See You Soon

The room felt like it was rocking even before you had opened your eyes. You winced as the white lights flared against your pupils.

You tried to sit up and scare away the haze but something touching your hand did that for you. You looked over to your left and realized it was your mother.

"Oh thank god you're awake!" She cried through bleary tears. She then glomped you with a back-breaking hug. "I was so worried!"

"What? What's going on?" You glanced around the room and frowned once you saw the machinery and sterile-feeling furniture. "Where am I?"

"You're in the hospital, honey. You don't remember...? What's the last thing you remember?"

"I was at school, we were training, I fought Uraraka....and then..." You trailed off, wracking your brain for the details. A light bulb suddenly went off. "THAT BITCH!"

"(y/n)!"

"Sorry... but it was Monoma! This kid in my class starting saying some stuff that pissed me off and..." You moved your mouth to speak but couldn't recall the memory. "I don't know. I don't remember anything after that."

Your mother gazed at you with concern. "Your teacher told me you attacked a student....was it him?"

"I what? I mean, I wanted to kick his teeth in but that doesn't mean I did."

"I'm sorry to inform you, Young (l/n), but you did in fact, assault this student." You snapped your head over to the door and saw someone you never expected to see there in a million years. All Might towered in the little room wearing a yellow pinstriped suit and a tense smile.

His words distracted you from his presence however. "What are you talking about? I would never—I don't remember—"

"I was there, glow stick. It happened." You whipped around to the right and found Bakugou lounging on one of the couches. Your mind was reeling with all this new information.

You sighed in disbelief and frustration. "What the hell is going on!? I-I didn't do anything—" You felt so cornered you threw your hands to your face and rubbed your eyes . "I wake up and I've practically committed murder and I have people just appearing out of nowhere telling me this!?"

"I know this is a lot to take in sweetie, but I promise everything is okay. Just try to breathe alright? Deep breaths," Your mother coaxed while rubbing your back. You were far from okay but you knew she meant well. "All Might, may I speak to you outside?"

"Of course."

"I'll be back soon, okay hun? Just relax here and talk to this nice boy. He's the one who walks you home every day, right?"

You let out a shaky exhale. "Yeah."

"Okay, I'll be back as quick as I can." And with that, the two adults left the room.

You sat there staring at your hands. "Bakugou...what did I do?"

The blond glanced away when you turned to him. "It's not as bad as they're saying." One look at him was enough to tell you that was bullshit.

"What did I do?"

"You just beat him up."

"Bakugou, what did I do?"

His eyes held yours for a second before falling onto the objects in the room. "You kinda.....changed into this demon thing and almost killed him."

You stared at him in shock. "I what?"

"I don't know. One minute you're walking away from the fight, the next you had your hand around his throat."

"How the...what do you mean demon thing? Like metaphorically?" You questioned.

"No, like actual demon thing, claws and all."

"But I can't do that. How would I have done that? That's not even my quirk!" You were rambling but the things he was telling you sounded like they were from a fever dream. "Are you sure?"

Bakugou shook his head, exasperated. "Of course I'm sure, (l/n)! I was there! We were all there! Something just clicked and you went berserk!"

"I...I don't understand..."

"Neither does anyone else," the blond sighed, leaning back against the chair.

"Is he okay...?" You hated the snarky copycat, but your intentions were never to send him to a hospital.

"He's fine. He's being treated here too," Bakugou replied. "But, there is one thing I want to ask you."

"What's that?"

"What did Monoma mean when he said you'd never become a hero like your mom? And the other stuff..." the teen inquired with a pensive expression. "Did your mom try to become a hero before she had you?"

Your confusion suddenly melted away to sadness as you swallowed the knot in your throat. You stared thoughtfully at the white sheets on your bed. "Yeah, she did. She attended UA when she was a teen in hopes of being a hero. But with her healing quirk, she was kinda limited. That's why when she started dating some of the best heroes at school, people thought she was trying to sleep her way to the top."

"I wouldn't have known about this if it didn't resurface a couple years later when I was browsing social media. Internet outlets love to bring up the past for a couple clicks," You scoffed in disgust. "I asked my mom about it and she told me she dated Crimson Riot and All Might back when they were in school. It's crazy to think about now."

Bakugou nodded slowly. "That's why you snapped on Monoma..."

"I didn't mean to!" You defended. "I never knew this would happen. I never wanted to... kill him! Now he's in the hospital because of me!"

"And I'm stuck here not knowing if it's safe for me to be around others! What if that happens again? What am I supposed to do?"

Your mind was back in its frenzy. But before it could delve any further, Bakugou stood up and grasped your shoulders. "(l/n)! Look at me." You bit your lip to keep the tears at bay and gazed up into his ruby eyes. "You're gonna be fine. It's not gonna happen again."

"How do you know?" You whispered softly.

"I won't let it," the teen assured with a stern expression. "Who do you think was there to talk some sense into you huh? Who do you think stopped you from hurting that idiot? It was me." Bakugou's tone and touch was harsh but there was a genuine comfort in the way he looked at you that brought you back down to earth. "So I won't let you do that shit again. I'm the one who's gonna smack you upside the head if you ever get like that, alright?"

You breathed in unevenly just as the tears started pouring down your cheeks. "Okay, okay," You nodded in defeat.

The blond pulled you closer and let you cry into his shoulder. You trembled under his embrace, your hands grasping his arm. "Thanks, Bakugou."

"...Katsuki."

You looked up at him perplexed. "What?"

The teen sighed as if he were annoyed, but he wouldn't meet your gaze. "Call me Katsuki."

You watched him carefully before chuckling and resting your head on his chest. "Okay, thank you, Katsuki."

Back at the school, Principal Nezu sat in his desk seeming rather grave about the details being relayed to him. "I see... so the Miss (l/n) managed to fend off the teachers before attacking the student....That must have caused quite the commotion."

"It did," Aizawa said, arms crossed. "She would have killed him if my student hadn't intervened."

"Thank goodness for that," Nezu nodded as he sent down his tea cup. "It would have been a tragedy if another student passed away on this campus."

"So what is it you are going to do?"

Nezu sighed and walked over to the window overlooking the school. "I'm afraid the manner in which we dealt with the previous situation was what ultimately caused things to worsen for the student. I believe this is a chance to rewrite our wrongs."

"And how's that?"

"Miss (l/n) will remain with us under close supervision, although punishment for her actions will be taken," the principal concluded before turning to the taller man. "We can't afford to let history repeat itself, Eraserhead. We simply cannot."

After your little heart-to-heart, your exhaustion got to you and Bakugou thought it best to let you rest. You had instantly fell asleep the moment your head hit the pillow giving the blond a chance to exit the room.

Before he could get into the hallway, however, he heard your mother speaking to All Might in a hushed tone.

"Yagi, I don't know what's going on with my daughter!" She said, exasperated. "You're telling me she's showing signs of a second quirk in high school? Do you know how impossible that is??"

"Perhaps she's a late bloomer," the Pro shrugged.

"That is physically impossible. The latest recording of a child getting their quirk is at 7 and even then that's a miracle!" Your mother shook her head in desperation and let out a muffled sob. "What is happening to her?"

All Might looked sympathetic to your mom's plight, but still weary of his next question. "Jada, is she possibly....er, she wouldn't happen to be...."

"No, Yagi, she isn't yours," Your mother snapped. "That is also entirely implausible seeing as how we had been broken up a long time before I started dating Genjiro. Why would you even ask that?"

"Well, because the quirk she displayed was rather powerful."

"So?"

"Powerful enough to knock me back."

Your mother stared at him in surprise. "What...? You didn't tell me this."

"I was getting there," All Might said. "The quirk she used appeared to be a transformation one. It was some sort of demonic form."

"Demonic form...that's her father's quirk." She thought aloud to herself but still looked troubled. "But that doesn't explain why she all of sudden gained it."

"Maybe she always had it, but never used it."

Your mother scoffed. "My (y/n) was using her quirk long before she could even walk or talk. I doubt that's the case."

"Whatever it may be, I came down to tell you all this personally. It's a huge message pass on and I wanted to let you know that the school is making a decision on whether she will be allowed to remain in UA." Bakugou's eyes widened from where he hid.

Your mother looked heartbroken. "She's going to be expelled?"

The Pro sighed, defeated. "We don't know that yet but, yes, technically it's a possibility."

"Please, no you can't. It's all she's ever dreamed about. She's always wanted to become hero," She pleaded. "You can't take that away from her, please. It was one mistake, one she had no control over."

"I'm sorry, Jada, but this is out of my hands." All Might shook his head solemnly.

Your mom closed her eyes as a few more tears rolled down her face. "Alright... thank you, Yagi. I-I'd like to be alone with my daughter now."

"Of course. I'm sorry for everything." The tall man said his goodbyes and sauntered down the hallway.

Your mother let out a small cry as she pressed her back against the wall slid down. "Dear god, what am I gonna do? If she has Genjiro's quirk.... No, please no, not my baby girl...." She pulled in her knees and buried her head in her arms, sobbing restlessly. "Not my baby, please, not my baby....she's all I have..."

Bakugou stared down at the floor pensively. Why was your mother worried about you having your father's quirk? Why was that cause her to break down like this? Was it even his place to be eavesdropping? Probably not.

But he couldn't let it go. An odd feeling of anxiety settled in heavily in his chest at the thought of something happening to you. He needed to know what was going on.

He turned the corner from where he stowed away and got a full view of your mom crying away on the floor. As soon as he was exposed she jumped, her eyes wide with fear. "Oh god, were you—were you there? This whole time?" She wiped away her tears quickly and stood up. "What did you hear, d-did you hear anything?"

"I heard enough," Bakugou said, watching your mother intently. "(l/n) might be expelled."

A wave of relief washed over her features. "Oh, yes that could—"

"I also heard that there's something wrong with (l/n)'s quirk," the blond interrupted, stepping forward. Your mother's face morphed into one of alarm as he continued. "So tell me, why are you afraid that she got this new power?"

"T-that's—That's none of your concern."

"Like hell it isn't!" Bakugou retorted viciously. He had no idea why he felt so strongly about your precarious situation, but even so he was too pissed to linger on the reason. "She's been through so much shit as it is! What the fuck are you keeping from her?"

She was about to speak when a nurse approached them. The lady gave them a long, curious glance before entering your room. Your mom sighed and crossed her arms self consciously. "Look...you're one of her closest friends, right? You're probably the only one I can trust with this....."

She was at odds with herself but she hung on to the hope that this young man could possibly help. "Can we please talk somewhere more privately?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You groaned in discomfort when you were stirred awake by the slamming of a door. Your eye darted to the entrance and saw a young woman come in.
"Hello, I came in to check up on you," She greeted. Pencil in hand, she jotted down several notes from the board at the foot of the bed. "How are you feeling?"
"Not great," You admitted, sitting up. "I've got a throbbing headache and I feel like I just ran a marathon. I'm exhausted."
"You outdid yourself with your quirk?"
You shrugged. "It seems like it."
She nodded and scribbled something down. "And what is your quirk?"
"I can produce star matter from my hands."
The nurse shook her head. "No, what was the quirk you overused?"
"Oh, uh, I don't know, everyone's telling me I can turn into some demon thing," You replied with uncertainty. "Am I okay? Is that normal?"
"Yes, now can let me take your pulse." The woman went along with procedures, checking your vitals, food intake, and overall physical state. "Quite the quirk you must have for it to have left you like this."
"Uh, thanks," You frowned as she inspected your face in her hands. "You have such pretty features," She complimented with a smile. "You resemble your mother."
"Oh, you saw her?"
"Yes, she was just outside."
You chuckled nervously. "My mom always says I look a lot more like my dad than I do her."
"Really? Well perhaps she's right," The nurse's grin broadened. "Is your mother the one that takes care of you?"
"Yeah, my dad passed away before I was born so she's all I have," You sighed, dejected. "But I'm happy and proud of her for being two parents in one for me."
The lady glanced down at the clipboard. "Oh, and you attend UA."
"Yeah."
"How's that like?"
"I like it. It's all I ever dreamed of and more. I've met so many people there. It's insane how talented everyone is," You gushed, letting your inner geek spill out a bit.
She nodded and glanced down at her arm. You looked down as well but she quickly stood up and hugged her clipboard to her chest facing away."Oh! Well, I'd better go. It was nice talking to you, (y/n). See you soon." She gave you a large beam and scurried out of the room in a hurry. You gazed at the door in confusion but ultimately shrugged it off.
You were just about to toss onto your side and nap some more when the nurse came back in. She looked a bit out of sorts and disheveled. "Whoo, that was quite the jog," the woman giggled and took out a notepad and pen. "How are you feeling, Miss (l/n)?"
"Um, I still have a headache and I'm tired as hell," You watched her oddly.
"Okay, well I'm going to go ahead and give you a check up on your current stasis. The doctor also wanted to inform you that you should NOT use your quirk for the next couple of days seeing as how grave your physical condition is right now."
"Which one? Or is it both?" You asked.
She looked at you funny. "What do you mean? Are you double quirked?"
You blinked, perplexed. "Uh I guess so, but I just told you that."
"Um, I'm sorry, Miss, but you never told me this."
"Yeah, I did. Remember you asked me what quirk I overused and I told you it's the new one that just randomly showed up?" You repeated.
The nurse stared at you. "I'm sorry, but you never told that. I didn't even know you had a second quirk. But if so, you probably want to talk to a specialist about it."
"What—but we were just talking—"
"Miss, this is my first time coming in here."
"What?"
"This is my first time meeting you, Miss (l/n)."
You didn't know what to say. She seemed to be telling the truth, but then who—
You glanced down at the bed where the nurse had sat and tested your vitals. Your eyes went wide when you saw a deep red stain bleeding through the white sheets on the bed.
I know y'all hate cliffhangers but I love driving home the suspense XD I'll try writing some more before my spring break is up and I have schoolwork to do again.
