiled, "yeah, they do."
I've been working for the past two hours and I need a break. "Robert, you don't mind if I take a quick break. I finished making next weeks schedule, I just need some fresh air." "Sure thing." Walking around set was pretty magical. It was like seeing a whole other world being created right before my eyes. I walked around the set, watching the stunt coordinators working with the actors. They began practicing some of the fight scenes. Watching them working with the props was amazing. It looked realistic. Watching them fight I looked at the props that were left out on the table. I held one of the knives (that's probably not their actual names they looked more like pointy spears that are hand held), it felt like the same weight and everything. They looked alike. I held it in my hands and ran my fingers across the side "ow!" I began bleeding. Looking at the blade I noticed little symbols. These looked just like Zemo's- oh no. I noticed that all the props appeared this way, at least the ones that seemed to be actual realistic weapons. If that's true then... "Stop! Stop fighting! Those are real knives!"
Tom's P.O.V.
We were running through some of the fight scenes with our stunt doubles. Dave Bautista's stunt double practicing throwing the knives at the shield. "Stop! Stop fighting! Those are real knives!" Looking toward the shouting, we saw (v/y/n) running towards us. "Those ... are r-real." She snatched the knives from his hands. "They're supposed to look like the real thing, they're one-hundred percent safe." Robert, Dave's double, assured. "They're not, look." Running the blade along her finger, blood came out. "Someone's tampered with the props. All of the ones on that table will be the same, those are the real weapons." Some of the crew began rushing over and someone checked with the props manager and the props weren't there and the weapons that they modeled them after were missing and they were calling the police.
I walked over to where (v/y/n) was. "How'd you know those weren't real props?" She hesitated for a moment. "I, I was touching the other props and I cut my finger. That's when I noticed that there were symbols on them and I saw it on those knives. Better safe than sorry." She said. "That was, very observant of you." I commended. She nodded awkwardly. "So... you think it was an accident?" Her eyebrows furrowed. "Uhh, probably just a mistake they made. Nothing too serious. I mean this is a secure place I don't see why it would be anything serious. Probably some vandal making a practical joke."
"Ah. So, you liking it here?" I decided to change the subject seeing that she seemed a little uneasy. "Uh? Oh yeah, yeah. It's really nice. Robert's an amazing boss and everyone I've met so far is really nice." I smiled at her. "That's nice." "It is a bit weird though, you know. Family's not here, my friends aren't here." "Don't worry, you'll make friends here too. Matter of fact, hand me your phone." Her eyes widened for a moment as she reached for her phone handing it over and unlocking it. I quickly added myself as a contact and sent myself a text. I heard my phone go off. "Now you have one more friend." "Thanks, you're too nice really. You didn't have to do that." "We should hang out the next day we're off. I was planning on going bowling with my assistant and it would be fun if you came too." She seemed like she would be fun plus Tom remembered what it was like to be the newest person on sight. "Umm, sure. Just uh, text me." She grinned.
That's when her phone began ringing. "You'll uh, have to excuse me for a second. Thanks again, Tom."
(Y/n)'s P.O.V.
"Hello?" "(L/N)?" "Yes, it was Zemo. Al the weapons had the marking on it. You guys need to get here soon. I'm assuming the cops already contacted you. Something bad is gonna happen soon. We knew she was gonna strike but not now." "I know, we're already on our way. Even the lab techs and our Smithsonian team, we're gong to try to keep it quiet. The more attention she gets, the more she'll plan. Keep an eye on everyone and stay safe." "I will, see you soon Rogers."
