Nablai's Nebula
Welcome December. This is a month for celebrations. Double celebrations, to be honest. With Christmas around the corner and New Year just a stone's throw away, Tevun-Krus and the Ooorah are here to stay. We are punksters at heart so a bit of rebel is expected from us all, n'est-ce pas?
Cutting out the ramble and moving on straight to the point, this month's sub-genre has a Christmassy twist on a spike. Presenting-- A Very Merry PiratePunk Christmas!
Piratepunk subgenre is defined by their hardcore style with a preference for punk oriented music, destruction, law disobedience and are prone to use terms such as "argh", "ahoy", "matey", "bilge rat", "booty", "avast", "pieces of eight".
There can be no pirates without mentioning the oceans to plunder in the quest for gold. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Piratepunk is a subgenre of oceanpunk.
With Christmas around the corner, Piratepunk is fueled by rum and a "Ho Ho Ho! A-hoy matey, here we come". They dock in secret to pillage, drink and gamble. And keep a band of elves and reindeers for good fortune. Their stockings are dipped in spirits and marshmallows as they steer their ship through fierce storms, raging battles and a hell lot of swearing at each other.
Having stayed around through the Oceanpunk sub-genre, Christmas Piratepunk's primary focus is on Santas and reindeers on board, islands, boats, crime on the high seas, adventures, with all the elements of punk where the intrigue and merriment of Christmas is used in liaison of mystery and awe of a new world to conceal the darkness of the torrid seas below.
Which brings us to the question in hand. How does a pirate really relish punk laden Christmas?
After much thought(and some research) I'm inclined to believe that rather than revelling on the upper docks in beer and ale, with a rum soaked cake in hand, Piratepunk has songs "Pirates All Are We", "Cool To Be Cool!" "Blimey Carols" "White Beard"(all credits to their respective owners). And if you have some of your favourite Piratepunk Christmas, feel free to drop them in the inline comments.
Instead of having cocktail parties and lighting up Christmas trees rituals, they prefer to torch the trees and use them to scout out the predators of the seas. Regarding cocktails, well... wearing eye patches or peg legs, most will drown their piratepunk selves in the plunders of the islands whereof the tales are legendary.
Do you have another version of A Very MerryPiratepunk Christmas? If yes, please drop it in the comments or inlines here. I'd love to learn something new about this fascinatingly explorative sub-genre.
Look forward to meeting you in Jan 2023 with another new article. This is me--Nab, saying goodbye =]
Wish everyone a wonderfully blessed holidays and a lovely fantastic New Year ❤️
