Halfway There

Three weeks had passed since they all started ice skating, and Mark was extremely anxious about it.

Every night he would insist on going to the large ice rink and practicing with Amy. On the nights she didn't go, he would go by himself and practice moves. They had made amazing progress thanks to Mark's insistence to practice. They were now able to complete moves like toe loops and waltz jumps much to their coach's surprise when he would stop by and watch them every once in awhile.

One night, their coach had told them that she had a surprise for them since they were close to competition.

"It's getting really close to competition." Smith clapped his hands together while he waited for Amy and Mark to remove their skates and follow him to the all too familiar practice rink they had occupied what felt like years ago, but in reality was only a couple of weeks.

"I think you'll like it." Smith opened the door, allowing Amy and Mark to enter.

Waiting for the two was one dark blue glittery suit and a matching dress for Amy that brushed past her knees.

Mark's suit sleeves that were decorated with black spirals, on the chest a singular gold thread that trailed down to his torso

"This is beautiful!" Amy gasped excitedly like a kid on Christmas as she examined the dress. The fabric was silky and warm. Her dress had no sleeves but a black strip of velvet to hold her dress up.

"I'll let you try them on." Smith left the room with a smirk, secretly pleased about their excitement. Once Mark and Amy were changed, they exited the room and quickly put their skates back on, gliding across the ice with the glittery fabric shining like diamonds in the bright light.

Jack and Signe ended up going to a different ice rink to practice, as well as Felix and Marzia.

Jack and Signe practiced often, but not as much as Jack would've liked since Signe insists that they didn't overwork themselves. They still had made astonishing progress in such a short amount of time much to coach Murphy's relief. He would go to each of their practices, giving them tips and pointers as they tried new tricks.

"Let's take a break for a moment!" Murphy suggested after Jack and Signe had been practicing for an hour.

"I have something I want to show you." Murphy's eyes gleamed with excitement as he handed each of them their costumes for competition. Signe's dress had one apple green sleeve with no other sleeve and Jack's suit top started at a darker shade of green before lightening up to the same shade of Signe's dress, the sleeves a pristine white color like their skates.

"Thank you!" Signe squeaked happily, hugging coach Murphy.

"It's no big deal." Murphy chuckled as he turned his back so they could change.

"Finally a suit that matches your personality." Signe smirked as she briefly kissed Jack on the cheek.

"But never will there be a dress that will match your beauty." Jack passionately kissed her on the lips before putting his skates back on.

Marzia and Felix were not natural skaters, as was evident by their practices. It took all of coach Taylor's patience to not tell at them all of the time. More than once he had considered finding other people to take their place, but there was always that little voice in his head that wanted him to wait. At this point, it was too late to do anything else but wait since there were only a couple more days until competition. They were flying out to Finland tomorrow so they wouldn't be late and would have time to familiarize themselves with the area.

"Don't turn that sharply around that corner unless you want to break your ankles." Taylor reprimanded Felix with a hiss, his teeth clenched.

"You know what? Fuck this, I'm done!" Felix threw his hands up in the air in exasperation as he got off of the rink, grumbling incoherently under hid breath while he removed his skates.

"Felix-"

"No, I'm fed up with this crap!" Felix cut off Marzia while he stormed out of the building. Taylor sighed as he wearily rubbed his face with his hands.

This was going to be harder than he thought.

Marzia glanced over at Taylor apologetically before following Felix to try and calm him down.

"Why did YouTube have to go and screw everything up?" Felix muttered as he leaned against the trunk of his car, tilting his head back to look up at the sky. It was night, the sky peppered with stars and the moon shining on him like a bright spotlight.

He missed playing video games with his friends, worrying about nothing but getting the videos out on time. He hadn't contacted his fans since he received the business card. He didn't know what he would say.

Felix jumped in surprise when he felt a hand slip into his and squeeze it reassuringly.

"He's just stressed like us, you should give him a little more patience." Marzia suggested.

"Like he gave me any." Felix rolled his eyes.

"Look, I wanted to show you this later, but I think snow's a pretty good time." Marzia motioned for him to move so she could open the trunk. Lying inside was a black suit with a sparkling red vest that had jagged lines of black sparkles intertwined.

"I told your fans about everything and one of them sent us these." Marzia explained as she pulled out her own shimmering red dress.

"This is awesome!" Felix whispered as he ran a hand across the surprisingly soft fabric.

"What are you two-"

Taylor was marching towards them before he faltered, seeing the clothes in their hands.

"I don't even wanna know where you got that, just come back inside." Taylor huffed as he walked back into the building.

"Never give up, never give in." Felix hesitated before following Taylor with Marzia still holding his hand.
