Understanding (Mon, June 10)

"Your grandfather always refused to wear his glasses. You try them on and understand why."

I always thought he didn't want to seem weak. He did serve in WWI after all. But when I put them on; I couldn't help but flinch. I saw large monsterous beings. All in different sizes and much more than I can talk about. I suppose due to my size, they haven't noticed me yet. I slowly walk around: watching these beasts roam the world I know.

My senses were high, but I felt some kind of calm walking among these creatures. They didn't notice me, or perhaps they couldn't see me at all. As I walked; I noticed two men. I perked and turn towards them. They both had buzzed heads and ear pieces. I almost couldn't notice their black suits in the shadows they were in. Dark shades on their faces kept me from seeing their human eyes.

I slowly take the glasses and gasp. The men are still there. They wave to me to come over. Now, I know I shouldn't listen to strangers, but these men seemed to have some kind of power over me. I slowly walk over; making sure I didn't blink. I feared that if I blinked, they'd be right in front of me. It wasn't until I was two feet in front of them that I finally blinked.

"Are you the grand daughter of a WWI soldier and American Spy?"

I nod.

"We'll need you to come with us, and pack a bag. We heard a lot about you."
