The picture I chose (picture number 16) represents a fisherman with two whales right under him. He looks very small in his kayak compared to the creatures around him, one whale being two times longer than the kayak! The clouds in the sky are hiding the sun, so there's not much light. In the background, we can see the start or the end of a sunset or a dusk. The picture was taken with one half in water, the other half out of water, so we can clearly see the fisherman and the whales.

I chose this picture because I love whales and I would give anything to be the guy that is so close to them. Touching one would be great. I've always wanted to know what touching a whale feels like. I already did it with a dolphin a few years ago, I want to reproduce the experience.

It surprises me that the whale accepted to be so close to that person. I thought whales were afraid of humans like almost every other animal on Earth, like pigeons. When I went to see a whale a few years ago, I was in a big boat and there were almost no whales so I assumed they were afraid.

I honestly don't know how this picture made into the top 100 pictures of 2021. Compared to others, this picture doesn't seem that special. But it did make it so I guess it was because whales are such beautiful creatures.
