Chapter Seventeen

"You know I still don't understand why we are here, I mean it's a construction site, and the workers are surely giving us the weirdest look ever." Shinichi commented, walking beside his friend.

It was such an ironic moment for him when he knew that the guy he was starting to get comfortable with -who he met online- is heading to the same place he was in, a part of him wanted to stay longer, no matter how bored he was, and un-cover the mystery of that guy's identity, while the other part wasn't in for any more surprises, He wasn't in the mood for one.

"Well, I'm starting to get hungry as well, I guess we would have to bring some food from a restaurant here, or something." Heiji replied, rubbing the back of his head as he started to walk away from the construction site. "Is there any place near here where we can eat though?"

"Not sure, I guess we can ask somebody, since I'm as famillar as you with the place." He pointed to a man, who was sitting by a newspaper stand, with a book in his hands, reading -or just merely staring at the pictures.

Heiji nodded, as they walked up to the man, asking their question, the man replied. "Yes, I do know a good café where you can grab the best donuts you've ever had, they also sell good cakes, my daughter liked their coffee as well, and it's not far from here, only a ten minutes walk to your right." The man, shut up, finally, Heiji thought, nodding at the man, Shinichi bid him a quiet thank you, as they walked fast so he doesn't start tal-

"Hey!" The man called, sighing, they stopped and turned to face him. "You're Kudou Shinichi, right?"

The detective nodded, well maybe the man wasn't as bad as he thought he were after all.

"My son is a massive fan of you! I would say huge, because it's more common, but it isn't enough to describe how he truly adores you."  The man commented.

"How old is he?" Heiji asked.

"Fifteen years old, he is into those detective related stuff as well, a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, not as smart as you, folks but from my point of view, he does have a bright future awaiting him, I hope." The man said, closing his book, holding a deep dreamy look in his eyes, he turned to Heiji, "I also know who you are, I do watch the news and my son has pictures of you too, Hattori Heiji."

A burst of pride filled the osakan detective as he smiled at the man. "I think he does have a bright future, how about us meeting him? Would be a good surprise, right?"

"Huh? Weren't you heading to the restaurant?" Shinichi commented, not going against the idea he wanted it as well, that's why he tried to say it as quietly as he could, however, the man heard him.

"Not a problem, you can dine with us!" The man suggested hopefully, standing up and heading to his car with the two detectives following him.

Kaito smiled at Aoko who finally finished her cake as they finally stood up from the boring table, honestly, he didn't enjoy being in that cafè, it's quite famous here, since it's the only one who serves donuts in the town, that's why people are running around moaning about how amazing this place is, and how pleasful his donuts are, however, they never even tried another one, especially if we are talking about those who never been outside the town.

"Why are you in a rush? Aren't you the one who was against the whole cinema thing?" Aoko said, putting on her coat, giving her friend a surprised look.

"Well, I think I might see someone I want to meet there actually, not sure." He replied, deciding to tell the truth since he would have to introduce them to eachother when they met anyways, even if he doesn't know his name, he does know his personality, even if he doesn't know his looks. "And, you didn't give me a chance to tell my opinion when we were heading to the cinema as well."

"Yeah, but I know you were against the idea, so who is that friend? You never mentioned him."

"Well, I guess it's better to get to know him on your own." He commented, avoiding her questions, since he doesn't have an answer to it actually.

"Sure." Aoko nodded giving him a surprised look, as they walked to the door.

End of the chapter

I know it's not as long as you guys expected but guess what, I may upload a chapter a day for a week or two, and I just wanted an update so here we are.

I guess they won't meet now.

I still need a looong time to write about their meeting experience but the story won't be a forty chapter long one, hopefully.

Anyways, thank you for reading! Drop me a comment or a message telling me what you think!
