Happenstance

The crowd around the classroom had yet to disperse. It was tricky, but the students of Class 1-A managed to squeeze their way through without causing more of a stir. Uraraka, Deku, and Iida were among the few who made it out first.

"Unbelievable! Bakugou has taken it too far this time!" Iida fussed disapprovingly.

"Haha...he is a little outspoken..."

Uraraka nodded. "Yeah, he is...but he's right about one thing. We shouldn't let others discourage us from reaching our goals!"

"Somehow you were able to interpret his words in a more polite manner," Midoriya chuckled.

"I've learned a lot from him since we started training! I think he's just a little harder to read than most." Speaking of which, Bakugou had told her to hang around after school. Practice for the Festival would begin from then on for her. "Hm, where is he anyway?"

She was spying around for his whereabouts when Deku let out a dismal sigh. He quickly followed it up with the clearing of his throat. "Ah, there they are."

The brunette followed the male's gaze and saw you and Bakugou standing in the middle of the hallway. You were pulling your arms away from his torso as he gently made a mess of your hair. Your laughter echoed in the hall while Bakugou returned it with an eye roll. Uraraka noted the fading blush shading his skin.

Were you two together?

As the thought crossed her mind she raised a hand to get your guys' attention. "Hey! Bakugou, (l/n)!"

"Yo! What's up?" You greeted the three of them as they strode over.

"That was highly unacceptable behavior, Bakugou, I must say!" Iida chided at the blond who merely scowled in response.

"Are you two heading home? Maybe we can go together," Midoriya offered you.

"She's with me."

Another voice entered the stage causing all heads to turn. They stared in surprise as Todoroki came up beside you and gave you a nod. "We're still training today, right?"

"Y-yeah, I just need to grab my gym stuff," You replied, clearly taken aback by his abruptness. "I'll see you later, Katsuki?"

He eyed Todoroki curiously but grunted out an affirmation. "Yeah, text me when you get home." He then turned to Uraraka and signaled for her as well. "Come on, round face, we've got training to do."

"Oh you're all busy? You must be taking your training very seriously," Iida commented.

"They're probably trying to get a head start. We should be doing that too," Midoriya said, but it sounded like it was more directed at himself. "Well, best of luck you guys! We'll see you tomorrow!"

Midoriya was always such a sweetheart, you thought to yourself. You gave him a bright smile and waved. "See you tomorrow!" Uraraka said goodbye as well, but Todoroki didn't seem too interested in what he had to say. Katsuki just looked at Midoriya as if he had stepped on his puppy.

The group broke apart their separate ways whilst Uraraka eagerly joined Bakugou by his side. "I can't wait to get started! I'm really pumped for this!" She proclaimed in jubilation.

"Yeah I saw that earlier," Bakugou remarked."So you really wanna help your old folks?"

"Yes! And this is my chance to really shine! If I can get noticed by a Pro...that'd be a dream come true!"

The blond cocked his head with a shrug. "Is' not a bad dream. But can you do it?"

"YES!"

The explosive male smirked as he opened the door to the gym's training room. The brunette didn't even realize how fast they had gotten there. "Good. Now go change. I'll meet you in five."

True to his word, the spiky haired blond was in his UA gym uniform waiting for her by the blue mats. She popped out eventually and sped over to him with a determined glare. "Alright! I'm ready when you are."

Bakugou backed away a few feet to stand directly in front of her. He watched her closely as she waited for answer. "Since I've been training you I've noticed how you fight. You were sloppy in the beginning; not a fighter at all. But, you got better. You can defend and your attacks aren't as shit as before."

"However, you're missing something very important," He spoke calmly.

That was kind hurtful, Uraraka told herself. He didn't mean it in bad conscience. In his own way he was actually helping her. It still sucked to hear though.

"What's that?" The girl asked.

"Speed," Bakugou said simply. "If your attacks are weak then you're gonna need to be faster than your opponent and be able to land as many as possible."

"So come at me. Try using your floaty quirk on me." His red eyes beckoned her to the challenge as he stood his ground. Uraraka's heart raced with anxiety. She knew she would most likely fail this first exercise, but she still didn't want to seem like a complete dope.

Having no other choice she raced to meet him, fingertips at the ready. But no matter how many times she tried to reach out Bakugou had already side stepped away. Uraraka used kicks to throw him off or just land a hit but he easily blocked them with a forearm or a hand. Growing frustrated, she threw a punch at his face and aimed the other hand at his chest. A spur of excitement shot through her as she thought her quirk would make impact only for Bakugou to yank her fist down and catch her other wrist. In a swift move, he had her on the floor face first in a mat while he pinned her arm at her back.

"Too slow, round face," Bakugou barked. He noticed the girl was out of breath and let her stand. "You need to work on your stamina."

"Ugh, right," She sighed, dejected.

"Also, your form is trash. If you want a punch that'll really land heavy you gotta bend your legs and throw that into the hit," He explained as he lifted her arms into position and nudged at the soles of her feet. "You should be swiveling your hips as you do so."

Bakugou placed a hand on her hip and the other at her elbow. Gently, he maneuvered her a couple of times the way he envisioned to get his point across.

Uraraka's thoughts, however, had momentarily floated away. She felt her cheeks growing red as the male dominated her small frame. She knew he was only teaching her, but Bakugou's presence was so intense she couldn't ignore it. Even the way his hands were carefully guiding her was enough to make her hold back goosebumps.

There was still something pressing in the back of her mind. "Um, Bakugou?"

"What?" His piercing gaze flitted down to hers.

"Wouldn't (l/n) be upset by this?"

The blond's tense brow crinkled in confusion. "(y/n)? Why would (y/n) be upset by this?"

"Uh...'cause she's your girlfriend?" Uraraka tried nervously.

Bakugou backed away and watched her, completely baffled by her words. "What? (y/n)? My girlfriend? Who the hell told you that?"

The brunette chewed at her lip realizing her mistake and immediately feeling embarrassed over it. "A-ah, it's just that you two are so close I thought you guys were, uh, you know, a thing?"

"(y/n) and I? A thing? No way, not at all. We're just friends," Bakugou guffawed in disbelief. His boisterous dismissal of the notion was enough to convince the girl of how serious he was, but for him he knew it as a defensive strategy. The moment Uraraka mentioned such a relationship existing between you two he was engulfed with a strange wave to his chest. The idea of you and him like that was...something he couldn't comprehend. You were special to him, sure, but a lovey dovey relationship? That didn't suit you or him, much less both together.

Besides Bakugou had one goal and one goal only. He was going to the number one hero.

As he reminded himself of this a quiet part of him remained restless by the determined outset.

"Gah! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable!" Uraraka squeaked.

"I'm fine, mochi girl, now will you pay attention? I'm trying to show you somethin'." Bakugou raised her fists up and positioned them appropriately. "Whenever you punch you want the flat side under your knuckles to hit. You never hit with your knuckles. If you do that you'll fuck them up. I only recommend it as a last resort if you're really pissed and need to teach a motherfucker a lesson."

The brunette tried to stifle her giggle but it didn't escape Bakugou's ears. He sniggered in response, letting a playful smirk make its way on to his face. "Alright, now I want you to focus. Close your eyes and think of the person you hate the most—"

"But I don't hate anybody," Uraraka interjected.

The explosive male rolled his eyes and sighed. "Fine, think of someone who likes kicking puppies and kittens for fun. Get them in your head and channel that anger."

Bakugou stepped away and let the girl's imagination wander. Soon after her eyebrows knit together in a deep frown and her muscles tensed up with whatever rage she had bubbling inside her. The blond watched her closely as her breathing came to slow, consistent speed and she remained eerily still.

Bakugou was about to let her throw the punch when a soft tug in his lungs stopped him. He had noticed it before but never really dwelled on it. But now that Uraraka was right in front of him it was hard to ignore. Her small, round face, though poised with determination, held a hint of softness. They were flush and framed delicately by her short, brown locks.

Bakugou wasn't oblivious to looks; he could tell when someone was conventionally attractive. But Uraraka had caught him off guard right then. Something about her short stature and her gentle features made him see her differently. She was cute there was no denying it; no matter how much his brain fought his morals. He was there to teach her not admire her face.

The blond shook away those thoughts and brought his attention back on the girl. "Oka—"

However, before Bakugou could even begin his sentence Uraraka swung. Her fist launched itself into his cheek and the blow sent him stumbling back. If it wasn't him, they would've been floored by such a forceful hit.

As Bakugou rubbed his injury still baffled by the abruptness, Uraraka yelped and covered her mouth. "Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I thought you were going to tell me to punch, but I didn't know you were in front of me!"

She ran up to him and carefully inspected the bruising, holding his jaw in her hands. She could feel the heat in the swollen cheek as she ran her thumb over it. "I'm fine, mochi face," Bakugou muttered, but didn't push her away immediately. He caught her tentative fingers in his realized how close she had gotten. Even she was reddening from the lack of distance.

"U-uh, um, yeah, I-I'm sorry," Uraraka apologized, slipping her grasp away from him.

Bakugou tried his best to make light of the little moment that just happened by directing the subject to his bruising face. He massaged the wound and let out a curt chuckle. "Ha...I didn't think you had it in you....you're getting better."

Uraraka stared at him widely, a hopeful smile soon gracing her lips. Her cheeks burned bright pink as she broadened her grin. "Thanks!"

They both ignored the strange skip in their heartbeats and just enjoyed the brunette's quiet victory. But Bakugou's strict teacher mode activated and he decided to move on to something else. While he did so Uraraka recalled the day she had resolved in asking for his help.

She was unsure in the beginning given his foul temper to anyone he deemed an 'extra'. The learning curve was also bound to be a grueling and exhausting experience, but she didn't expect it to be otherwise. However, in the end what gave her peace of mind was making the right choice in relying on Bakugou.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You thanked the school for being reasonable and letting you off the hook from your punishments to prepare for the festival because the place Todoroki had mentioned was pretty far. After a couple blocks and a quick train ride you had arrived at a massive gym. It was on the same level as one of UA's very own training facilities. Many a people came strolling in and out of the building in work out gear going about their day. It was simple scene and yet you were still stunned by recognizing most of them as Pro Heroes. Or at least the ones who had disclosed their true civilian names.
And Todoroki was the one who had invited you out here. So either he had connections or he was a rich boy in disguise.
You didn't get time to dwell on the thought as the male ushered you two inside. You walked quietly behind him trying to be as unassuming as possible while he checked in at the desk.
"Ah, Todoroki," the attendant nodded, reading his membership. "Go right on ahead."
Shoto retrieved his card and directed his path to the doors leading into the facility. You shyly followed when the man at the desk stopped you. "Excuse me, miss, you need—"
"She's my guest," Shoto replied curtly, cutting the man off. "Is that okay?"
The attendant looked between you and Todoroki with an unsure glance. His gaze finally lingered on your classmate and he caved with a sigh. "Yes, Mr. Todoroki, you two may head in." He pressed a button on his table and the doors automatically opened.
Once you passed the threshold you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding. "I thought you said I would be allowed in?" You probed Shoto. You weren't angry about the encounter, but it did make you feel like an outsider in this shiny, polished establishment.
"I promised you'd be accepted as long as you stuck by me," Todoroki corrected. You rolled your eyes at his flimsy excuse, but were quick to pull them back to center when they focused on the state-of-the-art equipment surrounding you.
Things you had only read on the internet or prototypes that you had heard about years before were all on display here. Bodies of pure muscle littered the area taking space and showing off the strength of their unique quirks. You had never seen such a vast array of equipment especially some that were specifically designed for only certain types of powers. UA had a costly training program as well but not nearly as detailed as this one.
Shoto had to eventually pull you out of your trance. He gave you directions to the women's locker rooms and asked that you meet him by the elevators afterwards. You agreed, but all that was going through your head at that moment was 'Whaaaat? Elevators??'. That was probably why you still ended up lost in the sea of muscle-bound bodies.
You tugged your gym bag closer and looked around for your destination. You'd think finding something as simple as the women's changing rooms would be obvious, but this was your third turn around the same area. Even worse you were started to get some curious glances. You probably seemed like an outsider to all these elites.
Wanting to avoid their heated stares you made your way up a flight of stairs. They led down a narrow hallway with one side covered in glass windows overlooking the workout area. You could see the entire floor from there and yet no sign of the locker rooms. Todo said they were somewhere on the first floor right?
As you pondered this someone quietly walked past you. They looked to be around your age; tall with dark indigo hair and pointed ears. Having no other options to exhaust at this point you came up to him.
"Hey, excuse me, do you know where the women's locker rooms are?" You inquired politely.
The male's form went rigid as soon as you spoke. His gaze zeroed in on you and in a flash his cheeks burned bright red. Before you knew it he turned to face a wall.
"Uh, okay..." You muttered out dejectedly. Embarrassment washed over as you began to walk away. He could've just said no. Sasuke-lookin' ass...
However as your anger was beginning to rise another voice popped in. "Oh don't mind, Tamaki! He's just a little shy!" In front of you now was a boy much taller than the dark haired one. And much wider. The guy was built like a truck muscled up to the nines.
"Say, I haven't seen you around here before. Are you a new Pro?" The spirited blond asked.
Your eyes went wide from his assumption. "Uh, no, not at all. I'm still in high school."
"Oh I see! I thought you looked a little young to be a Pro," He continued. The male noticed your distant demeanor and realized his error. "Oh I'm sorry, I haven't even introduced myself! I'm Togata Mirio and this here's Amajiki Tamaki."
"(l/n) (y/n)," You replied with a smile.
"She caught me off guard..." You heard Amajiki mumbled under his breath.
"I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean—" Mid apology, the dark haired guy briefly glanced at you and once again snapped his face away.
But Togata let out a hearty laugh. "Haha, don't take it personally. He's not one for social discussion. But hey! You said you were in high school? We're UA kids, how about you?"
"UA?" You repeated in surprise. You had never seen them before. "Me too. What grade are you guys in?"
The blond's smile broadened upon hearing this and high fived you. "Third years. I'm guessing you're a second?"
"First."
"No way!" Mirio responded in disbelief. "I didn't know they were giving special memberships to first years too."
Amajiki shook his head but refused to look up. "They're not."
You frowned and glanced back and forth between them. "Special memberships?"
"The company that runs this place gave UA special passes to give to students with the best ranks. That's how we're here. This place is usually reserved for Pro Heroes or those who can afford it," Togata explained. "Speaking of which, how did you get in here? This is seems like your first time."
Crap, he was smart. "I, uh...."
The blond smirked and bent down to tap your nose. "You aren't break any rules, are you, (y/n)?"
Though you had nothing to hide you were saved from answering when a girl rounded the corner of the hall and called out. "Mirio! Tamaki!" Her most identifiable features was her thick, periwinkle colored hair and how amazingly pretty she was.
"Glad to see you guys didn't run off on me. Oh, who's this?" The girl asked once she caught up to you three.
Mirio grinned from ear to ear. "Seems like our Tamaki was making friends with a first year."
Amajiki groaned, wanting to shove his face further into the wall. You saw this and did him the favor of deflecting the attention from him. "I'm (l/n) (y/n), nice to meet you," you greeted the girl.
Her face lit up with excitement. "Hado Neijire! So you're a first year? Wow! Who's your teacher? Ooh, no, what's your quirk? I love your hair! Is that your natural hair color?"
Togata chuckled at his friend's antics and pulled you away before she invaded too much of your personal space. "Don't overwhelm her too much, Nejire. She'll think us third years are total weirdos."
"She always goes overboard," Amajiki added in a mutter.
Hado giggled to herself. "Yeah, I tend to get a little uppity sometimes. Sorry! But anyways whatchu up to? Here to train?"
"Yeah, I'm here with my friend—" Your smile suddenly faltered and a wave of panic came over you. "Oh, crap. I'm here with my friend! They're waiting for me!"
You were about to run off when you remembered how you ended up there in the first place. "Uh, do you know where the women's locker rooms are?"
"Of course, right around the corner. You can't miss it!" Nejire beamed.
"Thanks!" You squeaked back as you bolted in that direction. You gave them an apologetic smile and waved goodbye. "It was nice meeting you all! Thanks again!"
Togata waved back energetically. "Yeah! We'll see you around!"
After your disappearance Nejire softly punched Mirio and Tamaki's arms. "Well, look at you two! Making friends with all the cuties!"
Mirio chuckled, scratching his cheek nervously. "She was pretty, huh? Probably why Tamaki couldn't speak a word to her."
"She was lost and asking for help," He sighed in dismay. "What kind of hero am I if I can't even approach a pretty girl?"
"Aw don't worry! We just have to work on your people skills," Nejire grinned as they headed down to another training area.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You somehow managed to find the elevators Todoroki was talking about earlier and found him there. You had booked it there in record speeds but were still met with a disgruntled frown.

"Where have you been?" Was the first thing out of his mouth. You would have answered more appropriately if it weren't for you being hunched over, hands on your knees, gasping for air. "Got...lost..."

He released a restless sigh and gestured to the opening elevator doors. "Fine, let's just go."

The long ride down gave you enough time to catch your breath. In fact, it was way more than enough. It felt like you were sinking into the core of the earth. You were starting to question whether that was the case when the contraption whined to a halt and a ding signaled your arrival.

Once you were out of there you were yet again greeted by a wondrous sight. If the upstairs hadn't convinced you of this place's prestige then this did. Before you was a room completely void of anything. What made it so special? It was the size of a football stadium. A football stadium covered ceiling to floor in white, rectangular tiles.

"What is this...?" You whispered in awe.

"It's the open range training room. You can safely use your quirk in here." Shoto tapped his foot on the floor beneath him. "The tiles react to dangerous circumstances and actively work to regulate quirks effects." He stomped on a tile causing a sheet of ice to encase the area. Not long after a soft whir from the tiles sounded and the rectangle that was covered in ice melted over. The water seeped into the crevices surrounding the tile and it was back to its clean original state.

A disbelieving grin spread across your face. "That's incredible."

"I thought this would be the best place to begin practicing on controlling your quirk," Shoto said. "If anything were to go wrong."

You internally groaned. You had forgotten about being a freak of nature for one second and.... "Right," You replied, tight-lipped. He was only being cautious.

"Okay the first thing I did to control my fire quirk was focusing on not letting my emotions get the better of me. I think I'm pretty relaxed in that aspect most of the time, but it might take you more to get used to," Todoroki concluded, missing the flash of anger in your eyes. HE WAS ONLY BEING CAUTIOUS.

"Are you ready?" He asked.

Your response came in a heavy shrug. "Yeah, sure."

"Alright, put your hand on your sides and stand up straight." You did as he commanded. "Close your eyes." You frowned a bit but did so.

"Breathe in, slowly." Oh no, you didn't like the sound of this. "...And breathe out." NOPE.

You immediately let go of the stance and waved him off. "No, I'm gonna stop you right there, chief."

"What's the matter?" Shoto blinked.

"Is this what I think it is? A breathing exercise for me to find my zen??"

The heterochromatic male raised an eyebrow. "Well, yeah."

The disappointment must have registered on your face because Todoroki's confusion furthered. "What's wrong?"

"I...I thought you were going to teach me how to control my quirk," You said, crossing your arms around yourself in worry.

"I am."

"But...this isn't it! I've been doing these breathing exercises with Aizawa before I came to you. And it didn't do anything other than make me calm down. I'm calm. I can think straight. But now what? How can I use my quirk and be able to keep it in check so I don't go berserk?"

You sunk to the floor and sat with your head hung low. You could feel your body wanting to tremble under the weight of the stress. "You don't understand...if I don't get this right I won't be able to participate in the festival. I won't be able to clear my name. I'll always be known as the monster girl who almost killed her classmate."

You rubbed your eyes to get rid of the glassiness in them. You refused to cry. This wasn't the time for it. You needed to get this done. "Everything is on the line for me, Todo," You spoke softly as he kneeled down at your level. "I just don't have a lot of time left."

"(y/n)..." Shoto's brows furrowed. "I didn't know. I didn't know any of that."

"But (y/n), I don't think I can help you control your quirk like you want me to."

Your heart froze. "What?"

"I never intended to teach you how to use it," He explained. "I wanted to help you suppress it."

You were so speechless you almost couldn't form words. "What...? But your quirk...you said you had a hybrid quirk."

Shoto nodded. "I do, but I never use it. It's... not something I like to talk about. It brings a lot of pain. A lot of unnecessary, useless pain and I never want to use that side of me."

"I'm sorry, (y/n), but I don't think I can help you."

Shoto always considered himself a man in tune with his emotions, but for some reason seeing the anguish in your glance filled him with such heartbreak.

You both sat in silence for a long time. The male wanted to help but a task like yours he felt unequipped for. If he couldn't even bring himself to use his quirk how could he ever teach you?

Finally, you reached for his hand, taking Todoroki by surprise. You looked up at him lips trembling as you spoke. "Shoto, I know it's wrong of me to keep asking when you've already said your peace. But I can't give up. I can't give up on my dream. I'm begging at this point. Please, teach me what you can."

"I'm pleading you, please give me the opportunity. I can't go down knowing I had the chance."

When Shoto watched the desperation in your eyes he saw himself. The hungry drive to prove yourself was in him as well. But he never thought himself a teacher, quite the opposite. His resolve to show himself up to his father was something even he doubted he could do sometimes. But that was him. His future was unknown. But you...you had a chance.

Todoroki's laid his other hand on top yours and sighed. "I...I can't promise you success. All I can say is I'll try."

Your mouth went agape. "Really?"

He nodded fervently. "Yes, I want to help you."

Your chest could burst with joy. You let out cry of delight and threw your arms around Shoto. You nearly knocked him down, but your happiness was too strong to lock away. You hugged him tightly and exhaled, a smile on your lips. "Thank you, Todoroki."

The male's cheeks felt hot. Was it because of his initial shock? He couldn't place it, but he couldn't say he cared to. "Call me, Shoto," he replied softly, putting an arm around you. "I thought we had deal."

Now it was your turn to feel warm in face. "A deal?"

"You said since we became friends you'd call me Shoto." He took your hands in his stood up, helping you up afterwards. His hands were so strange, one felt hot and the other one cold. Oddly enough it was comforting knowing that that was the sense of his touch. It was unique to you, and probably only you.

"Well, I wouldn't call that a deal. Friendships aren't deals," You smiled shyly. "But I'll call you Shoto. Sorry I forgot."

The cheeriness in you swayed a bit when you recalled a something he had said earlier. You delicately pulled your hands out of his and shifted your gaze to meet him. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"Earlier, you eluded to you suppressing your fire quirk...may I ask why?" You tried slowly, but the question had already pierced him. Shoto's expression darkened before your very eyes and regret flooded your system. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have—"

"No, it's...it's fine." His tone was hard as he turned away. "It's not something I talk about often, or get asked about."

"All I can say is that my fire quirk has hurt very important people in my life. I hate it. I hate having it and I hate that I can't get rid of it." Todoroki's shoulders slumped as he talked. "I don't like to use it and I never plan to. I'm going to reach the top without it."

You gently grabbed Shoto's arm catching his attention. Your face was quiet, contemplating all of his words, but in your eyes he could see the honest, caring emotion beneath them. The heat from his left arm seeped into your hand, growing warmer the longer his gaze lingered on you.

"I believe you, but..." You pondered how to phrase your next words. "I want you to believe in yourself too."

"I do."

You gave him a weak, half smile and nodded. "Right."

Todoroki stared at you for a second before shaking his thoughts from his mind. "Well, we should get started right? Let's see what we can do about that quirk of yours."

The chuckle that escaped your lips was both happy and hopeful. Happy for yourself and hopeful that Shoto would receive good things in the future. "Okay."

Bonus:

It was late when you and Shoto left the gym. He offered to ride the train with you all the way home, but the thought of him knowing you lived in a rickety old house sent you spiraling. You declined his offer and instead got off at your designated spot. After saying your goodbyes you walked the rest of the way home.

It was an unusually chilly night and the fear of something lurking in the dark ate away at you. Seeking comfort, you pulled out your phone and dialed the one person who would answer no matter what.

"Hello? Why the fuck are you calling so late?" The familiar growl hit your ears.

"I just got out. Didn't think a text would be appropriate at this time of night," You clarified. "Why? Did I wake you up?"

"...no."

You shook your head and laughed. "Okay, explodo-boy."

"So why the fuck did you get out so late? Did that icy-hot shit force you?" Katsuki pressed.

"No, but...I think he's really gonna help me out. I feel like I really got to see him for the first time you know?"

Katsuki thought back to today's events. More specifically, Uraraka's speech about her wanting help her parents and the drive he saw in her at practice. The power hidden behind a frail-looking girl who turned out to not be as frail as he thought. "Yeah, I know," he replied.

"Anyway, are you home yet?"

"Not yet, almost," You sighed. "Um, Katsu, can you stay on the line with me? Please?"

You heard a scoff in the receiver. "You think I would just hang up on you, night light?"

You rolled your eyes and smiled to yourself. "Thank you, Kacchan."

"Hey, watch it."

This would have been up sooner if my internet hadn't flaked out on me. Apologies ^^;

SO an update on the Deku poll. It looks like majority wants him in and I'm happy to oblige! I've already gone back and edited a few scenes between him and the MC. If you'd like to go check that out these are the chapters:
