Is Video Gaming a Sport

Some people think that it is, others don't. Those are their arguments:

YES IT IS.
– It trains the brain by improving our reflexes, strategic thinking and attention spans.
– Sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork and leadership are very important, just like all other sports.
– A lot of people watch it. There's sponsors and the cash prize only goes up.

NO IT ISN'T.
– Sports are inherently physical activities that provide health benefits.
– You have to have real world social interactions.

I personally think that video gaming is a sport. Sports are something you can improve at, physically. For example, if you can consistently hit a specific strategy or combo that will do a lot of damage to your opponent in a fighting style videogame, that's because you worked for it and your dexterity has improved. I feel like it's the exact same thing with volleyball, where if you can pull up a strategy that will make your opponent's life harder, that's because you practiced it and got better at it. On the other hand, Chess, for example, is not a sport because even if you get better at the game because you practice hard, there's not such a thing like dexterity and physical improvements. Volleyball players improve all of their muscles and Super Smash Bros players improve their dexterity.

I will now say why the arguments that say that video gaming is not a sport are bad.

– Sports are inherently physical activities that provide health benefits.
So why is fishing a sport ?

– You have real world social interactions.
You do with videogames too. The vast majority of the tournaments are in real life. You can socialize with people that have the same passion as you. On the way to the tournament you go outside and see nature. You see the pigeons too.
